Apparently, my surname was first recorded in Cornwall, but I always assumed it to be Welsh. Never mind, I'm English through and through. Anyway, I now live in South Australia and enjoy that the final song is dedicated to SA. As I have aged, I have come to not only appreciate folk/country music, but to love it. And these lads make it sound like I'd love to be amongst them when singing.
^Where there’s a mine or hole in the ground ^ - this resonates for me in that my family name, Lake, came from Cornwall and was brought to the Swansea Valley in Wales, where family history, orally handed down to us, has it that they were sinkers employed in digging new pits with skills learnt in Cornish Lead mines. Great music, great traditions much enjoyed- thanks guys. Diolch yn fawr, Hwyl fawr.
You were to My Brother and Wife Helen . the Top.. At his funeral (2012) your songs were the High points .. MANY MANY thanks.. Bob Knight (Brother in Eupen .. Belgium)..
fantastic harmony. that 'Sloop John B' near the end knocks stripes off the Beach Boys version. mind you a lad from Glasgow once did a good one too...people down south don't know he was a Glaswegian by birth that'll be Lonnie Donegan!
Watched them live at the Barbican last night. Brilliant entertainment not just excellent singing. Totally recommend seeing them live if you have a chance. Personal favourites were Little Eyes, Sloop John B & audience participation in the Leaving of Liverpool. A great evening.
I am absolutely in love! I hope you all will be back in Mystic CT soon!!!! I’ve listened to shanties for many years, and yes I can keep Harmony with you !!! Seriously, love everything you do.
Fisherman's friend is also a brand of Throat Lozenges that sells in Australia that is always a reminder of my first day of school. It was my first day of school and my Aunt ( substitute mother that grew me up ) handed me about five dollars in change. I didn't quite understand why she was giving me all these coins ( it was meant to be for my lunch money for my first day of school ). She told me " its for school " . Walk up the road ( which was about 20 minutes to half an hours walk to this school I had never been to or saw before as I had only finished kindy ). Anyhow. As I didn't quite understand ( was still only young ). I walked up to a nearby service station which was on the way to this " school " I was supposed to make my way to by myself at such a young age. At the time in my very young head I thought I was being given money to go buy myself some lollies ( candy ) and I must have done something good to receive this " reward ". So ( not fully understanding what this " school " thing was ..I walked up to the service station ( which I was more familiar with and selected out a packet of " Fisherman's friend " which I had at the time mistaken for a packet of lollies ( candy ). For anyone who knows about Fishermans Friends throat lozenges they are actually quite HOT AND STRONG for a young child's palate. I remember trying one and spitting it out because of it's heat strength on the tongue. I then proceeded to walk back home still not understanding the money was supposed to be my lunch money and I was meant to walk to " school "( by myself ). So when I arrived back home with my packet of Fisherman's Friend my Aunt and her husband ( my step dad ) then woke up to the fact I was all confused and did not realise I was actually meant to make my way to my first day of school ( on my own ) and at such a young age. ( First prize AWARD for STUPID PARENTING of the year NOW AWARDED TO THEM BY ME ). Anyhow, they " woke up " to the fact I was a bit confused about what the money was for and where I was meant to go ( " school " ) and then eventually took me there and showed me " the way " to go in and attend. 🤪. Anyhow. This is a memory I still hold of my " first day of school ". Footnote - I am SO FUCKING GLAD AND RELIEVED I AM NOW AN ADULT IN CHARGE OF MY OWN LIFE AND 👉 LONG LEFT " HOME" 👈 LONG AGO. ( THANK GOD ✝️🙏 ).... But it is also this " school " I attended where I learnt these songs ( Bound For South Australia and Bound For Botany Bay ) that I came to like / love and also gave me my happiest Christmas Time and Easter memories too.. was at this school and not so much at home ( at all )...I can say.🙏👍❤
I heard about you a few years ago , then lossed track after "life circumstances" , and re-found you . Your singing warms my heart and soul . Thank you for finding your beautiful harmony !
With times so tough, their second movie came out at the perfect time! Loved both! They have a way of making you family! Would love to see you play in Calgary, Alberta. Call it on my bucket list! ❤️

Wasn't there a verse "give em soap and water and make him scrub deck earlie in the morning" in the song What do you do with a Drunken Sailor. Maybe that was a Canadian translation. I liked that verse because I couldn't think of a worst punishment while being super hung over other than being keeledhauled.
Listening to them always brings a smile to my face. Thank you gents.
Really fantastic and it makes me very happy to watch and listening to these wonderful singers.
Really pleased I have Cornish roots as my Dad was born there. Best wishes to one and all and glad we visited port Issac yesterday.❤️

@@robertstrong5713 you want to hear just how good Trevor was just listen to the song Mary Anne
He sings with angels now. No. Not true. He sings above them. Or at least gives them singing classes in free time. A blessed man, he truly was.
Strong and minded, determined, inventive man. Rispect!
WOW, that sound!
Am I the only one that wants to hear Jon Cleave read audiobooks?
His deep voice is fantastic
For him, even the phone book
Phone book mate.

Wow!
Sea shantys on top
You haven't made it until they've made a pasty after you.
What’s wrong with the 3 who gave this the thumbs down?
They are jealous
I love their traditional music. It is very important that they keep it alive... I play one of the shanties on concertina and violin.
There's always one...... er.... 15.
Not to worry it’s their loss🥸
Plonkers
Amazing guys
Brilliant
Long ago, in the army on the forced marches, we sang chanteys to keep the step. And to pass the time, which allowed to ignore exhaustion!
Those have since been banned as political incorrect. Scatological? Heaven forfend!!
On on, HHH KL
Walking in the zone on the AT….!
The originals are so much better than the films.
Fantasist Harmony guys.
PROUD TA BE CORNISH ,, ANSUM PROPER JOB

The union of different kinds isn’t on any albums, they gotta record that one
It's on the special edition version of "Port Isaacs Fisherman's Friends" and "Keep Hauling" which is the soundtrack of the movie.
@@alangale5666 Yeah looks like the soundtrack for the movie isn't available in the USA... big bummer.
He looks like charles bronson the actor who played him tom hardy 😊
are these the same guys from the movie
No. Just the singing
The movie had actors playing these guys. But these guys were in the movie in the pub trivia scene.
