Just getting back into trainz, I REALLY appreciate this approach to route building with details throughout entire towns. It just makes route feel so real. Towns full of wonky buildings and roads to nowhere is something that always bugged me about Railworks Train Simulator.
I don't know how I missed this video back in October but thanks for the shout out. I got to playing around with created then and got zero feedback on the assets and really just kind of dropped it. I was thinking like you, there are not many non railroad buildings out there. You may have inspired me to get back on it and build more. Since you released this video, Dave Snow has built several restaurants and stores. I would search under his name on the DLS. BTW....there are road signs for those retail stores. Separate assets. Love watching your videos. Keep it up.
Being a person with 1000+ hours on cities skylines and uses the move it mod which allows you to move, select an area of what to move, and duplicate, the duplicate feature in this game makes me want to rip my hair out even though I'm not playing. Anyways great build. :)
AM another great video. I like large commercial areas too. It looks great. I feel your pain about the lack of commercial building assets and good roads. Thanks for sharing with us!
Hi Joe! Another great episode, keep 'em coming! And btw, I don't mind the more scenic side of building, it's often an overlooked part of route-building imo and its nice to see something different. Btw, you really should try a different traffic region, the carz one is old, try this (on the DLS) .
Like the no-trains-near sections, so many people miss those, or end up with spaghetti track. For other side of road, stand alone restaurants, a small city park with say a fountain across the intersection from the strip mall.
On the other side you could put in some small commercial warehouses or metal buildings, some I've seen include construction companies, appliance stores, truck/machinery dealerships, fencing or martial arts places, fountain/memorial/garden decoration stores, diners, clothing stores, sporting goods stores, beverage companies (commercial and wholesale), food wholesale companies to supply cafeterias and industrial kitchens, etc.
i would say the one that goes through the shopping center interchanges with the CSX S&C Subdivision that goes down to Rockwood PA and connects to the keystone subdivision and for the other one that will connect to the NS Pittsburgh Line/District
Great video! Just an FYI, there is a texture out there that matches the JR High detail track, I'll try to find it for you. I think it's built into T:ANE
Could you let me know what type of container wagons were being hauled out of the Portal you were demonstrating. You future video plans sound great . Thanks for your help.
I need to find a route that actually has interactive industries and sorta a freeplay mode that is basically endless, with good detail. I would pay top dollar for that lol
Hey there. :). Instead of Portals you can use out-of-sight yards and park your trains there. You can choose then if you drive them yourself or create a session for them. I use them all the time, cause I just hate not proper working portals.
Really it helps ;). Just place a forest or mountain with tunnel at the ends of your routes and place it behind. It's actually fun too cause you have total control of the trains roaming around the layout.
I was going to say the same thing..Dave Snow makes all the fast food places and stores and his quality is great. You should have no problem finding just about anything you're looking for along those lines.
I just made a lets build video where I detailed a farm halfway and I think it looks really good, but I would absolutely love it if you would tell me what you think
how about for your 1 year anniversary you do a whole video of nothing but cinematics and in areas that used to look to how they look now, like in Donny you show how it used to look and after wards you show how it looks like now, same with the trains, like how you used to use CSX locos to how you now use the official P&B locos

I enjoy the pure scenic videos. That's the part I struggle with the most in my route building. Thanks for yet another awesome video!

A cool addition would be a abandoned sper leading to a old run down freight depot like that is how the stores used to get there supplies.

I'll check it out, thanks!
honestly, I like the way you did 1of ur intersections. I tried it, and I LOVE it. THX!
Like the no-trains-near sections, so many people miss those, or end up with spaghetti track.

dang... I would love to visit the livestream... but I'll only catch the beginning, as I've got a movie thats at 7:30 CST on the 12th...

That's exactly what I'd like to do but the assets out there are a bit limited.
i would say the one that goes through the shopping center interchanges with the CSX S&C Subdivision that goes down to Rockwood PA and connects to the keystone subdivision and for the other one that will connect to the NS Pittsburgh Line/District
I love theses builds do more and keep it up dude 😀
Lovin the work Joe. Keep it up!
Hmmm if I remember right, there was a add-on for a " Pizza Hut " for trainz, and a KFC.
And maybe even a Block Buster store would also work.
Thanks approach medium you made my day
Used the YARN road in trainz
Nice video joe! You are amazing. What about to put an intermodal bus station? See you man
Thanks man, that's a good idea!
Great video! Just an FYI, there is a texture out there that matches the JR High detail track, I'll try to find it for you. I think it's built into T:ANE
I like the tracks you use
So amazing i love trainz i cant wait to actually use the website
Could you let me know what type of container wagons were being hauled out of the Portal you were demonstrating. You future video plans sound great . Thanks for your help.
Those are the trash flats available on Jointedrail.com
Approach medium I downloaded a 3pack csx set on Jointed for my route East of FL and it's on trainz 12
You can put a road down and put a one way marking spline over it
idk why, but that section of track reminds me of Chesterton IN
They're planning on building kinda like a shopping mall in the next town from me
You could add a spur to the used car lot so you could switch auto racks and maybe a boxcar
I need to find a route that actually has interactive industries and sorta a freeplay mode that is basically endless, with good detail. I would pay top dollar for that lol
25:30 make a park for railfanning
Hey there. :). Instead of Portals you can use out-of-sight yards and park your trains there. You can choose then if you drive them yourself or create a session for them.

Probably not a bad idea actually.
Really it helps ;). Just place a forest or mountain with tunnel at the ends of your routes and place it behind. It's actually fun too cause you have total control of the trains roaming around the layout.
I spent 4 years I Pennsylvania and the fast food and stors are there in dobos are like that with rail way behind and it is that conented to a Walmart
Is this trainz a new era
TheTrainLord 6776 yes
Oh ok, I can't wait until this route comes out
Building urban areas in Trainz is a pain. That is why i have 4 unfinished routes lol
Do a truck stop and a rest area along the highways
Do they have a Walmart on there, that would be a good one
And there is a DES Subway on the download station
Try quality Inn on the download station
Does it have to work with basic version if not what about tume's assets, agree about the des assets they are really good.
I'll have to take a look at TUME's stuff
Look up superstore on the DLS
You'll love what you see ;)
UPDATE: they already started the construction for the shopping mall in the next town from me
Use invisible road to connect the intersections.
I use yarn invisible.
I'll give it a try! :-)
Look on the DLS for assets by DaveSnow. You will find a lot of buildings of the type you are after, all of very good quality.
I was going to say the same thing..Dave Snow makes all the fast food places and stores and his quality is great. You should have no problem finding just about anything you're looking for along those lines.
How do you make some of the large scale background forest without killing the frame rate
Michael Rubino 2d trees
I use the fattest billboard trees I could find. That way they take up a lot of space without needing a ton of them.
What's the kuid for the crossing gates you used?
They're from Jointed Rail
When will this be released?
what is the song at 15:33?
Game Set Match by Riot
thanks
also, thanks for the great content
Extend that four lane road as a U.S or State route.
pov me downloadning a asset for 5 hours and it was one fr0m 1988 lol
What Trainz is this
"Episode 1"
(EDIT: He fixed it lol)
I like your vids :)
Try yarnish
U exited that trainz will have paint textures
I'm definitely interested in where they'll go with it ;-)
Make a dock yard
Omg finally
Yay!
I just made a lets build video where I detailed a farm halfway and I think it looks really good, but I would absolutely love it if you would tell me what you think
Cool but that intersection with the main road/highway and the normal road looks strange no offense
how about for your 1 year anniversary you do a whole video of nothing but cinematics and in areas that used to look to how they look now, like in Donny you show how it used to look and after wards you show how it looks like now, same with the trains, like how you used to use CSX locos to how you now use the official P&B locos
That would be really cool but I don't have cinematics of areas that were unfinished
IM DONE! I WONT REBUILD THIS ONE ROUTE ONE MORE TIME! THIS IS THE 5TH TIME! I GIVE UP! I have tried SO MANY TIMES
start fresh, if the route is giving enough trouble start fresh! make a brand new one
Yay!
