I've just discovered not only his young early days in this band, but the early pieces of what has become what the commenter about mentioned: an emotional powerhouse. Reminds me that it's not only the raw talent, but a long journey of continuous improvement and tenacity leading him to where he is today. NO such thing as "overnight" sensation, kids. I cannot believe how much different this song has changed since this recording! WOW!!! He took this slow, sleepy song that seems like a love song and turned it into an emotional powerhouse that rocks feelings right into you like a sucker punch to the gut! Most importantly, it doesn't sound like a love song anymore, but maybe a breakup or death. I had to listen to them back to back and look at the lyrics to get the full breadth of change and i am in awe. Dermot, you rock buddy! Seriously.
