@burkkis it was their first time playing it at their first show without The Rev.. it sounds a lot better now that they're used to playing it and tighter with MP.

Yes, he WAS the new drummer, but then he and the band both decided that no could or should ever permanently replace The Rev, so now A7X rotates drummers. They are currently using one of The Rev's close friends as their drummer.

@thesmallspure I'm a singer and I happen to be pretty pitch sensitive so I can quite easily tell when someone is singing in the wrong key. His pitch would have been spot on if they were playing it in Drop D but I think they transposed it down a semitone to Drop Db (i.e the same tuning as Almost Easy and Scream), but as soon as he sang the 1st prechorus he must must've realised his mistake and adjusted to the right key. Listen closely to the backups by Syn/Zacky and how they are in another key.
I think Matt must have thought they were playing it in Drop D instead of Drop Db which kinda explains the off key first verse but anyway I can't imagine how hard this must have been for them so he handled it like a pro! Still a near flawless performance from A7X and this is sure to become a fan favourite live in my opinion! A7X foREVer!

i think finding a new drummer sounds like a MTV series,where they audition for a new drummer,they got the revs idol (Mike Portnoy) to join for a while but when he leaves they should bring in a guy who idolizes the REV,seems like the right thing to do dont you think?

@Harlot2004 Yeah and his in ear mics might have not helped with pitching either cos it is afterall a very tiny difference in key tonally but he handled it like a pro. Anyway of course they would be a bit rusty considering the personal hell they've been through, but an awesome first performance of this song, I just knew that this song would own live from the first time I hears it! But I think they should probably play it in the original key of Drop D next time. A7X foREVer!

@eclecticmuso Yer i realised that too! But the actual line he sang was spot on just the wrong key! Shame like it is hard hearing those low tones half a step apart, i play in a metal band and the drop Db songs are really hard to tune into especially with monitor problems!
@CaptainSyphillis13 No, they only rehearsed with Mike twice. They probly rehearsed tons before this show. Everyone fucks up.

This is a great performance. Most bands sound like shit live but this sounds amazing. I can't wait for Avenged Sevenfold to come Michigan!
