AH! I love rewatching the line editing videos that you made for this project! 'Kaira arrived home a foreigner.' Is still a banger opening line for a book/prologue, and I still think about the scene with Aston carrying a drunk Mito out of the tavern. I swear those two live in my head rent free.

This was such a cool video idea! I really liked seeing your growth as a writer and you talking about things you would change. I've been trying to write my first completed work but have been struggling lol but seeing you look back at your work and giving thoughtful critique makes me want to keep writing and maybe dive deeper into my own projects!

That's such a cool video to make, also that’s very honourable to come back on your past work and its flaws (but not to diabolise it necessarily), that just shows how far you've come as a writer and I wish I started following you as soon as when Project Moon was the big thing! I read your published short story and you're an exceptional writer I swear I'd read anything you write 🎉

"Even when we start writing new stories, we find ourselves iterating upon the same ideas." It's funny how it works like that, and it's something that I've been noticing a lot lately with my own works. In some ways, it gives me a chance to rework through those ideas through the lens of an adult with (supposed) real-world experience and maturity, but on the other...dang, I can get quite tropey with my own writing. (And by that, I'm not referring to general tropes, but niche patterns that exist within my own writing across my own stories, if that makes sense.)
But anyway, the magic system in your story sounded very intriguing. Wait, actually, now that I think about it... (looking at this specifically from the lens of how you described your magic system) I think that you created the plot to FF XVI before FF XVI even existed. Which goes to show that you had the foundation for something pretty cool there. (And I think that can be said for the story as a whole. I can see the potential there. So many little things.)

i guess most story ideas do have potential and unfortunately my craft wasn't at the level to do these ideas justice (but i never regret writing it. so many things learned from this manuscript lol) i enjoyed a lot of aspects of ffxvi so i appreciate that comp

Really enjoy watching you going back to your old project and seeing how your writing have grown omg. As a beginner and younger writer I'm trying SO HARD to not be hard on myself with my writing for i know i will grow and someday look back at my stuff so your videos give me courage to continue. Also if anyone has any suggestions on how to improve my figurative language IM BEGGING😭.... All to say love your vids kris!

i think the most important thing when you’re starting out is to have fun! i did have a lot of fun at the time when i was writing this :) i think ShaelinWrites has good discussions about elevating description-i always recommend their craft videos!

Ooh this is so interesting, it's something I'd definitely pick up at the bookstore but it's also so wildly different from the stuff you write now (in a hard to describe way)-I loved hearing your perspective on this book now, this was such a great insight into how your views on craft have developed since you were younger!!

i don’t like to say i’ll never work on a project again but this kind of story is so out of my interest as a writer now that i cant imagine returning to these ideas-unless i find a twist to the premise that i think is worth exploring.

I’m sure your writing in LOCAL HEAVENS and TFH is amazing, but this is actually really good, too! I really like your descriptions! I wish I could write like that! Also, I admire you for writing secondary world fantasy. I don’t think it’s something I could ever do, so I just stick to YA and Adult contemporary fantasy and gothic horror. You were an incredible writer then and I’m sure an even better one now. 🥰
