I've seen multiple people suggest that Jesse is in some way weak for not being able to kill Todd in the desert. I don't think there was any moral failing there. Todd makes it clear when he first takes him out of the cage: "if you try to escape, I'm gonna have to go back for the kid." Literally the second that this is no longer a possibility, at the end of Felina, Jesse brutally strangles Todd with absolutely no hesitation or remorse. Jesse knows he could escape when they're burying Todd's maid, but he would be putting Brock in harm's way. Even if he killed Todd, there's a pretty good chance that Jack and the other Nazis would go back for Brock. Jesse chooses his own imprisonment and humiliation so as not to harm others. I feel like this is actually a profound moment of redemption and strength for him. He gives up his ego and his freedom (two big focuses for him in the past) because, for once, he's thinking about the long-term consequences of his actions. I really appreciate your analysis. Excellent!
Damn straight. I have watched other analyses of Jesse made by intellectually serious persons who don't see this. One guy said that Jesse didn't shoot Todd because he was weak, with an emasculated, slavish mentality, a pathetic victim of Stockholm Syndrome. This intelligent guy was oblivious to a solid plot factor because he saw what he wanted to see. He forgot all about Brock. Hm!!
I’d say there are definitely lessons he learns in the movie. In each flashback, he’s given advice that he seems to only realize later that he can apply to his life.
Thank you for acknowledging Jesse’s flaws and misdeeds. Every video essay about Jessie only talks about the good or how he’s a victim or misunderstood (which he is). The other essays I’ve seen always made it seem like he did no wrong in the series. So I appreciate you showing both the good, the bad, and the greg of Jesse Pinkman
I am not crazy about the Jesse-as-Jesus meme...however, the scene after his shower, the one that shows the scars on his back...he is crouching, looking in the mirror...and the image in the mirror...I flashed on the Shroud of Turin. Damn me. One never knows what one might discover in re-watching clips from BB. 200 years from now, university students will be writing theses on Breaking Bad.
If you were aware of fashion in that time it went from baggy to fitted within a few years ..the writers explained it for us .. this is looking to deep its a simple tale of self exploration and the choices we make, against the backdrop of crime. That's it
They still could make a follow up movie since most of the leading roles aren't buried, Walt, Jesse, Mike, Skinny Pete, Badger, Todd, Saul Goodman, on the other hand sometimes it's better to leave it as it is.
He was still a meth cook working under Gustavo Fring. He ain't no saint. Flynn is a much more moral person as he never is an accessory so any of that shit and only does his best to get school done.

13:53 the reason why Jesse didn't kill Todd was because Jack and the gang would've killed Brock
Finally people are understanding this

For some reason, I never noticed until this video the license plate holder on Jesse's car in the pilot that says "Save a tree, eat a beaver." 0:25

To the one dis like go away
*Don't force your agenda on your child*
One of the most shallow Breaking Bad videos I ever seen
Gale is the most moral character since hes vegan. Killing innocent animals 3x a day for a meal is worse than all Gales actions combined
He was still a meth cook working under Gustavo Fring. He ain't no saint. Flynn is a much more moral person as he never is an accessory so any of that shit and only does his best to get school done.
it’s not like meat eaters are the ones killin em tho lmao
@@dunguswungus359 yes they do. Every time they pay for meat, they are paying the industry to kill for them like a hitman
Huh? Making meth is evil. Eating meat is morally good.
@@PrimetimeX meat kills more people than meth through cancer and heart attack and kills more animals and the environment. Seems legit
What a smug video dehumanizing other characters. The self righteousness is nauseating.
How I’ve evolved
I hate Jesse.
