So Mesenbrink remembered the finger wave to Carr on the escape but forgot about the riding time point. That was very undisciplined relative to the PSU wrestling standard, and I love the PSU wrestling brand.
Good points. Happy for Carr. Messenbrink's relentlessness (generally) is a force. Look forward to hopefully seeing him battle it out with O'Toole next year, hopefully in the finals.
Do a break down on Mesenbrink taking 20 half shots, ineffectively pressuring, and antics after the whistle forced a close match in which he had less takedowns and gave up a riding point.
@@sc-wrestling. Stop bringing your personal feelings into your content! David Carr was the most outstanding wrestler! How he beat Keegan otoole and messywimp was amazing! @professorxaviour3649 he not only beat otoole and mitch but he also beat Dean Hamiti who is another great wrestler and all American. Carr absolutely deserved that title. He went through a meat grinder.
Anti climactic? Carr scored more points. Messenbrink should’ve prevented that. Everyone’s 100% sure that Messenbrink would’ve been able to score if he knew he was down a point which is insane to me. The better wrestler won. Period.
I wanted Carr to win as always. I’m still glad he won. But he started to gas and got noticeably tired. If Messenbrink doesn’t get the takedown which he has a good shot of getting if he actually tried to shoot on him (don’t know why he wasn’t) seeing how noticeably bias the ref was towards Messenbrink, Carr would’ve gave up a stalling point. And if it goes to OT I think Mitchell gets it cause of Gas. But I agree Carr was the better wrestler. Shouldn’t leave it up to time, Messenbrink always stayed on the attack no matter what, don’t know why he…. Didn’t.
He would’ve gotten the takedown same thing happened to otoole he got tired. Carr was tired mitchell thought he was tied. And mitchell tieing up with a former ncaa champ as a freshman and he wasnt gassed like carr shows alot.
@@Quintessenceofdust7 OK cool. Carr still won regardless of all the other stuff that doesn't mean squat now. Mesenbrink will have a chance for payback during Olympic trials. No use complaining about why he loss now.
I don’t think Mesenbring should have gotten any of the stalling points. Especially the first one since he was moving towards the out of bounds because of the nature of the move he used to escape; not because he was stalling. Plus he was being active in escaping - the opposite of stalling.
I think folk style needs a push out rule like freestyle. All these folks hanging around the edge of the mat for 5 minutes isn’t right. That or learn to use a stall call correctly.
I'm undecided about whether a push-out rule in folkstyle would be a good thing. I appreciate that it would help eliminate some of the questionable stall calls, but it would also take away some of the interesting strategy around edge wrestling. As much as I like wrestling because it is truly head-to-head competition, I also like the need to be strategic with clock management and the need to truly dominate in order to eliminate the referee's influence on a match's outcome. The unpredictable outcomes from edge wrestling and referee inconsistencies let the crowd play a (small but significant) role in the scoring. Almost all of us say we want total consistency with how referees make stalling calls. But deep down I realize that the possibility for controversy (as long as the referee is generally competent) actually adds to my appreciation for any sport.
Damn, I get that you wanted Meseinbrink to win, but at least hide it in your commentary! Here’s some🧀 for your 🍷! Also here’s a few 🎻 🎻 for you sad song!
Great way to avoid the incorrect stall calls as Carr was the only one shooting and being aggressive. The only reason the match was close was because of the referee’s.. goals dominance by Carr
I hear you brother and I do believe he didn't understand to a point but he wasn't gonna get the take down and all he was banking on was the stall. I het that he has relentless pace but trust me when I tell you he was tired as well. His final shots were extremely sloppy and ge was spent. Don't get me wrong Carr was definitely spent as well but there comes a time when the better wrestler wins. Carr is leap years better than this kid but he's young and will be better. Maybe he should work with Taylor in the room because there's a way to mix that pace with high level OFFENSE.
A minute to work after just getting a td with limited defense by Carr and it's unfathomable, he couldn't have got one more? Or kept the pressure up enough for another stall? We will never know and it could have went either way but witch's mental mistake was absolutely a huge factor
True but if you noticed he was going crazy with his snap downs as the seconds went down. He realized that he couldn't get it done. Is it impossible to say that maybe just maybe Mitch didn't have anything left in the tank. The kid pushed forever. I believe he was just tired.
@@FerminFigueroa-ip2os if you watch mitchs body language after the match you can clearly see he forgot about the riding time point. Not making an excuse, the mental part of the match is just as important as the skill, strength, endurance etc part of the match but it was clear as day he didn't know he was actually losing.
Beat him by stalling. The O'Toole match was a fiasco. The match was going to end with O'Toole winning to the official called stalling and reset with both inbounds after Carr stalled most of the match.
For THE must see championship match everyone was waiting for … it’s too bad the match ended like it did. Carr was good but not great. He’s already a distant thought. As for Mitch, hold on because he’s going to be a crazy and fun ride to watch and be a part of for the next 3-4 years.
Yes mitchell will be great Hell he already is. But mitch had a cake walk side of the bracket compared to carr who had hamiti , o'toole then mitch. Mitchell will be okay ..it wasn't his time this year but maybe he can get past otoole next year
As much a fan of Mess as I am, the title sure went to one of the nicest, all around paragons of pure wrestling heart.
The ref helped out a lot! It should have never been that close that it came down to that riding time point. They called stalling way to quick on Carr

Pushing in reverse then yes ha
Folkstyle needs to adopt a push out point like freestyle, so guy's can't play the edge. It would change the game for the better 💯

Carr did a great job as stalling. That is how.
Only one of Messenbrinks stall calls was warranted
Without the stall calls, Messenbrink knows he’s losing & gets the takedown in the final 30 seconds. Carr was gassed.. 🤷♂️

19 seconds ago is crazy
Short answer: by knowing the score.
“Never change the way you wrestle based on match conditions”-what a naive thing to say.
2 takedowns to 1. That's how he won. The final score wasn't anywhere close to how the match went.

Totally disagree, that type of coaching only works on kids. Mat IQ is a thing. You’re basically teaching your athletes not to think out there.
Stalling should be 2 pts . Eliminate riding time and add push outs. Wrestling might be a more enjoyable sport to watch
