My father was a smelter most of his life when I was growing up. He loved Silver and left me 2 100 Troy oz Engelhard Silver Bars along with lots of silver coins. Thank you so much for the info.. Just found you and a huge fan! I'm going to order the red-book and start getting my treasures organized.
I'm just starting and picked up some Britannia and Maple Leaf recently and ordered a few type 2 silver eagles.. I seem to just miss the dips. I'd like to get the Niue Owl and the Queen's Virtues. The Empire coin might be interesting as well. Those all sell at a higher premium, it seems. Your channel has been a great source of info helping me get started.
I am from South Africa and recently started stacking. One thing I have noticed is that our coin prices are much higher than spot price, but you can also sell them for much higher prices. The spot price of silver at the moment is R382, and the cheapest coin I can buy right now is going for R525 (Silver Kruger). There are dealers charging R700 for an Eagle. Secondly, people here do care about the look of the coins, even if they are only "bullion" so preservation is quite important - I am not saying you should put each coin in a capsule, but you should look after your coins. Capsules are sold at ridiculous prices if you don't know where to buy, and then you still have to pay for shipping. I bought some capsules for R2 each but are generally sold at R25 each and at least R99 shipping.... (ZAR to USD around 14)

So I got 2x 2012MS69 eagles for $87. Online retailers ask $45 each for older eagles. I don’t feel special about them but if I’m going to spend $40+ on an eagle I feel like 45 isn’t that bad for MS69. $46 is too much though

Therefore, I collect bars, sovereigns - not Eagles - semi-numismatic (Libertads & Perth Mint Lunar Series) different sizes - 1oz, 2oz, 5oz, 10oz 1kg - and the occasional numismatic coin that strikes me as being beautiful. Lots of silver available here in Asia.

I'll disagree. DO open 'em and DO hold them in your hand and get a feel of what real silver bullion feels like. When I help a beginner, I want them to have a handful of their own silver asap to catch the bug fast, far their own sake.
