Hey Ray and Kevin! We loved the knit knights - looking forward to the next one. Thank you both for hosting. Have been loving the podcast and all the makes - hmmm your Honey Comb and Dotted Rays are so inspiring that I’m thinking of bumping it up in my queue. Thanks for the fun video (with plenty of yarn candy).
Beautiful dyed yarns. Love the pink and gray. Also, very lovely and expertly knit FO from you both and the cowl pattern looks lovely. Looking forward to knitting it. Your discussions of the items you knit, your success and failures with upsizing, colors, etc are very helpful. Many podcasts just quickly show items and although it is great to see the FO, the watcher doesn’t get a feel of what it was like to knit it, or the decision making process. You guys help with that a lot! Keep up the great podcasts. Thanks!!
Greetings from Canada! Couldn’t agree more with your “found my people” comment! On a regular basis I am completely humbled by the warmth and kindness shown to me from this community. Our viewers recommended your podcast and I am so enjoying following your fibre journey...you’re both great company when I’m working in my sew studio.👍
Aww thank you so very much!! We agree (if we haven’t said it enough already lol 😂) that this community is by far the most generous and amazing group of people!
I watch many fiber podcasts and what I like about yours and fiber hustle and a few more is that you’re real. You share your lives and chit chat and have funny moments that make it fun to watch. I like that you’re not prepared because it’s entertaining. If you were perfect I would probably not watch. I enjoy watching you while I’m knitting or crocheting and I enjoy seeing your projects. Congrats on your dyeing project Keep up the great work!
Dirty Ballerina might be my favorite yet! I hope it gets repeated, along with the blue/grey in that shawl. 😍 Also, a tip for skeining yarn - attach a hook to the wall and put the yarn over it. You can wind it tight, way easier. Also, also, I always let the dyers know when I release a pattern with their yarn. ❤️
I feel the same way on my moms anniversary of passing. She also passed away 4 years ago and I was also going through my husbands illness on top of losing our oldest furry baby two weeks before we lost my mom. I tend to take the month of January and just keep busy. Congrats on your Etsy shop. I sell in Facebook groups (cross stitch stuff) and do well, no fees to Etsy. Best of luck with everything.
Kevin, Ray, yes, give the yarn dyer a courtesy “heads up” a bit before you release your pattern; that way they can plan to prepare a supply of the colorway(s) you feature (so customers don’t get frustrated with the dyer if the colors are sold out or discontinued)- this wisdom was shared by River Knits on a podcast Q&A I saw recently. 😀
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast the discussion where I learned this was via Fay Dashper-Hughes’ Crochet Circle Podcast; she’s a creative professional, designer and business owner, who is committed to sharing yarn-y knowledge and expertise- find her on Instagram @crochet_circle_podcast 😀
@Ashley Moschel basically, my “take” on this is that a spirit of mutual respect and support goes a long way between those who create patterns and the people who supply the product (yarn) and tools (needles, hooks, etc.) 🧶💫🌱😀
Great everything! Projects, socks and shawl, future cardigan, yarns, your yarns. Beautiful everything! Looking forward to the next Saturday's zoom and whenever knitting in the park happens. Some of the gang from the Knit New Haven group social distanced/masked knit outside the store yesterday! Best wishes for more April!

I’ve been an emotional wreck the past week and listening to the first 18 minutes I was full of emotions hearing you, Kevin, talk about your 2 weeks. Also how adorable is Ray: “your highs are my highs and your lows are my lows”?!
So I’m going to forgive y’all for doing the Etsy shop when I was on vacation. I didn’t get a single piece of yarn and I’m so sad lol. But seriously, congratulations on a successful shop opening. I’m so happy for you two. Y’all are the cutest. I just love watching y’all. Y’all have made me laugh at some of the hardest days of my life. I lost my grandfather who was my anchor and then a few months later I lost my precious baby niece before I even got to hold her. You guys bring levity to people who need it as well as just being an overall great podcast. Thanks. Please keep doing all the fiber things.
Kevin... I love the name "dirty ballet slippers" for your yarn...I will make a cowl and wear it in class with my dirty ballet slippers and washed out tights....think of. renaming it to your original idea..just love it. Your dyed yarn is just amazing!!!!!
Congrats on 8K...I’m not surprised! Hope to see more yarn in your Etsy shop! Ray, I have total confidence that you will creat an awesome cardigan -you got this! Cardinals...my mother used to feed the backyard birds before she died. My dad took over the role until he died. Then it became my role and when I was late or forgot to feed the birds I heard a bird yelling and it didn’t stop until I went to the back door where a cardinal was looking through the door and chirping up a storm. This happened on 2 separate occasions! I believe!
Hey guys! Love your podcast. I have watched you from the start. From one HP fan to another, it’s a Time Turner. Just thought I’d mention it in case no one else did. I will definitely knit one. Excited for your pattern release.
Congratulations 🥳 for reaching over 8000 😊 you both have encouraged me to learn to read a pattern . I am a visual learner , love the work you show . After a long day in mental health care , very relaxing to watch other people share the love of the finer community. Thank you 😊
Every year on the anniversary of certain losses, I struggle, and it ends up having like a hangover effect for several days. My heart's with you. Other things: Salad with frosting ✅ Court of Silver Flames 🥳 Dying all the things 🌈 Love you guys. Thanks for another great visit.
Hi Justine - Totally get the hangover feeling, that is the perfect description. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, we really appreciate it.
Kevin, the Dotted Rays yarn reminds me of Oreo ice cream. Your mother will love it. It's great to see other knitters who are attracted to yarn pooling. I, too, love pooling.
Love that y’all are on today. I’m so in need of your happy humor 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🧶 Kevin I totally feel you. It’s been 37 years and it still happens. I miss my mom lots!! Omgosh I hope I can buy something on your next shop update 👍🏻🧶🧡 I love Michael from Piece4peace. He’s awesome too! You two are one of my top ten for sure. You’ve added happiness during a crazy time of life🧡🧡🧡 My adult household of four all got our first vaccine. We get our second one on 4/29 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Kevin the Dotted Rays shawl is beautiful. Your mom will love it😍
Hey you two from so far away :) You're my favourite podcast boys and I watch many! Ray; you never ever boring me, I like your humorand every episode you make me laugh at least several times....evenso does Kevin...you're both so lovely, kind and supported to eachother and to us. Every 2 weeks I enjoy your video so much! Keep up going the way you do :) A big hug for Kevin...I know the feelings about missing, my father passed away when I was 14...its a long time ago but there are still moments off missing...and it's okay...that feeling shows how much you loved him! (It's a bit difficult to express myself properly maybe, because English is not my native language but I hope you both understand what I'm trying to say...it comes from a good heart :)) A lot of love from the Netherlands!
Love watching you two. At 45 min I saw there was still an hour left and I was like "Yes!". I hope you sell that Dirty Ballerina, such a beautiful color. Can't wait to see what Ray comes up with in his color way. Oh and Ray I miss your sound effect with the Whips, lol.
Hi Wanda!! I am hoping to sell the Dirty Ballerina, I am working on repeating the color. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I told Ray about missing his sound effects :)
Ray when you do the cable cast on in the round, add one stitch and then when you join, you can knit the added stitch with the first stitch to get rid of that awkward first stitch! :) Love the hat!
Found you through Jodi, so excited for a new podcast to binge! Also yes to letting the yarn dyer know you are putting out a pattern in their yarn - not because you need their permission or anything, just to give them a heads up cuz they might get an influx of orders based on people wanting to match your sample - and some dyers will also cross-promote the pattern release too!
Hello from Mounds Illinois. I knit my socks on 9 “ circular needles I use the RUclips video from The Crazy Sock Lady . Every yarn store that I go to have closed. Neither was very close to me one was an hour away the other one was three hours away both were in other states. Hopefully one will open again that I can visit. That would make a beautiful shawl. The gray and gold is so beautiful and looks so soft.
You two always make my day when you have a podcast posted. Kevin, I Love the dirty ballerina 🧶. You will rock the cardigan, don’t let an experience guide scare you, you are a very talented knitter Ray!
I'm so happy I watched this episode! The friendly banter made me laugh and I was motivated to join your spring mal. It's time to bring out the trunk of forgotten wips.
I’m new-ish to your podcast and thoroughly enjoy it! I’ve subscribed and now want to binge-watch your episodes starting with #1. Congrats on a fun, interesting podcast!
I wish someone would do skeins with turquoise dotted like the scarf you are wearing. I would be happy with a white background with turquoise spots. Turquoise is my favorite color.
I’m here for the feelings ALL DAY!!! Congrats on the launch of your Etsy shop and your subscribers!!! You’ve been a highlight of the last 16 months for us ❤️🧶
Hello guys! I really enjoyed this episode! Kevin, if you knit up that yarn you died, I think you will love the way it works up, ! Also, all your knitting projects are beautiful! I do very much look forward to catching up with you guys, so please don’t stop podcasting! See you next time!
Really enjoying your podcast. Ray, I like the details you give on your sock this time and on your projects in general. Both of you were great on this in’s.
So fun once again, gents. Re: letting dyers know, you don't need any permission, you bought the yarn, but the dye artists love to be tagged on Instagram, etc with your projects. Sometimes I have given a yarn dyer a code for 10% off a pattern that uses their yarn for their email lists. I think it is an individual thing. Shirstycat told me she likes to know ahead of time in case she is running short of a repeatable colorway, and she can bank a few of them if folks start wanting it to make the pattern. That probably just applies to the superstars who sell a gazillion patterns on first release. I try to make sure there are alternates in the pattern - so no matter what yarn people like, indie or big box, they can find the right weight and make the pattern. xx, @Professor-Purl PS Every time Ray said "9 inch circs" I giggled. They are SO polarizing for people. I swear by them. Anyway, thanks again for a lovely watch. No, it was not a "poop show" though when Ray got stranded it was amusing to watch him vamp!
Just found you guys and I'm absolutely enthralled. You're delightful! 🙂 I'm also a native to Connecticut and lover of Harry Potter. I'm happy to be adding your podcast to my rotation 💜
Yes with the stitch marker tip on the dotted rays! I got like one repeat in and I was like “I’m never going to see where my turns are LOL”. Stitch markers have been saving me. I have 1 more wedge until I’m done with the small version but I’m for sure going to do one more for that in between size now! Love you guys!
Hey You Guys!! Got my first shot a couple weeks ago, a guy passed out in the after-room. Glad you handled it well. Your Mom is gonna be thrilled with that Dotted Rays, Kevin, it's beautiful. Ray, those socks are killer. Pooling, flashing, striping - every way that yarn could show off, it did. If you use all 4 supercakes of that yarn, your blanket is going to weigh almost 9 lbs. So , cuddly, warm, soft AND it doubles as a dumbell for bicep curls. When Ray said they wanted to cut some trees, I just knew Kevin wasn't coming back because he had to explain why he couldn't lend them an AXE ...
First time viewer and loved!! You have both given me some good ideas to knit for my husband. Especially that cardigan. Will be sure to pass your PC on to my viewers. 👍🏻
I really enjoy that you guys get down to business pretty quick. You have a nice conversational natter too that makes it easy to listen. Heard about NATR from the Grocery Girls, and am binge watching from the beginning. Am currently up to #13 and excited about some new patterns that you presented. Thanks!
🌹 awww big hug Kevin! We are here for you to give you lots of support when you have low days. I’m sure you miss your father every day. Ray loves you so much and I’m sure he is your rock!
Seriously love your channel. You guys make me chuckle every time and inspire me to knit so many different things. Just catching this as I just married my wife on Sunday (day after your post). LOVE
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast thank you. We are very happy. We had a few obstacles, but our souls reunited and we couldn't be happier. Co grata on 8k and the etsy. Keep the episodes coming. I ❤ them.
another enjoyable visit with you boys, though the break toward the end was perfect because i was nodding off, our dog Jazzie got me up at 3am yesterday morning because she just had to 'go'! so i picked up after the video break this morning, just loved it all, Ray i love your colorful shawl and both pair of socks especially the ones that you are knitting socks for your Mom! and Kevin, your Mom is going to love the shawl, it will go with everything you are both such good sons! and congrats on 8000 subscribers, but im not surprised at all, you two are so much fun! have a good fortnight ! love you two! ♥♥♥
I just want to thank Ray for, bringing to my attention, 9 inch circular needles. I did try them once, and didn’t like the way they made my hands feel squished. However, I was watching another podcast and one of the girls was having an issue with ladders in her socks so she got a package of Chiagoo Twist needles that has two cords, 2-2 inch needles and 2-4 inch needles and she is using one 3 inch and a 2 inch on one cord. The reason that i’m now liking this is because I was trying to make a pair of socks out of Nutiden and every time I went from the front to the back the yarn, which is really more of a pencil roving, it would stretch and/or break. So thank you for the information. As always, I loved the podcast, it always makes me smile and sometimes giggle.
Finally catching up after making the move from Alaska to Florida, haven’t had much time for knitting or much of anything yet but the next time I see any of your yarn for sale I’m definitely going to try to get some. Best wishes from Mickey’s neighbor, Kathy.
Always good to see you both. Yeah for a shout-out from the grocery girls! Thank you for sharing. I am still working on my Batad and would love to make another west shawl .
Congratulations on 8000! You are the cool guys everybody wants to hang with now, so really no surprise that your yarn sold out in 30 seconds. You'll be at 10 grand before the end of summer. Great projects, it's always interesting to see what you pick next!

Then it became my role and when I was late or forgot to feed the birds I heard a bird yelling and it didn’t stop until I went to the back door where a cardinal was looking through the door and chirping up a storm. This happened on 2 separate occasions! I believe!
Thank you Karen! Hoping to have an Etsy shop update in a few weeks. Love the cardinal story, we see a few here and there in our yard.
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast I’m sure your (Kevin’s) dad is one of those cardinals!
Hey guys! Love your podcast. I have watched you from the start. From one HP fan to another, it’s a Time Turner. Just thought I’d mention it in case no one else did. I will definitely knit one. Excited for your pattern release.
OMG I don't know how we both missed that lol, bad hp fans lol.
I always literally LOL with you fellas! Your banter is so funny. You and Chevyrell are two shows I can't wait to watch as soon as they come out.
Thank you so much Jeanne! We have a slight crush on Chevas as well lol 😂
Congratulations 🥳 for reaching over 8000 😊 you both have encouraged me to learn to read a pattern . I am a visual learner , love the work you show .
After a long day in mental health care , very relaxing to watch other people share the love of the finer community. Thank you 😊
Thank you so much Lisa!
Every year on the anniversary of certain losses, I struggle, and it ends up having like a hangover effect for several days. My heart's with you.
Other things:

Court of Silver Flames 🥳
Dying all the things 🌈
Love you guys. Thanks for another great visit.
Hi Justine - Totally get the hangover feeling, that is the perfect description. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, we really appreciate it.
I knit the Dotted Rays using the stitch marker tip! It became such an easy knit! Kevin both of yours are fabulous!
Thank you Kathy!! The stitch markers really help.
Kevin, the Dotted Rays yarn reminds me of Oreo ice cream. Your mother will love it. It's great to see other knitters who are attracted to yarn pooling. I, too, love pooling.
Yes Karen!! Love the pooling! And you’re totally right about the Oreo ice cream...yum ❤️❤️
Great show! Have a pleasant Sunday! 🙂
Thank you! You too!
Love that y’all are on today. I’m so in need of your happy humor 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🧶
Kevin I totally feel you. It’s been 37 years and it still happens. I miss my mom lots!!
Omgosh I hope I can buy something on your next shop update 👍🏻🧶🧡
I love Michael from Piece4peace. He’s awesome too!
You two are one of my top ten for sure. You’ve added happiness during a crazy time of life🧡🧡🧡
My adult household of four all got our first vaccine. We get our second one on 4/29 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Kevin the Dotted Rays shawl is beautiful. Your mom will love it😍
Hi Debbie! Thank you so much for watching and all the kind words, we really appreciate it.
Keep up going the way you do :)
A big hug for Kevin...I know the feelings about missing, my father passed away when I was 14...its a long time ago but there are still moments off missing...and it's okay...that feeling shows how much you loved him!
(It's a bit difficult to express myself properly maybe, because English is not my native language but I hope you both understand what I'm trying to say...it comes from a good heart :))
A lot of love from the Netherlands!
Hi Ina - Thank you for sharing about your father, losing a love one is so tough and the moments it impacts you is so random.
Thanks so much Holly!! 🥰
Hi Julianna - Thank you so much for checking out the channel, we really appreciate it. Thank you for the info on letting the yarn dyer know.
Ray, the swatch for your cardigan is so gorgeous. That's gonna be a great sweater.
Thanks Sandy!! I’m so excited to cast on 🥰
Hello from Mounds Illinois.
Hi Janet!! Here is to hoping a new store opens near you.
Kevin, I’m really enjoying watching you learn about dyeing. I haven’t caught the dyeing bug yet, but it’s fun to see someone learning.
Thank you Diana!! It is really fun to play with colors and find what works and what doesn't.
You two always make my day when you have a podcast posted. Kevin, I Love the dirty ballerina 🧶. You will rock the cardigan, don’t let an experience guide scare you, you are a very talented knitter Ray!
Thank you Tamara!
I'm so happy I watched this episode! The friendly banter made me laugh and I was motivated to join your spring mal. It's time to bring out the trunk of forgotten wips.
Thank you so much Lucy!
I’m new-ish to your podcast and thoroughly enjoy it! I’ve subscribed and now want to binge-watch your episodes starting with #1. Congrats on a fun, interesting podcast!
Hi Angela - Thank you so much for checking out our channel, we really appreciate it.
Oh my. You guys are such fun!
I hope everything goes your way!!!
Aww thanks Brenda!! We hope it all goes your way too 🥰🥰
Love the dirty ballerina colourway - it's my favourite combo and it came out so beautiful.
Thank you Roxi, I am going to try and repeat the color.
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast yay!
Another entertaining video. Thanks for all your efforts.
Thank you Cameron!
Kevin your Dotted Rays is beautiful!! Ray you’re always so upbeat and happy, I just love watching you guys!!
Thank you so much Cassandra!
I wish someone would do skeins with turquoise dotted like the scarf you are wearing. I would be happy with a white background with turquoise spots. Turquoise is my favorite color.
That would be really pretty, love turquoise.
I’m here for the feelings ALL DAY!!! Congrats on the launch of your Etsy shop and your subscribers!!! You’ve been a highlight of the last 16 months for us ❤️🧶
Thank you so much!! Aww you are too kind, meeting you guys has definitely been one of the benefits of all of this.
Love the tonal green you dyed!
Thank you!!
Hello guys! I really enjoyed this episode! Kevin, if you knit up that yarn you died, I think you will love the way it works up, ! Also, all your knitting projects are beautiful! I do very much look forward to catching up with you guys, so please don’t stop podcasting! See you next time!
Thank you so much, we really appreciate all the kind words.
yes I've been waiting all week for you guys
Thank you Domenica!
Super fun podcast! I hope to get some of your beautifully dyed yarn next time!
Thank you Monica!
Really enjoying your podcast.
Ray, I like the details you give on your sock this time and on your projects in general.
Both of you were great on this in’s.
Thank you so much Joyce!! We’re super glad you enjoyed it 🥰🥰
So fun once again, gents.
Hi Christopher!! Thank you so much for the info on reaching out to a yarn dyer, I really appreciate it.
Just found you guys and I'm absolutely enthralled. You're delightful! 🙂 I'm also a native to Connecticut and lover of Harry Potter. I'm happy to be adding your podcast to my rotation 💜
Aww thanks so much! Glad to meet someone else from CT 🥰😂
Thanks Nicole!! I agree, just that extra repeat wedge made such a difference 🥰
Hi Kitten - Congrats on getting your 1st shot. LOL they didn't have an axe, but they were super nice and charged my battery for me.
First time viewer and loved!! You have both given me some good ideas to knit for my husband. Especially that cardigan. Will be sure to pass your PC on to my viewers. 👍🏻
Aww thanks so much! Glad we could help bring some ideas and inspiration 🥰🥰
That's awesome that you reached 8 thousand knit on!
Thank you Debora!
I really enjoy that you guys get down to business pretty quick. You have a nice conversational natter too that makes it easy to listen. Heard about NATR from the Grocery Girls, and am binge watching from the beginning. Am currently up to #13 and excited about some new patterns that you presented. Thanks!
Aww thanks Denise! We’re glad you are enjoying it as much as we do making them 🥰
🌹 awww big hug Kevin! We are here for you to give you lots of support when you have low days. I’m sure you miss your father every day. Ray loves you so much and I’m sure he is your rock!
Thank you so much Veronica!!
Really great episode. I can't wait to see your new Stephen West shawl. You have such a great eye for color! Ray - your socks are amazing!
Thank you Syls :)
Seriously love your channel. You guys make me chuckle every time and inspire me to knit so many different things. Just catching this as I just married my wife on Sunday (day after your post). LOVE
Omg congrats 🎈🍾🎊🎉 Thats amazing 🥰🥰 Cheers to a lifetime of happiness ❤️❤️
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast thank you. We are very happy. We had a few obstacles, but our souls reunited and we couldn't be happier. Co grata on 8k and the etsy. Keep the episodes coming. I ❤ them.
I REALLY like the idea of the purl bump at the bottom of the cuff. Im going to do that with my next pair!!
Thanks friend! It definitely makes a difference with the fit too. I hate when socks scrunch down lol 😂
another enjoyable visit with you boys, though the break toward the end was perfect because i was nodding off, our dog Jazzie got me up at 3am yesterday morning because she just had to 'go'! so i picked up after the video break this morning, just loved it all, Ray i love your colorful shawl and both pair of socks especially the ones that you are knitting socks for your Mom! and Kevin, your Mom is going to love the shawl, it will go with everything you are both such good sons! and congrats on 8000 subscribers, but im not surprised at all, you two are so much fun! have a good fortnight ! love you two! ♥♥♥
Hi Lynn - Thank you so much for watching and commenting, we really appreciate it.
Aww thanks 😊 we’re glad we could help bring a smile to your face 🥰🥰
Great job hand dying colors!! They r so nice
Thank you Danielle!
You guys are the best!! I love your podcast!💕💕 Absolutely loved the Susan Lucci reference 😂
😊 thank you Joy
First time watching and I'm hooked ! You have some great show and tell. Can't wait for the next one
Aww thanks Lanita! We’re so glad you came by to say hello 🥰
Finally catching up after making the move from Alaska to Florida, haven’t had much time for knitting or much of anything yet but the next time I see any of your yarn for sale I’m definitely going to try to get some. Best wishes from Mickey’s neighbor, Kathy.
Hi Katherine - Congrats on the move!
You can totally do it Ray. That's going to be a gorgeous cardigan.
Thank you Fizz, really excited to get started on it next month.
Always good to see you both. Yeah for a shout-out from the grocery girls! Thank you for sharing. I am still working on my Batad and would love to make another west shawl .
Thank you so much Kathy!!
Congratulations on 8000! You are the cool guys everybody wants to hang with now, so really no surprise that your yarn sold out in 30 seconds. You'll be at 10 grand before the end of summer. Great projects, it's always interesting to see what you pick next!
Thank you Mesheela! Always great to hear from you.
@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcast Just Sheela. Yeah, knitting podcasts were one of the better side effects of this whole last year.
