I believe both Bill and Melinda could enjoy they fortune doing nothing to help others. They try and extensively. Since the world evolves very fast, many mistakes will be done, this does not reduce the impact of people improving their quality of lives around the world. Vaccins are essential to reduce child mortality and morbidity. Forget the fact that producers will earn money from it. The result is positive considering public health no matter what. That is very concrete and real. As a physician, I believe vaccins are possible the only relatively simple first step that allows other changes in improving inequality all over the world.
Money is not everything. We have homeless here, we have poverty. Belief in Jesus is my only way.

I was one that wondered about aid facilitating population growth. When Melinda mentioned how education can cause fertility to go down a light bulb went off. How could I be so stupid. She is exactly right. Statistics show that as education levels rise women have less babies. Glad I listened to this.
It's not that simple, it takes actual cultural shift away from traditional, local educated reality against their own culture, that's not going to happen for many generations. Even education is a myth in itself. He's perpetuating a myth.

Obviously I'm not against that, but it's also true than in these traditional non-western societies they maintain large famblies. But education more than oil has a greater effect on over-population in the sense of reduction of population from reproduction only.
Also healthcare.
If children tend to die early because of Malaria, you try to have a lot of kids.
If children tend to grow up safely, you just have 2 children, and save for their college.
Never once have I heard of anyone concerned that health for children in third world countries would cause overpopulation. Thats what THESE dark people are concerned about.
And then she suggests that the answer to population control is actually contraceptives, so it is a focus for her. She’s admitting to trying to control population. She just wants to control it through birth control, not disease. I understand that two healthy kids is easier than eight sick ones, and that lives could actually be improved through this, but her arrogance in thinking that she can decide for people whats best for them is atrocious.

The thing with population growth in my opinion is that if everyone is actually well off, there's less of a need to have more children. The advanced world is mostly not even going to replace itself effectively, and I think that's the future of developing nations. So, giving everyone a good shot at life is good for everyone collectively and independently. I think we should use thorium, adopt advanced hydroponic systems for agriculture, and starting legalizing hemp production etc.

Where their voice, via their pocket book, in the world of politics, drowns out millions of voters voices. Philanthropy was once the sole job of religion and pushed the rich and we'll off to do their part, which was the wife and daughters responsibility as it proved their families social standing, hospitals, universities etc were built from private funds. Today the government is taking place of the charity of families and there is a different flavor to their help, it comes with shame attached and beaurecratic levers of control of the help that came from some of the very taxes contributed, therefore letting the wealthy off the hook, that's why it seems odd to see the Gates doing good deeds, it used to be expected, now it's getting rare. There are still ppl doing charity work but it's losing the status it once had to move the public and in steps a hopeless government office doing the Lord's work lol, it's so sad. Even some of these poor countries have generous citizens ,they better be bc they're expected to be, as you may know charity is a pillar of Islam, part of Judaism and Catholic church who press to get necessities to those in need. The capitalist system says eff u baby, mother made ya mother eff ya all at the same time using corporate tricks,loopholes, bailouts, and outright lobbying then fosters their environment of supremacist bs of class division, it was the rise of this greedy system that broke the ability of the functioning family and that's what's in store for the rest of the world when we need shekels for supplies

This is pretty funny...but NOT! I used to be in the middle class in America, but downward mobility is a fact of life,now! I know they have been to Africa. This year, they changed the way they distribute AIDS money to go around the graft and corruption of the government. Most African countries are not able to govern themselves(i.e.: Southern Sudan,CARetc.) Yesterday, I read that 85 people hold the majority of wealth in the world! They don't share. Although the Gates Foundation does some good work, if they actually spent some of their money, renovation of cities in the US like Detroit and Philly might be possible!
War is the fundamental reason to destitution. In Southern Sudan, there is a conflict consistently. We must be a one union to make the world happier or otherwise NOTHING. sadly We're not gonna make it as well as the selfishness of these some leaders and this Huge gab between the poor and the wealth.

One of the most profoundly beneficial things wealthy philanthropists could do for humanity would be to create a billion dollar prize for anyone who can find a cost effective way to desalinate sea water. (By "cost effective" I mean competitive with the watershed in temperate climates. Also, disposal of waste brine would have to be figured in.) Look at how much land would become arable if we had this. The reality is that this has zero influence on the amount of male and female birth proportion. To your information, Mother Nature makes more male than females. It is a logical matter related to preserve species. The difference is natural small. If you wish a bigger one, check on China’s “ one child policy” - for the city families-. That caused a greater amount of males due to abortion of female foetuses. The policy is no longer needed, people no longer desires to have as many kids as possible to keep a few alive after frequent infant death. What for?
