The FED has stabilized inflation at only 1.9%/year! In the West Coast, big cities, housing prices (a person's biggest expense) have only gone up 400%, since 1997, thanks to low interest rates by the FED. Those housing prices = 1.9% inflation per year for the last 30 years through FED math and esoteric FED chairman speeches. You can now afford your house if you devote your whole monthly paycheck to it and rent out some of the rooms. This is unlike how your lazy parents used to buy houses with 1/4 of their income and not rent rooms out, 30-40 years ago. The FED and their banks have made you more productive and valuable by stretching you out with their derivatives. Without the FED's QE balance sheet that's buying up stocks and bonds and raising those asset prices, stocks and bonds would be seen as Ponzi schemes and collapse in price, since the younger generations don't trust the stock market anymore, and younger people have stopped buying them. The FED helps bring value to something through "free-market" subsidization, for the things which the younger generations do not value anymore, nor trust. The FED importantly helps decide who is too-big-to-fail and needs "free-market" subsidization. It's sort of like AT&T encouraging everybody to still have landlines, by AT&T paying for your landline via QE-like bailouts and putting the bill on a QE balance sheet (a zero% credit card), and everyone is happy, because everyone gets a free landline. The FED helps newer and smaller companies who compete against these too-big-to-fails, to die off quickly since they aren't part of the already established business network and hurt the profits of the big employers anyways. This way the established players can more successfully keep the elected government officials in power, who continue to support their big businesses and profit margins, which ultimately keep the FED powered on and plugged into the system, like a landline telephone that's still functional. There are positive feedback loops throughout the entire system and win-wins galore for the established players! Small and new startups are rightfully seen as cancers to this old and aging system, and should fade like a dream does - the American dream. Don't worry about the FED's balance sheet and please don't call it a Ponzi scheme. Your grandchildren will figure out how to pay off the QE balance sheet/credit card some day.

@@HumbleAstronaut oh I completely understand the fed and how it works and why it was set up. But the problem is the Fed is only there for itself. They determine interest rates which affect stocks which affects everything economically down in a trickle effect period but what you really have to look at is what the FED is doing or has done period in the last hundred years or so since the FED has taken over the US dollar has diminished by 98%. I'm sorry that is a complete and utter failure it needs to be repealed. Ultimately what is going to do is force us into a global economy. just look at the EU that's exactly what they've done and we're slowly being pushed that direction especially now under the budget administration where they're saying we're going to rejoin the Paris Accord and we're going to repeal all of these trade acts that Trump put in place that was actually helping us recover.
2:20 does this woman not realise the fed is in power based on a Federal Government Act. The fed could very realistically get abolished just by a majority in the upper and lower houses repealling the Act.
John Tamny want to talk about why the FED isn't needed, but both interviewers interrups, and want to know what he thinks the FED should be doing now. I think the answer should have been: they should do nothing!

Lol. Honestly he missed his chance to respond too the repeated question and really put an awkward pause in there. What should the fed be doing?...the fed should dissolve itself. Lol they wouldn't know what to say too that 😂
Keeping inflation and deflation under control; Avoiding a great depression in the middle of a financial crisis and a pandemic by using quantitative easing; How you do all that without the Fed? Sure the fed does all these things by creating debt and that debt can put downward pressure in the economy in the long term. Should we just suffer economic depressions, every few decades or should we spread the pain over a long period of time by creating more debt(which potentially could be restructured in the future)?
lol 😂 1) you realize the federal government borrows money from the fed and pays interest in the money that it prints. So you paying tax +interest on the money printed and this will be passed on to future generations. 2)you realize everytime money is printed it makes the money the average American works for worthless. Have you noticed when the stimulus hit prices went through the roof. Gas, food, ect 3)you realize the federal reserve is operating on a near 0% interest policy. Meaning the money that you have in the bank is used to create wealth and yet you the actual lender get next to nothing while the money you work for is being continued to be devalued. Making actually saving money pointless.
Not to mention you can only inflat money so much before it becomes to expensive to be worth printing. The fed isn’t saving the economy it’s just delaying the inevitable. So when the fed can no longer print money it’s going to be a massive global depression because the money in circulation won’t have any value. This is what happened to Germany after WW1 after they paid reparations This is what happened to China many centuries ago. Fiat currency is always destined to fail. You can inflate to prosperity
Nope, privatize the Fed and allow free choice in money. Econ is not hard. If there is a problem it is because there is not enough supply of what is demanded.
End the Fed
