I came across this video while researching Zenfolio. It sounds like you're upset because of one specific feature you think they should have that they don't. I agree with you that it's very surprising that isn't an option, but that's hardly a reason to stop using the entire service, especially if you're using them as your website and not just at the storage solution. It's definitely something good to know, but I was expecting to hear they were selling your pictures without your permission or something like that.
Yeah, but it's a pretty massive feature that is not mentioned anywhere in the terms. Imagine uploading photos from over 10 years of work to not be able to download them? WHAT????
Zenfolio was never designed to be used the way you intended to use it. That doesn’t make it a bad service. If they intended it to be used the way you thought, then they would be obliged to charge way more than what they do. Cloud services are more expensive than they are.
Which is why i have my own storage i have never considered zenfolio a storage platform, every single image including the naf ones are backed up on a hard drive and then re backed up again on a second hard disk.. Can i just say that 14TB & above hard disks are getting very affordable now, I only use zenfloio for what it was originally purposed for, which is selling my images..
Agreed. And I wasn't either. But regardless, if you are doing any form of "cataloguing" on zenfolio just be aware you will not be able to download the hierarchy should you need to.
@@GivesAMinute I catalogue my photos with Lightroom; many times more sophisticated than Zenfolio. Zenfolio is just my shopfront which has proven to be a solid one.
Selling digital products on ZF is a drag, they limit the selection process to @ 12 at a time, "then drag to the other box etc etc". Self fulfillment is not user friendly. They're ok for some things....
Zenfolio is far from Zen. What a pain the naming convention of each slide....about 6 clix to rename just one, then their numbering sysytem overwrites mine! So go to help you say? Oh my, you have absolutely no idea, their bot is uneducated.
All my galleries are smart galleries in Lightroom. That way I keep control of all culling, selections, etcs. Using Zenfolio's Publish plug-in. This puts me in the driver's seat.
@@GivesAMinute ugh, still 'stuck'. There is an option to export the smart galleries to a catalog. The select photos are in the new catalog, however, the structure is lost. All the photos are in one gallery. 😒
@@rannulfmedia7930 Yep, that's how they do it. It's super lousy!!! I had almost 10 years of galleries added that I had to manually download each individually. I'm outta there!!! For this one reason Zenfolio sucks!!!
One thing I can say is they are currently spamming perspective clients and reeking havoc on commercial support web sites. Who at Zenfolio thought that was a good idea? This company is run by 12 year olds.
The CEO is a bit of a loon. He sends out political emails. That's great he's passionate and all but I'd rather photography tips and how to better utilize their service. I don't need to know the world according to John Laughlin. The employees also feel the need to put their 'preferred pronouns' in their email signatures. I switched to Smugmug and have been very happy.
tedious non-explanation

I have been downloading my work from Zenfolio both Classic and the newer site with NO problem whatsoever. @@GivesAMinute

It is a photo hosting/sale site. That's how I was using it.

I had been a Zenfolio customer for a long time as well. In addition to this nightmare, their up/down speeds became abysmally slow over time.
Get out as soon as you can!!!

I dropped them entirely after this video. Good luck if you still use their services.

18 years with ZENFOLIO, no issues with them.
Got a link to your port?
It has changed. I was 10 Years a member. The behavier in the last year is insane. I quit and will get to court if i dont get my pictures back.
Ditto. No complaints, ZF is great. Slow sometimes but look at how many images are on any given website.
I agree. I started in 2009 and still love their platform as a customer-facing delivery site and online backup of completed work.
Dem kann ich nur zustimmen und ich werde Zenfolio verklagen wenn ich nicht alle meine Bilder aus dem Archivmodus zurückbekommen kann.
Wish you made this in 2018. I hate zenfolio.
What happened with you and Zenfolio in 2018?
This is insane. If you find a better way please let me know.
Unfortunately, there isn't. Steer very clear!!

You're still putting them on Zenfolio tho. Just don't do any "organising" on Zenfolio that you don't have a duplicate of locally!

This sounds like the old Zenfolio plan; they don't even sell it anymore.
