I owned both Vrod Muscle (stage 3) and Diavel Titanium at the same time. There’s very little comparison between the two in performance and feel. I liked my vrod, the slammed look, the experience overall, but the Ducati with its light weight and racelike engine was on another level. Like comparing a Ferrari to a Mustang GT.
I have to admit that with all the motorcycles I have owned over the years to be honest I never thought about adjusting the various suspension components. Good on ya Dave!!
Guy with the diavel ex seems like an inexperienced rider trying to sound experienced. ...then bringing up the forums... Jesus... my hat is off to Dave. Even if you don’t understand what he’s saying, it’s easy enough to understand he knows what he’s doing.
I don't think anyone was nit picking. If you're getting your suspension sorted by an expert, you'd be crazy not to take the opportunity to get it absolutely perfect. However, not returning to acknowledge the excellent work done; that's completely out of order.
Thank you! I rode for 20 years and simply used old car engine oil in forks in the 80's and added preload for a passenger. I was one of those riders once but once I wanted to try racing after my rugby career ended, a year of watching and listening in the paddock taught me a lot. Amazing what you can learn if you simply get a different perspective and that willingness in 1994 brought me to my present journey - saving lives through education. Yes, millions still simply ride. I hope to reach more riders and inspire them to pick up some tools and get started.
Made me cringe a bit watching him rush with that spanner, slipping on everything on a 20k bike, also was the that rear shock locked back up again? Thanks for showing these vids though fella, getting the xdiavel this weekend and that will help
When I bought my bike, the suspension jolted my 148-pound frame so bad I adjusted everything to the softest setting. Still a little stiff, but rideable. Let all the air out of the air-assist forks also. Just the oil.
On a motorcycle with no damping adjustment, you get to adjust only the hight of the coils. So , 1 to 4 is only to get higher stand, that's all . There is no adjustment on the stifness of the coils oer the dampning.
Hello. I have a 2016 xdiavel s. I see that the drive toothed belt has been moving towards the edge of the rear wheel sprocket. Could you tell me if it is a lack of belt tension? and how to make that adjustment? The bike only has 9,000 km of travel. I checked the strap and I see it in perfect condition. It is not damaged or has cracks. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you.
If the belt is working towards the edge of the pulley, it is trying to run straight and find the correct place. Check the front pulley location and see where the belt is located on that pulley. As for adjustment, the forums have excellent step by step instructions.
I can say on my 05 vrod I had to crank the pretension on my rear suspension all the way up as that thing would bottom out on almost every bump going through the turns in Northern California
Im still trying to figure out how to adjust my Ducati 848 because the previous owner put a lowering link/adjustable dog bone in it so you cannot adjust the spring without adjusting the link with it. Too many variables when you have ocd.
Two options here: one is the Ohlins spanner and the other is an adjustable that I use that works for shocks and steering head bearings. www.amazon.com/shop/davemosstuning?isVisitor=true&ref=exp_inf_own_pub_davemosstuning
Hey Dave, I just had my suspension tuned on my 06 Cbr600rr, and ive been messing around with tire pressures (moderately aggressive street riding) and im at 33 front, 32 rear, and I can really only get both tires about 120-126 degrees. What is your preferred street tire temp? dunlop q3's. Thanks!
For the street, I will run a range of pressures from 40 rear 38 front and then go down equally in 2psi increments to see how the bike handles and what temps I get. I end up with different pressures than expected sometimes and my preferred Q3 pressure on the road is 34 front and 36 rear.
Thank you Joe. We will keep helping as many riders as possible that want to learn and improve the handing and performance of their motorcycle. Thanks for watching.
Too much rider sag = the spring is too soft A soft spring increases rider sag A stiff spring reduces rider sag I agree that a stiffer spring reduces rider sag, this makes sense, that's how air shocks work. If you hook a trailer to your truck and your rear end sags too much you can increase the air pressure making the shock stiffer which reduces the sagging. But how does a STIFFER spring increase static sag? That makes zero sense, if so a strut will increase static sag
Nobody else notice that when he adjusted the left side and went the wrong way he went back 4 clicks. 1 to remedy the error and then softer by 3 clicks but he only went down 2 clicks on the right side!!
Hey Dave great stuff. Just found you in the youtube planet and instantly became a new sub. Was woundering what something like this cost. I have never had the suspension dialed in for me and looks like I have been missing out on this simple yet effective procedure. Picking up another new bike Friday 636r. Thanks and loving all the great tips in your videos.

Yes. there is one Cycle Gear in New Jersey. 65 RT17 Hasbrouck Heights NJ about hour from me I am not sure about how many people I could personal bring. I ride with a pack of 4 or 5 guys on a regular. Is this a location that you visit at anytime?.
assassin stunter: You need more information in your question what type of bike cruiser sport bike crotch rocket? Several videos explain lean angles On different bikes tire sliding can be to Rider error, tire condition, tire type, air pressure, suspension issues etc.
Relax and let the bike straighten itself out (if you haven't slid too far that it will not be possible). Max lean angle is usually pegs scraping warning you that you have about 5-10 degrees left. Did that take away all your static sag? Does that mean you need stiffer springs?
Dave Moss Tuning probably need stiffer springs and Hd heavy duty oil up front
What's a pretty sharp V-Rod

Start by assessing fork and shock travel and check shock static sag. The use the videos to set rebound and compression.
Finally, someone who KNOWS how to set bike suspension properly
