what kind, inteligant, modest, down to earth guys all of them... no tatoos, no fancy hairstyles, make ups, clothes... absolutely ordinary guys loving and playing killer music. great musicians, great people.... legends... such a big inspiration !

While I agree with those aspects martin huba counted above, unfortunately, back in the day, this manner comes with a heavy bill. Having hard times to fund the tours, concerts and probably in the end causing Chuck Schuldiner to pass away with many financial problems. Just because they weren't a mainstream band and didn't have sufficient PR, marketing and fancy things involved with Death. =( In this world, success is not always directly proportional with the personalities behind it and it is not always rewarded the way it should be. =/ RIP Chuck...
So sad..... he was the last person on this planet that deserved that kind of fate. His polite manners were through the roof, hardly ever used profanity, no drugs, loved his friends, just a positive being in all ways
how can you be in a death metal band without ever using drugs, thats so crazy to me. In my opinion, drugs and metal go hand in hand. chuck speaks like he smokes a lot of weed tho lol
Well Chuck actually said in one interview that he smoked weed - but it's not that there's something wrong with it. Anyway, I agree with the main point - everything that I've learned about Chuck through countless interviews, be it his own or of others who knew him - is that he was such a great man, real human being - no jokes.
:) :) :) probably yes, can you imagine little baby Gene hoglan with long hair, sunglases and beard :) Brillinat man, by the way i really like his way of drumming. Thumbs up :)
It's so awesome. I'd just wish DiGiorgio could be heard more clearly on Brotherhood. But they're killing it live! When I saw Testament in Denmark, I got Human up on my phone when DiGiorgio came to my side of the crowd and he started grinning when he noticed, hehe. It's great to see them play with Skolnick and co.!
I think the word 'definitely' was Chucks favorite word, definitely. He would end every sentence, "definitely." Haha. All his interviews. If I made a drinking game of it I would be hammered in 15 minutes. Not knocking Chuck at all. I love his music.
Such a shame that Chuck had to leave us all so early, but he did a lot in the short time that he was here. He'll inspire those yet to be born, that's how good he was. Death line ups were absolutely immense also, no need for names. RIP Legend.
He is such an influence for new generation bass players. Especially by being one of the few guys out there that heavily employed fretless bass in metal music.
Holy crap! One god and two legends of metal together in this interview. "As metal brothers we are definately bounded - through metal and through our souls." RIP Chuck! :'-(
I remember this Headbangers Ball episode as it was yesterday. Initially Entombed with "Hollowman" then Full of Hate tour cover. Gorefest, Unleashed, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass (Necroticism - my favourite metal album) and finally this interview with Schuldiner. After the break, Roadrunner special. Obituary, Sepultura and Deicide live!!! Those were the days when MTV was a true music channel.
I remember those days too. I first discovered these bands on Headbanger's Ball back in '93. At the time MTV was playing grunge, alternative and some gangsta rap during the day...but if I recall correctly they played these killer bands late at night.
Chuck IS a God ! ! ! No other motherfucker has offered me anything more in my life than Death did. Chuck, I hope there is life after Death just to meet you some time after I die to say thank you dude ! I really want to.
i watch him speakng i feel i'm gonna eat my computer, he's so plain, grounded feet, polite, professional, his only performing when he's on stage, definitely an exception on metal and music in general
three legends, all of them are probably the best at what they do this was a great lineup and now gene hoglan and steve play for testament which is also a perfect lineup with each member being an absolute beast
dear chuck, i think you don't even thought you would have left such a big influence and legacy with your music back in those days:)thanks for everything, stay metal and stay death
So glad that I grew up in the 80's -90's heavy metal heyday. looking back at it now , it truly was a special time. I always knew that the majority of the bands back then would stand the test of time. Death being one of them. It almost feels like yesterday when I bought Scream bloody gore off the album rack @ the record peddler on College Street in Toronto. Across from Maple Leaf Gardens.
I just read Al Jourgensen's new book (which wasn't really that good) but in the book Al was talking about how much drugs he was doing and management never gave him a hard time about it and that management said Al is worth more dead to them than alive, I just though that was such a disgustingly greedy comment. I really hate my fellow man. I hope whoever owns the Death name isn't getting rich because Chuck earned every penny he ever made, just an incredible human being RIP Chuck you are sorely missed by a lot of people and a huge inspiration not only as a guitar player but just a cool honest dude.
actually, his mother mentioned that when he was very ill one of the managers ( a woman whom he considered to be a friend) made a comment that "he will die and they dont have to pay him" and apparently chuck was really hurt by this
@@Mutabor1981Maria Abril, I'm guessing. I remember reading a 1998 interview where he was saying good stuff about her since he had known her back in the Roadrunner days, IIRC.

its so hard to find good live videos of death from the "individual" and "symbolic" tours. such a shame since those are my two favorite albums, and the lineups were destructive. they really didnt have much in terms of live footage until "perseverance." chuck was so angry and driven in 1993, a la mustaine around the time of "rust in peace." i think it comes through the music. its so badass. he had calmed down by "symbolic," which seemed to put him at peace, but kinda took the edge off of his attitude a little bit. i wish this whole "full of hate" festival tour would have been recorded. MTV had footage, obviously, but i havent seen it anywhere else yet. theres a cool show of them in detroit, but thats the best ive seen.

I love how you can play the most brutal music in existence and still sound like you’d fit in at church on a Sunday
I love how Steve didn’t say a single thing throughout this, and looks so uncomfortable but on stage, he’s headbanging like a madman
