I always preferred to see Kerry win rather than Dublin for some reason but I was a great fan of Mick Holden. He was a great sportsman and a true gentleman. It is such a pity he left us all too soon.
The old hill was nothing short of a death trap. The GAA could have easily had their own hillsborough in 1983 after the Dublin Galway final. A stroke of luck that nobody got killed that day with wreckless admission & overcrowding. And I'm sure there were other days like this also. Wasn't demolished a moment too soon
@@shepsmaster yeah I was there, way too many on the hill, I had been at most of the big games since 74, but that day was by far the worst on the hill, my Da told me about the 55 final v Kerry and he said that was worse than 83
Quite a poor final, Dublin didn’t look focused at all, so many basic errors, probably the sight of the Kerry jersey in them days had them beat before the throw in
I have never seen Dublin as bad in a final, never got going at all in that match, only seven scores from Dublin, Kerry didnt have to do too much to win that game, in fact Dublin gave away at least 5 points from direct mistakes from Dublin players
Ye Dublin pretty poor overall, back in the day the advantage rule didnt seem to get given often enough,so good decision on Barney Rock's goal(turned villain the 'injury' i know later ,lol),Tommy Conroy played decent enough ,one a few Dubs' that did so(lovely angled pass for Rocks goal),John Kearns had a go too..the boys in blue much better in 85'without having maybe the experience to get over the line
