You're greenhouse looks so freshly done, the wood looks like new. I've always been a bit wary of greenhouses because of childhood memories of visiting friends with old moldy smelling ones. So I appreciate seeing a better way.

Handsome set up! As far as heat goes for tropicals you might consider covering either the green house or enclose the plants in plastic, it will raise the temp. by 8 degrees per layer. We use solar for our home and have to limit using any appliance that heats up especially at night or on cloudy days. So totally 😎 cool that you are discovering solar energy!

Very nice set up. Lee and Daniel are off exploring a town as Daniel loves to see inside houses. I'm home doing chores that I tend not to do as Daniel tends to interrupt, undo everything behind me, or make a bigger mess elsewhere. Also still typing and printing out my journal entries. Have eight more pages to go in the first one and the second one is about half full.

Very nice set up! I love solar power too. I’ve been there and done that! Used to teach a unit on solar panels and power storage options. The key is in the storage…which just isn’t really affordable to most and won’t be the last option for those with the money now because the technology is ripe with advancements that will make most current storage options obsolete. Not to mention ALL current storage options have substantial long term obsolescence issues that just keep getting kicker further down the street. I’m from the school of needing to have a clear and ideally permanent solution for power storage so that solar panel systems have more beneficial uses. But as far as for a cute little greenhouse the battery you have will be fun! By the way, keep Man Cave on the bucket list you will get a real one someday!

We are not looking for a lot of power here but we do have an electric outlet behind it if needed. This system is already at least three years old and definitely not the best, but again, it definitely meets our current needs. Not sure what you have against the Sapper Cave but it is real enough Man Cave for me. Other than serving as a home office, grow room, chicken brooder, storage space and day care center, it is all mine. 😂🤣😂

Thank you. It was an honor to serve my country. We don't have a solid slab under our greenhouse, just a pad made of 12" pavers. As small as ours is, we don't have to worry about it as much as a bigger one, sinking into the ground. Our greenhouse is nice but not all of them come with thermostats and fans. Hey Sapper Gardener! Consider this, you won’t be able to effectively HEAT the greenhouse with the solar and battery. I jury rigged up my greenhouse trailers with the InkbirdSmart WiFi controller too, but you will need more Watts of heat than the solar system you have. I can hold a temp above freezing with a 750/1500watt electric space heater. Mine is a small ceramic element heater that’s just enough to kill the chill! Consider that you will need electric back up to the solar system for safety if your going to keep tropics in there! Just my two cents!
Thanks Bill! I left out the clip showing we have an electric outlet right behind it on the deck just in case we run into issues with the battery life just as you stated. I may go ahead and get the adapter and additional battery I mentioned to up our storage capacity, though. Maybe linking two or three batteries to 200 wats of panels will solve the problem. Will provide updates when we get to that point. Good points to consider as we learn more in our solar power journey!
@@EssayonsFG Yup , been there done that! Heat is a funny thing when operated by electrical power! Your 200 Watts of solar are only that power under ideal circumstances what they actually produce is not effectively the same due to conversions and loss. Certainly you can do as you please, however you will find that it's a net loss and 110v ac is the way to go for heat! I hate saying trust me but I've done lots with small scale solar and it's a deadend! But lots of fun to play with!!!
Interesting setup. So, how do you provide heat during the winter inside the greenhouse? Is this solar kit powerful enough to run a 110 volt space heater of some sort with a thermostat that can turn it on and off? I’m looking at something for my greenhouse. Thanks!
Thank you. The solar heater is good for a few hours of run time but we have on grid power we can switch to for sustained cold days or overcast days. You can add more batteries for storage but any heat source will pull a lot of power. Depending on where you live will depend on if you can solely rely on solar. We had more sub freezing day time highs than usual this Winter so we found ourselves using grid power more than expected. We do have a thermostat to turn our heater on and off.

Thank you. It was an honor to serve my country. We don't have a solid slab under our greenhouse, just a pad made of 12" pavers. As small as ours is, we don't have to worry about it as much as a bigger one, sinking into the ground. Our greenhouse is nice but not all of them come with thermostats and fans.

Thank you. I researched this and saw that direct exposure shortens battery life. Now we have them under a cover from direct sun.
Hey Sapper Gardener! Consider this, you won’t be able to effectively HEAT the greenhouse with the solar and battery. I jury rigged up my greenhouse trailers with the InkbirdSmart WiFi controller too, but you will need more Watts of heat than the solar system you have. I can hold a temp above freezing with a 750/1500watt electric space heater. Mine is a small ceramic element heater that’s just enough to kill the chill! Consider that you will need electric back up to the solar system for safety if your going to keep tropics in there! Just my two cents!
Thanks Bill! I left out the clip showing we have an electric outlet right behind it on the deck just in case we run into issues with the battery life just as you stated. I may go ahead and get the adapter and additional battery I mentioned to up our storage capacity, though. Maybe linking two or three batteries to 200 wats of panels will solve the problem. Will provide updates when we get to that point.

@@EssayonsFG Yup , been there done that! Heat is a funny thing when operated by electrical power! Your 200 Watts of solar are only that power under ideal circumstances what they actually produce is not effectively the same due to conversions and loss. Certainly you can do as you please, however you will find that it's a net loss and 110v ac is the way to go for heat! I hate saying trust me but I've done lots with small scale solar and it's a deadend! But lots of fun to play with!!!

Interesting setup. So, how do you provide heat during the winter inside the greenhouse? Is this solar kit powerful enough to run a 110 volt space heater of some sort with a thermostat that can turn it on and off? I’m looking at something for my greenhouse. Thanks!
Thank you. The solar heater is good for a few hours of run time but we have on grid power we can switch to for sustained cold days or overcast days. You can add more batteries for storage but any heat source will pull a lot of power. Depending on where you live will depend on if you can solely rely on solar. We had more sub freezing day time highs than usual this Winter so we found ourselves using grid power more than expected. We do have a thermostat to turn our heater on and off.
how long did the heater take to drain the battery
About 5-6 hours of really cold temps.
that sounds like a reasonable price for that setup,,, does it require a deep cycle battery or will a standard one work?
