I see a lot of hate on here towards scooters. Most of it seems biased from non scooter owners. I say that if you really want something to hate, you should hate on ebikes. Much like cars, the actual range is usually over exaggerated. You better remember that if you go somewhere with one of these, you better remember to leave enough juice in the battery to get that heavy piece of crap back home. In contrast, my scooter will go 150 to 200 miles on a tank of gas. I also keep a spare emergency pint of gas in a bottle inside the seat. But usually I can find gas in almost any little town while I am traveling. Then in 5 minutes of my time refueling the bike, I'll have another 150 to 200 miles of range. I have yet run empty and even if I did, I could always pull that spare pint of fuel and get myself to the nearest petrol station. Or if I see another motorcycle on the road that has run out of fuel, I would let them use my spare fuel to get to a petrol station. Try that with an ebike, carry along an extra 30 pound battery for an additional 20 miles of range and that will only fit your bike, it's not going to happen.
It sucks that most of these do not make it to the US market, especially the larger displacement models which we need due to our high freeway speeds and spread out urban environments. I just don't get that they offer 50 cc scoots in the US which are virtually worthless and even dangerous on our roads.
Hey there! I totally agree with you that it's frustrating that most of these adventure scooters and off-road models don't make it to the US market. It's especially disappointing considering the need for larger displacement models that can handle high freeway speeds and spread out urban environments. I also find it strange that they offer 50 cc scoots in the US, which aren't very practical or safe on our roads. By the way, I recently came across a new project called the freebeat Morph 2-in-1 eBike, which seems to address some of these issues. It's a revolutionary eBike that can be charged indoors. Quite an interesting concept!
Tricky question about "exciting"! I wish Honda offered the Trail 125 around here too, I 'd buy it, after 12 years on my current Innova I 'd expect toget another boringly reliable ride with great fuel economy. I 'd also love to get familiar with the rugged bike, it just looks like a thought through construction. Offroading on the electric 2 WD seems tempting
Genuinely speaking, ADV 150 is not enough adventurous. Many refer this ADV as ADVance, not ADVenture. I owned it for one and half year. Sharing the same engine with PCX 150 & Honda Click/Vario 150, it's not that much great engine, just a much better at torque. The default tire only 75% road track & 25% ground track. The suspension is much great for not a smooth road, since it has high ground clearance. The handling is superb for a big bod scooter.
Anything with remote key is automatic no. Bigger engines (300cc+) are way to expensive. For other than North America, all those engines up to 200cc are fine.
Nice line-up of scoots, but Honda is sadly holding back the XADV from the US market. At least give US the 350, as the low displacement models (under 250cc) result in flat sales. Yamaha could rapidly develop and release a potent big ADV scooter based on the TMax560 and close the door on Honda.
I really wish we could at least get the 350. But I'd love an XADV. As you said, small displacement doesn't work in the states because we have so many freeways and highways and need to at least be capable of minimum highway speeds. The 350 should do that. I recall the Burgman 650 selling well when it came out.
@@effervescentrelief Burgman 650 is a legendary scoot and may there be more like them! I once had a TMax530 and enjoyed the $^!+ out of it. The smiles-per-mile or mpg/fun-factor are impressive for that scoot.
The problem.whith scooters is that they have too many plastic which is expensive And you need most of your work time to remove them and putting them back
It's because they're based on the original Vespa, which was created from scrap alloy sheeting from aircraft. The Italian company made use of that material, building a body like a car body made of panels rather than a solid frame, and used the landing gear wheels and tires, which are quite small as they need to be light on the aircraft. Thus was born an alloy-bodied small-wheeled machine for cheap transport while recovering from WW2. The design was never intended for anything off-road or long distance. The idea of an ADV scooter is just retarded.
it's hard to justify these prices when you have some really great motorcycles like the Versys-X, the Svartpilen 401, and Royal Enfield Himalayan for roughly the same price
