Yep. I was almost 17 and had big brown eyes. And told him "you ain't seen nothing yet." And flashed my 34Cs, plus. I think he's still recovering, almost 50 years later. LOLZ.
Its first debut on AT 40 with Casey Kasem on 10/5/1974.Lasted until the week ending 12/21/1974 & turned out into Christmas Week of that year. Also,It is BTO's first & only TOP 10 Hit single in Music History.
I'm 50, and the guitar in this song STILL makes me weep like a 10 year old girl! There's just something about the memories of high school and the haunting guitar in this! Never gets old! lol
People always talk about Hendrix or Clapton or another when they refer to great guitarists. I always thought Randy Bachman and when they were together, Blair Thornton. If you listen to Not Fragile with head phones or a very discrete stereo, you can hear Randy playing lead in one ear and Blair playing lead in the other. Purely Awesome!
Now THIS is a tune for a Sunday drive in the summer. Clear blue skies, fields of golden grain, driving with the top down, hair blowing in the wind, picnic hamper in the boot.
Mitch, I hear ya. 1974, I was 19 years old in the United States Marine Corps and getting ready to be transferred to Okinawa. 30 days leave before I left. Wow a lot of partying and I blew a whole months pay. Broke when I arrived at Camp Foster, love to return to 1974.
Heard this song on the radio for the first time LAST WEEK... and that chorus was so distinctive that after a single listen I had it stuck in my head. Had to look it up and listen to it again.
From what I understand, this track was a work track they used when testing sound levels and EQs in the studio; and the lyrics Randy Bachman wrote reference his brother who had a horrible stutter and eventually met and fell in love with a woman who also had a horrible stutter. Funny stuff, man; and a great tune.
I love the whole story of it being written as a joke track and Randy Bachman not taking it seriously and then getting their only US No.1 out of it! I love the chords and arrangement plus the fact that this is how he sung it the first time with the jokey conviction in his voice. One of the best accidental tracks ever released in my opinion!
Yeah, sure. They "accidentely" ripped-off one the most iconic tracks by The Who. The only great part of this song is the chorus riff which they lifted straight from Baba O'Riley. The rest of the song is mediocre. They cheated themselves to No 1. Good for them, i guess.
@@ankihansen2489 You know I was referring to the chorus, not the rest of the song, right? The guitar riff used in the chorus and the main riff of Baba O'Riley are one and the same. I don't really see how you can not hear that. Just listen to both songs. The only difference is the key. Same time signatures. Same rhythm. Play them on a guitar yourself if you need clarification. A, E, D for this one. F, C, B-Flat for Baba. All power chords in both case. Simple. Baba O'Riley came out 3 years earlier. And The Who were one of the most famous rock bands in the world and at their peak in popularity at the time. It's as obvious as it gets. They stole the riff and made a nice song out of it. Whatever. Maybe it happened accidentally. They just don't deserve full credit for this. Other than that it's a cool song.
I love this song, I don't get tired listening since I discovered it in 1977, it still new to me. ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME, THANKS FOR POSTING
The first time I ever heard this song I was on my way to a retro arcade called Galloping Ghost. Now this song reminds me of that place. I love this song now

I just reread all 5 books and rewatched the show about 20 times. His drunked singing from inside of his car is an amazing scene. What a show. Really really great song too.
What a year this was, 1974, I was 9, a year or so later our fractured family would move to a new neighborhood and... New everything. I remember the name of the city we'd move to, because it brought to mind a tale from Greek lore, The Trojan Horse. The city's name was Troy. Not sure if it's because I had an Uncle who was Greek, or my mother's new/old significant other, whose last name was Alexander, but thought it was pretty cool to reside in a city called Troy. Anyways, this would be one of those songs that stuck out through the years! 💪🏼😆🤟🏼🌈🎶🎶🎶🧠⏳🛰️🎶🎶🎶🎶

Yesterday Productions You are spot on, brother !!!
I think it's stolen from Baba O'Riley
@Albert Mojica, Jr. The Part at 0:46 is the same like the first guitar part in Baba O'Riley

Another great song from a great 70's band!!
Heard this song on the radio for the first time LAST WEEK... and that chorus was so distinctive that after a single listen I had it stuck in my head. Had to look it up and listen to it again.
This was for me on a list of songs I used to put onto cassette tape in the 70s.

Let's ROCK!!! Dave Nice
I've just discovered it yesterday and i've listened at least 20 times... Very good rock music
When I reach my 80's, I will still be dancing on that song.

After the song was realeased Randy's brother stopped stuttering.
i don't know if that's true, but it sounds like one hell of a story
That's true, it was a joke and they were just playing around and the song became one of their best hits
thanks for the story, that is funny
I hear exactly the same. My dad would tell me that story every time this song came on the radio.
What. A me memories. What a. Great. Band. Rock. On woooo
