A Florida mayor issued a stark warning that residents will die if they don’t evacuate as Hurricane Milton races towards the state’s west coast. The potential “once in a lifetime” storm rapidly intensified from a Category 1 to a Category 5 hurricane on Monday with sustained winds surpassing 180mph, before slowing to Category 4 on Tuesday. The National Hurricane Center has warned that Milton may regain strength and grow in size, posing “even more danger” as it is expected to make landfall in Florida by Wednesday evening, slamming into the densely populated Tampa Bay.

One advantage of high speed rail is that you can evacuate millions of people in a relatively short period of time. Too bad Governor Rick Scott killed high speed rail in and out of Tampa.
Maybe you should tell people that the classification system only counts wind, does not count storm surge waves, rainfall, flooding, and liquid mud. The NE Florida is supposed to get a lot of rain and flooding. To be safe looks like you need to be right out of state or at least the very far NW corner.

I learned in 2020, conservatives don't listen to scientists.
These AI's are getting better.
Hi man I'm no expert here and this is going to sound stupid , but what if a tactical nuclear bomb is dropped on the storm , or even a MOAB , will the heat have any effect on the storm to slow it down ? I doubt it but it would be interesting to see the effect it would have with all that heat but that would require permission from all North American countries , and it probably won't have any effect
@@bribay I think the AI might be SonnyRick.
I hope people check in on their elderly neighbors and those who are disabled. Evacuation can be the toughest on them. I really hope all can get out of there and try not to weather out the storm. It's going to wipe out the dangered areas period. There's also those who don't have the means to do so, I just hope they were able to get to bus' and public transit that is willing to take them more inland. I pray this storm loses momentum before it hits.
exactly and those who have no car
People in SC, NC, TN are still facing blocked roads and in need of warm clothes, good tents, propane, water, and gas/diesel.
Add to that disaster still trying to find people, this is definitely a record year for weather and the wrath of nature.
I have a friend who lives where the eye of Helene went. Fortunately they're ok. But this hurricane will swipe them this time too.
I will be watching the path and see if they need my help.
Well get used to it because this has been talked about for a few decades now by scientists, but so many Americans think they know better
@@ninemoonplanet rath of our leaders
What do you expect? When you treat your planet like 💩, eventually there are consequences. It's just ashame that those that suffer them the most aren't the real problem. The ones that caused this mess are too busy in their fancy homes living on the sweat and tears of those that this storm will harm.

There are literally hundreds of people with vehicles looking for anyone who doesn't have a place to live. State, Federal and local.
There are shelters set up for them and anyone who can't drive out.
Nothing, they gave all the money to the foreigners
They gave all the money to the immigrants

Why isn’t DeSantis picking up Harris or Biden’s phone 😡😡

Because this is a fact 😂.
Because he's too busy doing everyone else's job in Florida.
I'll never forget, esp. in November when I vote, that Trump won't send ventilators to states unless they were nice to him, and Biden aided a state that hates him. One's a politician. One's a leader.

Please stop saying "once in a lifetime storm". These are not once in a lifetime. Anymore.
what about the hospitals, homeless people
Hospitals, seniors homes, people who are unhoused have been moved out to shelters or hospitals outside the main storm path. They started that over the weekend.
There is only one party that is addressing the root cause of these weather disasters with climate change mitigation legislation for the transition to a green economy. The other party continues to deny global warming is even a problem. It seems like it would be a no-brainer for the younger generation, with the most to loose, to make election choices (and no, I don't mean the green party, you have to get elected to make legislation).
😂😂😂😂😂 hurricanes have been happening long before man walked the earth.
Better safe than sorry. Please get out of there.
WoW. I'm glad that my EV came with 3 portable batteries. It gets me 60 miles of additional milage added to the 350 miles from my home charger. The gas stations are closing.
What EV comes with portable battery ? And ya, the gas station are closed. It’s much easier to charge at home
What EV is this? I didn’t know there was one with portable batteries

My friends who live in South Tampa are evacuating to Odessa. I wish they were getting out of the hurricane zone completely but it's the most they are willing to do. Helene already caused water flooding damage and they fear Milton could destroy their home completely as the only live about a mile inland in a 1 story bungalow.
How many once in a lifetime storms can one season have? Before Republicans accept climate change, is real? Asking for a generation.
We accept climate change is real, we just don’t make it a religion and worship it like you idiots do.
We are in Tarpon Springs. Everyone is getting ready. Not everyone can evacuate but there are shelters available with free bus transportation to them. Sadly there is still so much debris piled up along the pinellas county coast from people who lost all their belongings from Helene.
That debris is the biggest hazard. Apparently the state is pushing the companies to pick up trash 24 hrs a day to get it removed. 😳
Praying for you guts
oh that is good too know, there is too much focus on those who have cars, not everyone has a car
Gives me chills.. I hope everybody heeds the warning and gets out.
I can’t believe we will experience 2nd big hurricane in 10days
Don't forget in 2004 we experienced 4 hurricanes in 6 weeks. Charlie, Frances, Gene and Ivan!

One advantage of high speed rail is that you can evacuate millions of people in a relatively short period of time. Too bad Governor Rick Scott killed high speed rail in and out of Tampa.
Are poor people having access to leave as well - those with no vehicles/homeless?
Exactly what I am wondering😮
They have bicycles.
Maybe you should tell people that the classification system only counts wind, does not count storm surge waves, rainfall, flooding, and liquid mud. The NE Florida is supposed to get a lot of rain and flooding. To be safe looks like you need to be right out of state or at least the very far NW corner.

Storm surge could get up to 15 feet. In Florida, the average elevation is 5 ft above sea level. It may be unlikely, but this storm surge could cross the entire state, and flood the east coast with water from the west coast.
