School papers tip: My parents started a tradition with their grandkids to have a bonfire at the end of the school year and burn their papers from school. It helps my daughter let go of them so much easier because its a fun event.

I think it's fun to take a picture of the kid holding their drawing/ painting or craft. They often are proud, and like showing what they did. It's fun to catch that in the photo. In my opinion it's more fun to both see the kid and the artwork together, than the artwork only. You often can declutter the things they crated after a while, or if it breaks. Then it's fun to keep the photo of the proud and happy kid. 😊

We boil a full kettle of water, even for 1 cup, and then the balance of the hot water goes in a thermo jug for the next person who wants a cup of tea or coffee. That way the kettle isn't being boiled too often.

Your "cluttered" house is already 100 times better than any goal I set for decluttering mine.
The most powerful lesson though, was seeing your wedding picture in the "letting go" pile. I have a lot to learn from you, and will make a point of going through every video you have on the subject.
I have stuff accumulated for decades.. Decluttering will take a lot of effort emotionally and physically, as well as time, but I KNOW it is what I need do to set myself FREE. Thank you for your work.

I tackled while I listened to you! I did major decluttering in 2015 and sold what was In a storage unit!!! Was able to get a new pare of glasses to see with!!! My clothes need a small over haul and most all is hanging or folded neatly in drawers. I am getting a cat in a few weeks after she gets cares at the animal shelter! More recently our dad died. My brother had to tell me a lot about our parents history. He took the paperwork and newspapers of events such as their wedding and engagement etc.

All of my children are grown with families of their own. I retired and sold my home and decluttered my entire hone. I bought a box for each of my children and put only the very special things and made each one a scrapbook. I gave them to them last Christmas. They were so thrilled! We went through their items and shared our memories. I think this was made it special because they just have a fancy box of memories instead of a bunch of boxes and paperwork

Ask your kids about the pieces you have in them, if they are not special now they definitely won't be special in the future. We grew up as a minimalist family of 8. Moving constantly. So for us we didn't have alot of space or opportunity to accumulate things. Which has been such a blessing in my life. When my mother moved back to her home country she gave me a small ziploc bag of childhood pics (20ish) and a stack of my report cards and multiple awards. That's all I had and now I only kept about 1/2 the pics and thats it. Im super happy I don't have to be burdened with so much stuff from the past. We have a large family and memories are always shared. So I don't feel any loss.

I think the biggest thing for me was today I threw away my childhood keepsakes binder. I was a hoarder as a child and had stacks and stacks of my artwork, school work, important to me papers, etc. I remember working my way through them in high school and creating two keepsake binders of the most important things. In college I worked it down to one. And now I pulled out four pictures and trashed the rest. I don’t feel the need to cart it around with me any longer!

You could put dividers into the top drawer of the kids' dresser. I use boxes, cut down, to separate my dainties drawers. Yes, I have too many socks, bras, panties, panty hose of various kinds. But dividers helps me keep them separated.

Just a tip about your neighbor who walks around late at night and keeps your husband awake: a lot of that noise can probably be reduced if your neighbor puts down a carpet with a carpet pad. He might be a minimalist like you, with bare floors (which can be noisy). Try asking your neighbor about it and ask if he hears you downstairs, because noise goes in both directions. And it looks like you have laminate floors in the building, which can get very loud, especially if they're nailed directly onto the subfloor.
