I'm glad the movie showed the ending of Hayes and Solene seeing each other after 5 years apart. It needed it.

I prefer the ending of the movie, because after all the heartbreak from her ex's infidelity and eventual divorce, Solene found love and happiness again with Hayes. They're a beautiful couple together and belong together, they did not deserve all the unnecessary backlash from the public. It was clear that they were both miserable without each other. After all the heartbreak and hardships Solene and Hayes both went through in their lives, they deserve to be happy together, and deserve their happy ending.

I felt everything, definitely one of my top 5 favorites romance movies. Everyone wants a love like this, the one where it’s an instant connection and spark but society likes to group us. Love happens unexpectedly and this show that the age gap doesn’t instantly makes it wrong. Five stars 😊

Honestly did not expect to love this movie this much! The romance and chemistry felt so real and made me feel all warm inside AND don’t get me started on the musiccc! I have the playlist on repeat ever since I watched this movie. I first heard Nicholas Galitzine sing when I watched the Cinderella movie with Camila Cabello and I’ve been in love since. This is a must watch for all the romantics out there!

Having read the book two years ago, I was not quite sure what to expect of this film that was presented in the trailer as sexy, romantic and a feminist film about a strong female lead character who seizes her happiness. As a lot of the audiences seem to feel, I thought this film started to tell this fabulous story - but needed to cramp a lot of backstory into too few minutes. Loved the acting - Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galatzine have oodles of “chemistry” as they are just that good at improv and bringing a shaky plot to life. I think another half an hour could have given the director enough time to do justice to this storyline and add a bit more synchronicity - tightening the loose knit characters and subplots. What I LOVE about the movie The Idea of You, which is different from the book is the amazing happy ending! These two needed to have one - and the book was devastating just because Solene chose to break off their relationship in the end. This one was beautifully tempered. Loved the beautiful decor and sets and the effort that went into building the ambience in each scene.

This is not a rom com. It’s a very lighthearted romance movie not a comedy. In Anne Hathaway’s deft hands this movie works beautifully despite what would be a flimsy premise. After watching every project Nicholas Galatzine has done, he could have chemistry with a lamppost, and he brings a great nuance to the character. It’s well written, well acted and very sweet without being sappy. I really enjoyed it.

I Fell sooo in love with this movie. Is my New all time Fave/Love/Romantic Movie of 2024. The connection that both actors have for each other is UNREAL!!!! As a single Mother of teens in mid 30s I cried while watching this because IT IS SOOO BRUTAL now days to find true love out here in the real world. Although it is a movie, It’s nice to finally see a movie about a single mother trying to date somebody younger than her. I haven’t seen a romance movie like this since A walk to remember and what I love is that no nudity was in place everything was kept modest and their romance was innocent and pure. Love love love 💕

The ending in the book just got me, didn’t expect that. I wish it did not end like that

This was just the perfect anecdote to everything. Just watch this if you are feeling jaded, or done with all the horribleness of life. I already loved Anne Hathaway, I knew she was a great actress, but she can be a sexy actress as well, my God! This film wasn't near enough explicit for my tastes (Lol) but she did amazingly well "implying" all it allowed her to imply.
Chemistry was great. Just a really solid rom-com. Worth a watch 100%

👍 My girlfriend forced me to sit down and watch this rom-com with her (instead of what I had planned to watch, which was a 1980 cannibal religious cult movie on Tubi called "Eaten Alive" lol) BUT, HERE'S THE SURPRISE.. I REALLY LIKED IT.. The two stars Anne Hathaway and Nick Galitzine did a GREAT JOB playing basically Harry Styles & Olivia Wilde (although they have denied there is any similarities) The love story between a 40 year old mom and the pop music superstar of a famous boy band was played very realistically. All the "cougar jokes" and "paparazzi nightmares" included. What surprised me was the 💘 Chemistry between Anne & Nick. They really impressed me, which caught me off guard. Plus, Nick did his own singing (I didn't even know he could sing) That's two home-runs for Nick in one year! The twisted royal thriller "Mary & George" and now this rom-com. I predict he's gonna become a major A-list star soon. As for Anne, she's always been great. Anyway, loved this film, and it had my gf crying her eyes out by the end (I won't tell you whether it was tears of sadness or joy, but it was one of those) ☺

FIRST OF ALL, THE ACTORS DID AN AMAZING JOB i know we all are watching for Anne Hathaway BUT Nichola Galitzine surprised me so much. The CHEMISTRY WAS OFF THE CHARTS.
Second, yes it is a dumb premise but every rom-com is kinda like that and honestly this wasn't even a rom-com but a full fledged romance movie.
THIRD, I AM TIRED OF AGE GAP ROMANCE MOVIES WITH AN OLD DUDE AND YOUNGER WOMAN like I am so done, I am so happy to see the tables turn and y'know it is not just steamy and hot but they actually connect so well that it makes sense.
Fourth, later half of the movie is pretty realistic in terms of having a very dumb premise.
WE NEED ROMANCE MOVIES LIKE THIS, WE ALREADY DON'T GET GOOD ROM-COMS ANYMORE so this needs attention

This is a wonderful movie about love, an age difference and a 40-year-old woman living in a youth obsessed culture.
The acting is superb. The story holds your attention and makes you feel how hard it would be to have a relationship like this in a world that revolves around social media today.
The movie shows us the truth about how some people on social media can hide behind screen names and say absolutely anything they want to, no matter how despicable or unwarranted. I applaud the screenwriters and actors for telling us and showing us how this can damage people and their lives.
This movie stands out for its acting, writing, direction and production. It's a treasure.

I liked this movie! What I don’t understand is people going eww/yuck, yes she is older, big deal!, if he was 14 and she was 30 it would definitely not be right. He is an independent 24 year old who knows what he wants, when they split the daughter encouraged them to get back together. I have seen many many movies where the man is 20, 30 anywhere up to 60/70 years older yet I don’t see a lot of criticism?
