Nice job! I really liked the lowered result better, and agree on the preference for wider redlines on this car. I always enjoy these videos. Thanks so much for making them.
Gorgeous. Love the blue! I think the one change I'd make would be to paint the engine bay black, seeing as some of the original green still shows through. Aside from that, I love this restoration
Absolutely beautiful!! The Rodger Dodger is my favorite casting of all time!! I have managed to collect every variation and enjoy seeing new versions, even if they're customs. The blue was a great choice!!
Ah I miss having a Roger dodger! I had the old one. I lost the engine so I gave it to my nephew. Aaaaand now it's destroyed.. also I love your videos you should do just one car you do your very best on. Like REALLY detail it!
That looks awesome! I find that painting the under side of the interior plastic black helps it go unnoticed. I also find it easier to cut the rod by rolling it on a flat surface with an exacto knife instead of using a dremel. Keep up the good work.
Astonishing results! The color is beautiful, contrasts with the wheels very well. In my opinion you could also add some decals or paint to give the car more defined character (like a white stripe). Thanks for the video, it's enjoyable, impressive and well made as always! Best regards, Albert
I played the PS2 game Hot Wheels Highway 35 when I was very little and as I was brought up with muscle cars I fell in love with the Roger Dodger in the game, I looked for years and years for Hot Wheels Rodger Dodger. I remember the rush of happiness when I found a hot pink all metal Rodger Dodger. Immediately we painted it all red like the video game car. Then matte black, and now it sits there on my shelf with other Rodger Dodgers'. Such a cool car.
Great video as always and the blue with black accents on the sides and back was an excellent paint choice and the dropped height with some meaty tires is just what this Rodger Dodger needed to make is damn near perfect! I can’t wait to see more builds like this in the future.
Very Nice! That Blue really POPS!!! Your videos have been inspiring to me to start my own little hobby of restoring Redlines and customizing more modern cars. I am still building my paint booth, which should be ready this weekend. Once I have that running, practice, practice, practice. My first will be the 1972 Mercedes Benz C111. I look forward to all my fails which will bring success as I navigate my way through this fun hobby.
A tip my stepdad gave me when using the paint stripper. Get hot water, as hot as you can, from the tap. Fill a container that will hold the water and the car. Let the car sit in the hot water for a couple minutes, let it heat up the car a little bit. when you go to spray the remover, dry the car off quickly to minimize cooling, then apply the paint remover. Thermal shock should help with stubborn paint. I've done it on a 442 which had really annoying paint.
Slamming it down was definitely the way to go. I found this video a little more interesting since I had that hotwheel as a kid, and I think I still do.
I made a similar Roger Dodger for a close friend of mine who collects that casting. I really like your touch on the louvers. Nice work and great choice of color.
Hey baremetalH-W, I hope your doing well? This Custom Hot Wheels 1968 Roger Dodger (From A Modern Casting) was really well done. All the effort you put into it (all the attention to detail i.e. multiple paint removal, sanding, all the extras) really made this car one of my top 10 favorites you have done. Hard to choose. Excellent Job as Always. Thank you for sharing your time, talents, tips, great custom ideas, and super creative fun videos. Take care and keep on doing what you love to do. REALLY SUPER CUSTOM! Back to more videos. :)
That is a sick piece of work. I'm diggin' the lowered stance and modern Redline wheels. Keep it up! I'd also like to see your retro styling techniques applied to a modern casting, such as Muscle Tone or maybe a Fiat 500!
A typically spectacular finish. The fidelity to the original spectra flame blue finish is superb [nice choice of colour by the way] and the lowering of the axles and real rider redline wheels is a genius stroke. Thanks for another excellent video production. You always maintain a clear, concise and professional approach and finish to all your presentations and pieces, thank you
Indeed the lowered result is great, although the original gap did aid in the classic big tire muscle car look, it was certainly improved by the body drop. Nice work!
Another fantastic job! Both raised, and lowered examples look good. But, if I HAD to choose one, it would be lowered version. Thanks for another great video. Keep up the fantastic work.
Great colour on that Char.... Rodger Dodger .( As a diehard Mopar fanatic , I'm always confused with this particular Challenger fronted '71+ Charger- Bee ! ) My lil new tip I tried :- trim off the axles "semi circles" on the chassis as I found some lowered cars levitate - so to speak . I'm at the stage where I paint ( & or molotow pen ) the side markers , grilles & tail lights for that extra pop . The new chassis are superbly detailed & can be done very nicely .
Just a general comment about your channel. It has become my new zen. I really like the subject matter, even though I am not a Matchbox enthusiast (although, I might be turning into one!). There is something soothing about these videos. Who knows, maybe I'll find something cool at the flea market this Spring and I'll try my hand at a restoration. Keep up the good work.
Thanks to your wheel bearing measurements, I've started milling new bearings to convert new castings into Redline replicas for exactly this reason - I just wanna know what they'd look like! Cool vid
Three great choices for this casting: Color, lowered chassis and wheels. Video worth the wait. Another great job, but please don't forget your "Beginners Video" Playlist. Only one video so far - posted over 2 months ago. thx / Jack
Best custom yet. Lower look is better, and that paint is sweet.
Nice job! I really liked the lowered result better, and agree on the preference for wider redlines on this car. I always enjoy these videos. Thanks so much for making them.
Same, I like the lowered look too.
But also I think it might have looked better if the engine was a little smaller. I like the realistic look on cars.
Lowering the car was definitely the right call! It's got a much meaner look when it's further down, it compliments that big engine.
Guitarded And Broke I subscribed to your channel
Hot cars The channel thank you for the support!!!
have you collected the world's smallest one?
@@PimPonio68 I have. They’re a lot of fun to race also.
This car is absolutely gorgeous. The dropped stance looks great as well
Wow! that finished car looks sharp, great work.
Ah I miss having a Roger dodger! I had the old one. I lost the engine so I gave it to my nephew. Aaaaand now it's destroyed.. also I love your videos you should do just one car you do your very best on. Like REALLY detail it!
nothing to stop you 'reclaiming it' and trying your own resto :)
I actually gasped when I saw that color holy moly.
WOW! What an improvement! Great color choice and the finish is beautiful! The wheel and tire choice just rounds out the package.
The wide wheels and lowered stance really give it that old school look, paint turned out great! Thanks for the video
That looks incredible!!!! The lowered look is perfect along with the new redline wheels. Paint is awesome. You do magnificent work!!!!
That came out so well, looks so much better with the lowered stance and wider redlines. And the blue spectra-flame looks spectactular.
The car looks awesome when you finish
Definitely the lowered look! Worth the extra time spent! Finished product looks awesome!
I love the lowered look and modern redlines as well. Even the blue paint is awesome. It’s my favorite color. This sat turned out excellent.
I wish you had the time and resources to update daily because I genuinely love your restoration videos. I could watch these for hours!
I love it...
Having it lowered and the big wheels make the car a monster which is always good.
There's something very satisfying about seeing the comparison to before and after, especially with the great work you put in
Definitely worth the effort in lowering this one - chalk and cheese in my opinion. Another fab video thank you!
That looks awesome! I find that painting the under side of the interior plastic black helps it go unnoticed. I also find it easier to cut the rod by rolling it on a flat surface with an exacto knife instead of using a dremel. Keep up the good work.

My favourite end result yet.
Gorgeous car
Looks great. Your videos has inspired me to restore some of my old cars. I find it relaxing and cheaper than working on larger plastic models.
beautiful paint job
New film, new car! Wow! :) Car looks great, nice color and wheels! :]
Everything you’ve done has improved the look of the car. Thanks for sharing.
God, that is a gorgeous finished product! Really sharp looking car!
Brilliant build and conversion , simple and effective , great looking car..!!
The lowered look is a definite improvement. The colour is spectacular!
That SpectraFlame blue is gorgeous! Reminds me of my dad's '53 Chevy hot rod which was painted in a similar shade of dark blue.
This one turned out awesome, the lowering made a huge difference in the overall look of the finished car.
Great video as always and the blue with black accents on the sides and back was an excellent paint choice and the dropped height with some meaty tires is just what this Rodger Dodger needed to make is damn near perfect! I can’t wait to see more builds like this in the future.

That's the first time I've heard the expression "drop the car" on a Hot Wheels car.. Looks great.
Wow this one looks amazing.. What a huge improvement to the original stance of the car.
Excellent work

Going to give that a try!
baremetalHW Sorry, I need to make a correction. Get hot water from the tap, then microwave it for a minute or two to heat up the water
Maybe a hair dryer could be used to either heat up the car or help to dry it off before paint stripper is applied.
I'm getting a Mad Max vibe from this car because of the wheels, lowered body and the engine. Good work once again!
The new wheels really set off that body style. Looks great!
Great job the lowering of the wheels and the larger wheels make it look much better.
WOW what a difference! I have been a rodgerdoger fan for a long time. Love the new redlines and the lowered look! Great job!
Lowering it was the right choice! It looks SICK!!
Beautiful choice of color and wheels turned out awesome definitely looks better lowered thanks for sharing
Slamming it down was definitely the way to go. I found this video a little more interesting since I had that hotwheel as a kid, and I think I still do.
I made a similar Roger Dodger for a close friend of mine who collects that casting. I really like your touch on the louvers. Nice work and great choice of color.
Another excellent job. I really prefer the "lower look". The blue paint looks amazing. Thanks for your hard work. Really enjoyed the video.
The dropped look is much improved, I would say it doesn't look dropped, it looks normal. This car turned out great, well done thanks
Great results! Love the color and the lowering. The wheels fits really well too.
Beautiful! The lowered stance really fits this car better. Great job!
Came across this channel yesterday by accident and I’m hooked . Great channel 👍

This one looks fantastic. The newer wheels fits the lowered Rodger Dodger's looks. The spectraflame blue fits this perticular car. Great job man.
That is a sick piece of work. I'm diggin' the lowered stance and modern Redline wheels. Keep it up!

Wow... no thank you!
Awesome "lowering" job to boot. Looks great!
Indeed the lowered result is great, although the original gap did aid in the classic big tire muscle car look, it was certainly improved by the body drop. Nice work!
Great job. The car looks fantastic with the red lines and lowered stance. Cheers !
Great job as always. The lowered version and as well as the new tires look better and are worth the extra work. Thank you
car looks great!! the subtle lowering gives it the look it should've had from mattel
One of my favorites. I like it better dropped than before when it was raised.
Well done!!! Love how that blue paint layed down
Another fantastic job! Both raised, and lowered examples look good. But, if I HAD to choose one, it would be lowered version. Thanks for another great video. Keep up the fantastic work.
Love this. Paint and lowering are excellent
Best spectraflame job you’ve done yet!
Awesome job! That blue came out really nice, and all of the choices you made definitely improved the car!
Car turned out awesome love the lower look. The wider tires are great.
Wow! You nailed that one! Absolutely perfect!
I love the original green paint, but I love the wheels you put on the final car.
1000% better than the available model, especially when lowered, and given some sexy Redlines. Nice one.
This... is the most top notch custom, of all time.
That blue is just gorgeous
Instantly one of my favorite videos by you. Great work.
Great job , i will say the lowered look is the way to go . Keep redoing these cars , its great . Look forward to your new videos , Mike
This was way nice, love that you lowered the wheels.... I didnt think much of it but really made it look better!!!
The blue paint is beautiful.
this is an absolute beast of a custom hot wheels wish i had time to do one like this great video
The car looks great! Another vote for the lowered look.
I liked the bare metal look, looked totally chromed out. The lowered looked pretty slick
That car looks absolutely beautifull. Hoverver, that big chip on the rear fender at 6:20 is a total bummer.
WOW Lowered! That was pretty cool how you lowered it. I really like doing the polishing one way also.
Just a general comment about your channel. It has become my new zen. I really like the subject matter, even though I am not a Matchbox enthusiast (although, I might be turning into one!). Awesome car, i like the lowered look , car looks much better when lowered , paint was done perfect . Mike Espo
Your take on the car looks 1,00000 times better, great job
Thanks to your wheel bearing measurements, I've started milling new bearings to convert new castings into Redline replicas for exactly this reason - I just wanna know what they'd look like! Cool vid
slick job! you make it look easy with all your experience
Great choice of color! And yeah, the lowered look gives it a better stance.
I like the beefy wheels and lowered look. Also can you do a modern Deora please.
Lowered all day. Awesome paint color
I think it looks great lowered. Really nice custom.
Excellent videos and excellent results. You have a gift and a talent.
I like the lowered look but I like the thinner wheels, I don't like them sticking out. I love the new paint job, very nice!
Three great choices for this casting: Color, lowered chassis and wheels. Video worth the wait. Another great job, but please don't forget your "Beginners Video" Playlist. Only one video so far - posted over 2 months ago. thx / Jack
Good point thanks for reminding me
This rodger is brutal...
Soo very beautiful
the lower stance looks really good, and though i'm not a fan of the modern real rider redline wheels, they work well with this. great job, per usual!
I completely agree, the "lowered" version actually looks normal to me, and certainly feels more correct.
WOW, this proves that sometimes less is more, this simplified look, greatly improved the car,it was just too bust before
Dumped on wide wheels. This looks totally badass!!!
