@@shperax you’re right, in behind each side panel at the nose above each shock location, just took them out of my mach today while getting to the headlamp fairing. There’s more than just those 2 that had washers so hopefully I can figure out where they went when putting it back together lol.
Hey Bret, this video gives me hope! I just bought a new to me 2021 Exp SE 900 ACE Turbo and am looking for tips on doing just the basic maintenance. I've seen and read so many very complicated videos. I just want to ask, will my sled be the same process as you show here? Thanks.
Is there still foam under the hood you should remove on the 2021 expert turbo? When I got my last new sled the 2017 Summit you had a video out showing how to remove it all. I will soon get my new 2021 Turbo expert and would like to know if there still is something you can remove? Also a big thank you for all the great work you put out there for us.
I remove all the acoustical foam to allow for better air circulation and prevent water from being soaked up adding weight. It's important to use foil on the underside of the hood where it is closest to the pipe to prevent melting of the plastic parts. Happy sledding.
very helpful video! Just wondering if you have taken the top half of the air box off on one of these gen 4s? I cracked the top of mine and need to replace it. I have the part ordered but I cant seem to get the top half off. Ive searched and removed all the bolts (from what I can see) and when i push any of the 3 tabs that hold the top to the bottom half, it still seems super solid! hope you might have some advice, my sled is a 2020 and i don't even have it a week and this happened.
@@RideRasmussenStyle I took another crack at it last night and managed to find some more hidden screws. had to strip it down basically to just the air box. got it all back together now and ready to ride. thanks!
Fs i cant even get my hood back on… the rear clips by the gas tank wont quite reach. Like half inch away… its the air box boot. Seems like it wont sear properly,,,, when i took it off. The boot was still on the hood,,, not on the air box itself
SO... It sounds like you need to move the rubber boot from the hood to the air box where it should go. Make sure the hose clamp is properly loosened. I like to leave the clamp loose enough that I can slide the hood on and off at will without the need to ever loosen or tighten the clamp. I've never tried it, but I suppose it would be fine to permanently remove the hose clamp. Good luck.
I have a 2020 backcountry xrs. The hood came off fine and went back on fine but I cant seem to get the hose rubber connector back over the airbox. It wont slide over the top.
If you can design a better product why don’t you apply to BRP? Six bolts is a hell of a lot less than the 26 it takes to take my KTM adventures gas tank off.
THIS IS NOT WHAT I HAD IN MIND WHEN I SPENT 20K. NOW DO THIS ON A FROZEN LAKE AT NIGHT IN -30 BECAUSE A SPARK PLUG NEEDS CHANGING. I WANTED SIMPLICITY AND GOT ANOTHER COMPLICATED TOY, MAY AS WELL RUN MY YAMAHA. NOT PLEASED SO FAR. MY SKANDIC IS BRAND NEW BUT IT WILL GET OLD.
Guess what! It gets worse... Taking the hood off won't give you access to change spark plugs. You need more room than that! Sounds like your a Yammy guy 😉
Every gen4 owner have to know this .thanks!!
You are welcome 😊
I believe on the wide body, the 2 washer screws are in a slightly different spot. They are out of sight, tucked up in right above each shock.

Thanks much, I’m 53 and have never owned a current snowmobile, I’m used to mid-90’s machines and your video made the removal easy.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching!!
Brett, Thank you for doing these video's! I would like to see one on what you put on for aftermarket items please.
It's coming... Watch for it soon!
Awesome video. Was getting ready to take the whole front apart! Thanks
Thanks Bret! Love the color combo on that sled!
Thanks Brett, I'm old school and still learning on the new ski doo.👍
I'm old school too!🤣
Thanks very helpful, glad I watched video and learned in the shop rather then out on trail
Hi! Thanks can you please do a video for changing the indexed spark plugs too. Thanks

Yes...should be the very same. Could be some small differences. But all G4 hood removal should be basically the same.
Thanks, great instructional video
Thank you
Please do a video on how to rem9ve a Gen4 airbox please
What exhaust pipe and can are you running on that one?
Nice videos cant wait for the next one! :)
Running the factory pipe with a Diamond S can. The titanium can is less than 3 pounds and quiet!
Ride Rasmussen Style that sounds perfect! 😍

The newer sleds are definitely harder to take apart. Almost has me missing the vertical edge chassis...
Yes the vertical edge... Cutting edge technology in hood removal!
We went many places on them but I do like the power and handling of the new machines.
Where is the video you made removing all the felt and foam? I have looked all over for it, it's as elusive as a 10 mm socket.
I have a set of wires with pig tails attached to my glove compartment. Any idea what these are?
G4? I don't remember any pig tails on these?

There are some fasteners you have over looked. The entire hood has to be disassembled. Keep looking until you find more screws

Nice video ,good job thanks
Good stuff and Thank you. Cliff
I had to remove the hood to install the skid plate on mine. A pain do it. Terrible design. Great video though!!
Thank you...I hope it makes it easier next time 😊
Is this the same process for the new 2021 ski doo tundra 600 ace?
Most likely...I don't keep up on those models.

@@RideRasmussenStyle hi…. The last two clips by the gas tank… does the hood clips go in the slot’s or under.,, i hope you know what i mean lol

The only thing that should be restricting it would be the hose clamp. Are you sure it's been loosened enough?
I managed to reach in and wiggle it on with my hand. Not much room for working hahah. Thanks for the quick reply!
@@Thekid1996 you are welcome! Have a great day 😊
I have that same can on my expert 👍
Awesome choice. Diamond S Makes the best can available as far as I'm concerned!
What a pain in the a pipe. Polaris wins on the hood removal department.
I think about the '70's sleds... Unhook a couple straps and the hood hinges out of the way! And you can actually get to the engine!
@@RideRasmussenStyle always love watching your videos.
@@roofall247 more coming! Just in time for winter!
Polaris hoods need to come off easy cause they always need worked on 🤭
@@boondocker1219 I did go through alot of plugs on my rmk 850 lol thank god the hood comes off easy.
Hi it is austin corbett
Hi Austin
Hood removal is a joke on the G4........in this day and age you shouldn’t need tools to remove the hood.
You might be right... However this is how it is! I'm hoping that the video makes it a little easier for you when you have to remove the hood!

What model sled is this so dont accidentally buy it
Yeah no thanks, that's a yikes
Its only 6 screws!
