just wondering more about your concerns with a dog box. I have a four speed Front wheel drive trans in an american car. Same idea face tooth engagement with no synchros. The only real worry is that it's rough going in. as long as you're firm And don't pussyfoot, you're fine. It's always going in to the next gear. It's a bit rough for the street, if you're not looking for feel of a race car and the noise of straight gears etc. What do you believe the issues to be?
Hi, thanks for commenting. To answer your question. I've got a few friends that have used dog internals on the VW 02M setup and they have had numerous issues. It could be box specific, user error, etc but by keeping it synchro I've kept it a bit simpler.
I also wanted a 1.8 20v in my t4 at first but I made the swap a bit more difficult myself I made an audi TTRS engine in my t4 with the DQ500 and the whole driveline makes 550 hp and 750nm at 3500 it makes 600 nm is a lot of fun to drive
I looked at putting a DAZA/DQ500 in but realised I’d need to do a lot more modification to switch from what I have to get it how I’d like. Would be awesome to see some video & pics of yours 😎👍
@@jorddriessen1794 That would be great, I have an AIM SW4 steering wheel now so a DQ250 or 500 with a DAZ or 3.2 VR is high on the list but I've also been toying with the idea of a mid engine V8 S6 4.0 setup and haven't decided which way to go yet. Drop me some pics on FB/Insta if you like. Would be good to see how it goes, have you fitted an LSD into the DQ500?

Our first kits are going out in the next couple of weeks for trial fitting runs with a couple of VW specialists here in the UK. Please see the fitting video from two years ago for an idea of how it all fits together 😎👍
You shouldn't put thet motul gear 300 in it, same mistake i did and to be honest the oil itself its good but you cannot do any quick shiftings untill you warm it up well, ill just go to genuine vw G 052 171 A2 wich is specially for this 02M gearbox, mine is a quattro but it doesn't matter.
Thats not the same experience I’ve had, the Gear 300 was recommended due to its thinner and less viscous cold temp which helps with cold shifting. That aside, I generally let the box oil come up to temp, at least 60° before sending it
0A5 doesn’t tuck under the bulkhead and allow the drive flanges to sit inside the front subframe gaps for the NS inner CV. 02M also keeps costs down on shafts. T5 is a much easier van to swap engines into, lots more space and wider front subframe clearance

Yes mate, that was his first trip out in the T4 with the stroker, he loved it! I had to wait for his age & weight for the booster seat!

PD130 with a remap is the best bang for buck standard parts swap, 160bhp with plenty of torque 👏😎

That's good he can do a uprated t4 gearbox keeps things more simple

Its just the entry level Sachs sintered 240mm paddle setup. Super cheap, works amazing, can’t fault it.

What engine is in your t4? And is the 02m the factory transmission or a swap

why not a 0a5 gearbox?? no adapter plate, stronger gearbox from stock. 02q flywheel and rs3 clutch and it fits
