Keeping the Sabbath was the seal of the old covenant, which was a covenant God made with Israel, not with the gentiles. Gentiles were not expected to keep that law. As is explained in the Bible, if you try to keep the law, you have to keep ALL of it. And if you break one part of the law, you are guilty of breaking ALL of it. Christians are under the new covenant of salvation by grace through faith, thank God. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

+Firstname LastName what is sin? 1 john 3. 4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 5And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. 6Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
if there is no law there is no sin and then no need for grace?
      3 questions

2 when did God remove this blessing from the 7th day?

Good question, Alex. Believers in Christ are in the new covenant (Hebrews 7:22). Later when Christ returns He will bring in the house of Israel and the house of Judah who are under temporary hardening until the fullness of the gentiles come in (Romans 11:25). Jeremiah 31:31 says "Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah." But Paul talks in Romans 11 about gentiles being grafted in like a wild branch is grafted onto a fig tree. Right now is the time of the gentiles. By God's grace, through faith in Christ, the elect gentiles are being grafted into the new covenant until Christ returns. Then He will gather Israel and Judah as they will look upon Him whom they pierced and weep like one who grieves for a firstborn son (Zechariah 12:10). They will at that time recognize Him as Messiah and they too will be under the new covenant. He will setup His throne in Jerusalem and all nations will flow to Him. Then the secondary prophecies concerning Messiah will be manifested, like peace on Earth, the land promise, all the things Jews are expecting from Messiah. So anyone who believes in Christ is in the new covenant but they don't all believe yet. For more info check out GotQuestions.org under the question "What is the New Covenant?"

Hi, Brian. #1 God blessed the seventh day and made it holy (separate from the others). I don't argue that any other day is/was the Sabbath. The argument is that the Sabbath was given to Jews as a sign of the old covenant and there were no gentiles included in that covenant (Exodus 31:13). So, yes, Saturday is the Jewish Sabbath. No argument there. My problem is when you try to tell me that I, a gentile believer in Christ, must live under Jewish law when the New Testament clearly says I don't have to (Acts 15, Romans 6:19, Galatians 5:18). #2 The blessing was not removed from the seventh day or from the law in general. None of the blessings or the curses were removed or changed in the Jewish law but Jesus Christ did fulfill the law (Matthew 5:17). Jesus also says He is Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8) and that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath (Mark 2:27). Christians rest in Christ as our Sabbath (Hebrews 4). The Mosaic law was for Jews who lived under the old covenant which I'm not bound to. If you want to rest on Saturdays go for it. That is your right and you have the freedom to do that. But do not try and tell me that I have to do it. This clearly falls into the category of Christian liberty. Paul talks about this in Colossians chapter 2 where he is very clear about the issue and even says in verse 16 not to let anyone judge us in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day. It's a matter of personal conscience. He also talks about matters of personal Christian liberty in Romans chapter 14. #3. Sunday is the day Christians meet because it was the day Christ rose from the dead. Early Christians met on Sunday and called it "The Lord's day" (Acts 20:7, Revelation 1:10). No one in the Bible says Sunday is the new Christian version of the Sabbath and I don't say it either. It's just the day we go to church. Again, if you want to abstain from work on Saturday go for it. If you want to have meetings on Saturday, I see no problem. Meet every day and worship Christ, or as many days as you can. Just don't try and impose it on other people because we are free in Christ. I know the 7th day Adventists teach that Sunday worship is the mark of the beast but I reject that teaching. I am confident in Christ that I am saved by grace through faith and not of my works, no matter which day I choose to meet with other Christians.

Have you ever desired something someone else possessed, i.e., the type of home, their job or station in life, a vehicle, anything at all? That would be coveting. Have you ever told a lie, no matter how insignificant you might think it to be? How about being angry at someone with no real cause? Jesus says that is murder in your heart. Ever use God's name as a curse word? That's using God's name in vain, blasphemy. So, you keep Sabbath? In it thou shall do no wotk: do you cease all work according to the law? Sabbath is REST, and Jesus is our REST. Worship the LORD every day and REST in Jesus every day. Otherswise you're in a works based religion where you are claiming righteousness for your works, but God views your righteousness as like filthy menstrual rags. Peace and blessings.

There is no "christian" group that hasn't tossed some of the old system out. What differentiates the groups is what they throw out and what they keep. But, the reality is ALL throw out something. So, for any one group to point at another and tell them THEY are wrong in what they fail to do is pure hypocrisy. At least that's how Christ characterized it.

This crap was done by a pope, an anti-Christ.
Where does it tells us God will create the New Earth and Heavens in 6 days, exactly as He created this universe?
    Yet, I rest in Jesus.
My obedience or lack there of to the Ten Commandments or even the law written on my heart is not what makes me a child of God, a member of the Kingdom.

oh member of kingdoms aye, well guess what this is addressed ... ‘No, we want a king to rule over us’-even though the Lord your God was your king. 13 Now here is the king you have chosen, the one you asked for; see, the Lord has set a king over you. 14 If you fear the Lord and serve and obey him and do not rebel against his commands, and if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the Lord your God-good! 15 But if you do not obey the Lord, and if you rebel against his commands, his hand will be against you, as it was against your ancestors.
16 “Now then, stand still and see this great thing the Lord is about to do before your eyes! 17 Is it not wheat harvest now? I will call on the Lord to send thunder and rain. And you will realize what an evil thing you did in the eyes of the Lord when you asked for a king.”
18 Then Samuel called on the Lord, and that same day the Lord sent thunder and rain. So all the people stood in awe of the Lord and of Samuel.
19 The people all said to Samuel, “Pray to the Lord your God for your servants so that we will not die, for we have added to all our other sins the evil of asking for a king.”
20 “Do not be afraid,” Samuel replied. “You have done all this evil; yet do not turn away from the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. 21 Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless. 22 For the sake of his great name the Lord will not reject his people, because the Lord was pleased to make you his own. 23 As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right. 24 But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. 25 Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will perish.”

The commandments were our tutor (Gal 3:24-25) until Christ came. Now we are no longer under that tutor. When you are born again, the Holy Spirit changes your heart and helps us to do good. But keeping the 10 commandments are no longer our law and cannot save us. Keeping the Sabbath was a way to remember that the Israelites rest is in the Lord. Now we have Jesus, who told us to remember his body that was broken and his blood spilled for us in communion. Jesus is our rest. Never in the NT does Jesus tell us to keep the Sabbath. He does repeat the other 9 commandments, as well as a boatload of other instructions on how to love God and others. (Do not pray loudly using empty phrases, do not be anxious, do not look at a woman with lust, etc.)

    • @stevek7150

Jc Thomas the word commandments may refer to the book of the law written by Moses and was placed next to the ark as a witness against us. It contained the blessings and the curses and the sanctuary regulation. The Ten Commandments were written in stone by god himself and place inside the ark.
Galatians may be simply a reference to the fact that the book of the law which contained the ordinances relating to the sanctuary was leading us to Christ. Christ is the lamb slain, he is also our high priest, he was represented by those things written in the book. And when Christ came to earth the first time he fulfilled those things that the sanctuary laws pointed to. But the Ten Commandments were never intended to pass away. Revelation says three times in contrast to those who receive the mark of the beast that “here are they that keep the commandments.” In fact one Daniel his vision is that the antichrist/ little horn thinks to change gods times and laws. They never actually changed tho.

When this video was uploaded I was a seventh-day Adventist and I strongly disagreed with what Dr. Brown was saying so maybe I can give some insight into why Adventists believe we must still keep the Sabbath. Long post ahead so be warned. The issue is that Adventist teaching tries to separate out the 10 commandments as "God's moral law" from the "statutes and ordinances" which they call "Moses' ceremonial law". The problem is that this distinction is simply not Biblical: Many times in the OT "God's law" is used to describe things like feast days, while the ten commandments are described as the law of Moses. The Bible is quite clear, it's ALL the law of God.
Adventists place heavy emphasis on the stone tablets being placed inside the ark while book of the law being placed OUTSIDE in the OT, claiming that this is just the statutes and ordinances written by Moses and that is what was nailed to the cross with Christ, often making a claim like "you can't nail stone to the cross" and that "whatever God writes with His finger is eternal"... totally ignoring that the tablets written personally by God were smashed by Moses! They completely miss the fact that it was the Torah, the entire 5 first books laid besides the ark which also contains the ten commandments! They also miss the fact that that since the 10 commandments are contained in the Torah, this means the 10 commandments as written on the stone tablets have passed away.
Adventists equate the stone tablets as the ultimate expression of God's law, so they think that if they want to please God in Christ they need to look BACK to the stone tablets. Sadly they totally miss that the stone tablets are supposed to point FORWARD to Christ. In an Adventist's mind the stone tablets = ULTIMATE ETERNAL LAW OF GOD, they do not understand that the stone tablets are a shadow just like everything else, because they've tried to separate them out from the rest of the Torah.
Of course, this is all reinforced by their false prophet Ellen White teaching them that on the day of judgement, Sabbath observance will be the ultimate deciding factor for whether a Christian can enter the New Kingdom. I know this is a very long message but my prayer is that someone in the SDA church who is struggling will read this and be released from bondage.

I am sorry you had issues with the SDA. I see some SDA issues that have kept me out... on the other hand:
How are the Ten Commandments "NOT eternal" ???? I say they are eternal and to always be obeyed. Sorry, this is way too obvious. As far as us transgressing and needing GRACE. I agree and I probably agree on the SDA in what you said, the SDA certainly has some issues... So far, in my studies, they seem to be far far better and LESS corrupt and wrong than the Romans.... Also, when did the SDA run around trying to genocide whole people groups who opposed their WRONG theology??? Or using witchcraft tortures to make people submit and convert.... This has ALL been used by the Romans since they claimed to become the "church" ....

SDAs insist that we must keep the Sabbath as a day of worship. This is wrong because:
      a) The New Testament never commands Christians to worship or meet on the Saturday Sabbath. Instead, Christians are recorded as meeting on the first day of the week, Sunday, in the following Bible passages:
      1. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 -- to put money in the collection.
      2. Acts 20:7 -- Paul preached to Christians at Troas whose habit was to meet to break bread on the first day of the week.
      3. John 20:19, 26 -- Jesus, after His resurrection met with the disciples on the first day of the week.
      4. Romans 14:5-6 -- Paul, when discussing which day to meet, did not say that you must meet on the Saturday Sabbath, (as SDAs say), but he said "Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind."
      5. Colossians 2:16-17 -- "Let no man judge you in ... holy days or Sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come."
SDAs judge Christians wrong who keep Sunday as a holyday. Paul says that SDAs are wrong to judge Christians for not keeping Saturday as a holy day.
      b) SDAs claim that the Roman Catholic church after Constantine in 320 AD changed the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday. This is completely false, because we have at least ten quotes from major church writers from 90 -- 300 AD who all say that the practice of Christians everywhere was to meet on Sunday, not the Jewish Saturday Sabbath. SDAs have no early quotes to show that early Christians met on Saturday.

I wish the speaker would have pointed out Hebrew 4 that explains the reality(not the 7th day shadow) of the Sabbath. Verse 1 says, "Therefore, since the promise of entering His Rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it." He doesn't say it's only one day of the week but every day. He doesn't call it Saturday, but 'TODAY' Hebrew 4:7 "Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today"..... And everyday through all eternity. It's a rest from our own plan to living God's plan forever and ever. Read the chapter 1-13. It explains it better than I can. It's an eye opener. The rest from our plans we'll have in heaven as well is every day. Praise the Lord. His plans are not our plans. Our ways are not His ways. 💕

Saved By_Grace Jesus said sabbath was made for man and not man made for the sabbath. So from that I’d say sabbath is for mankind. He didn’t say it was for the Jews. The sabbath predates the Jews since on the seventh day after creation he rested. Like an artist signing his finished work in this case with the seal of god the sabbath.

    • @stevek7150
      @stevek7150 4 года назад

Jose Riquelme what’s the 613 mitzvot? How does it makes sense that god would have laws for man that are impossible to keep? How is it possible that the laws of god go against the law of Christ? So, since the Jews added laws on top of laws and added laws on top of the sabbath commandment and the other commandments that means that if you don’t follow all these added laws then it’s hypocritical? I’m confused. There’s 10 commandments, brief, authoritative, and comprehensive. Adding to the laws is just as bad as taking away from them. Why can’t we just let the Bible speak for itself on what the laws are without meddling with them? Jesus kept the sabbath himself, it says it was his custom to go to synagogue on the sabbath. He said it was lawful to do good on the sabbath day as opposed to the teachers of the law who made it into a burden impossible to keep. Jesus was interested in gods commandments and disregarded mans additions. A good example to follow.

    • @stevek7150
      @stevek7150 4 года назад

Jose Riquelme slavery to the law is talking about the law of sin and death. It’s not slavery to keep the 10 commandments, they’re called the law of liberty.

    • @stevek7150
      @stevek7150 4 года назад

Jose Riquelme this is very true but needs to be taken in context. Next verse in col 2:17 makes it clear that these sabbath days are those that are a shadow of things to come. There is the law of Ten Commandments written on stone and placed inside the ark but there is also the book of the law that is written by hand and contains the blessings and curses and was placed beside the ark. The book of the law contained all the ordinances and laws which are a shadow. Moses was shown a pattern of the sanctuary in heaven and this pattern or shadow was to point toward the sacrifice of Jesus who then became our high priest in heaven, he became our sacrifice and pleads his blood in the real and true tabernacle not built by human hands but in the actual heavenly sanctuary. Clearly in Matthew 11:29 the sabbath was made for man, not only the Jew. The sabbath is instituted in the garden of eden before sin just like the institution of marriage it is one of the institutions that we kept from paradise. Sabbath days associated with the feasts and new moons are in context dealing with the book of the law and it was nailed to the cross and is passed away because Christ is the high priest. That’s why we no longer keep the sanctuary laws and feasts and sacrifices. Check out the context of these verses and see for yourself if it’s dealing with the book of the law or the Ten Commandments.

Seventh-Day Adventists judge Christians very harshly for not keeping "Sundown Friday to Sundown Saturday." Christians, on the other hand, don't condemn others for worshiping on Saturday if that is their preference. Christians recognize that we are under grace, and not under the Law. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Colossians,
"Therefore let no one act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or A SABBATH DAY--things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ." (Col. 2:16,17).
No one calling himself a Christian should judge another respecting the Sabbath, and yet the SDA church would have Christians receive the "mark of the beast" for not keeping the Saturday sabbath. They have therefore made salvation dependent on which day of the week one keeps.
Hebrews, chapter four, shows that the fulfillment of the Jewish Sabbath was not the keeping of the same day by Christians, but the entering of Christians into God's rest. The early Christians preached on the Jewish Sabbath because the Jews were gathered in the synagogue on that day. (See Acts 17:2-4). Their fellowship together was always the "first day" of the week, Sunday, the day of Christ's resurrection. (See Acts 20:7)

Real followers will WANT and AIM to keep as much of the laws as they can, but if they’re unrealistic for their means, (like sacrificing a heffer or a lamb) then He will understand. People who study, and learn the truths will follow those truths, ie if someone follows Sunday sabbbath then learns it’s wrong, they should switch to Saturday. If a follower can follow the feasts, the new moons, the sabbaths... then they should, but they don’t have to. Salvation by faith and faith alone. But, there’s a difference between being just saved and just inside the gates of heaven and having more glory in Heaven, such as more crowns, a place deeper within the gates, a spot closer to Him etc. This is all standard theology and it’s very clear if one just reads the texts, lol. It’s not complicated.

Exodus 16 is the first time the sabbath came into existence. Look at the language of the chapter, they didn't even know later what to do with a willful breaker of the Sabbath.
"Remember" in the language doesn't mean in this context to remember some past even. The word means essentially "Listen up and hear" etc.

And because of they look for signs they will not realize how things are changing. We are not called to be watchers of signs but to be the salt and the light. Sorry I knew SDA always talked of 1844 but I was thinking from memory that the Millers originally thought it was 1833. I should of verified as you said. I haven't been an Adventist for 35 years and was only one for about 5 years.
I stand by the other things I said about their theology and mindset. And yes I know that though the General Conference tends to keep close tabs on local churches that its influence is not as strong as it once was. Also that though the older White theology with its Investigated Judgment leaves SDAs in doubt of their salvation and so makes them think that "their works of Christ working in them justifies their salvation"; this being not unique to SDAs, the part I quoted not the investigated judgment. Not all SDAs know about this theology and its implications and many believe in justification as the Reformers such as Luther did. I also know that the church has quite a struggle on this issue as even many others do.
Again yes I admit 1843-4 date was the focal point for the GD even for the Miller movement and not just the White movement.

Yup, its happening, be watchful of this climate change movement, it will be the tool to enforce the Mark. I'm not an Adventist but I've recently come to understand through prayer and research that Sunday will be the day of worshiping the beast when it is a global enforced law. Pope Francis book Laudato Si' speaks of bringing Science and spirituality together for the 'global common good' of the Earth. This was 2015 he released this. Believe it is not a coincidence theres a flurry of protests around the world on climate change. Here in London we've had none stop protests by extinction rebellion and the parliament has called for a national emergency on climate change. This agenda is pushed by the Vatican. Read and pray to God for discernment He truly will open your eyes to everything that is happening, we are truly living in the end days, and we need God more than ever to guide us to the right direction and not be led astray by the great deception that is seeping in our churches, be vigilant.

Even tho the anti Christ can appear as an angel of light he will demand you take his mark and worship his image in order to buy and sell, as it's written in Revelation. It's not one or the other that can keep you safe they are in combination. Can't take the mark without worshiping it, and why worship if you can't buy or sell. Makes no sense. They work together to steal and condemn a person's soul. Otherwise those that refuse the mark/image for the sake of Jesus Christ will be killed, if you do not have a seal from God on your head. The Roman Catholic Church:Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church ever did, happened in the first century. The holy day, the Sabbath, was changed from Saturday to Sunday. "The Day of the Lord" (dies Dominica) was chosen, not from any directions noted in the Scriptures, but from the Church's sense of its own power. The day of resurrection, the day of Pentecost, fifty days later, came on the first day of the week. So this would be the new Sabbath. People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole authority, should logically become 7th Day Adventists, and keep Saturday holy.
-Sentinel, Pastor's page, Saint Catherine Catholic Church, Algonac, Michigan, May 21, 1995
      Q. Have you any other way of proving that the Church has power to institute festivals of precept?
      A. Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her; -she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday the Seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority.
-Rev. Stephen Keenan, A Doctrinal Catechism; New York in 1857, page 174
Let's take a look at an excerpt from the "Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine"
QUESTION: What day is the Sabbath day? ANSWER: Saturday is the Sabbath day.
QUESTION: Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday? ANSWER: We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.

GOD gave Ten Commandments not suggestions.
    1. The law is not done away with it is established. Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
    2. The law does not save. Its job is to define sin. Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
    3. Love leads us to follow the law. Paul lists directly six of the Ten Commandments.
Romans 13:8,9 Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Ephesians 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
    4. Of the other four all will admit that it is a sin to have other gods, bow down and worship idols and to take the name of GOD in vain. Protestant Ministers have stated the Ten Commandments are for Christians. dedication.www3.50megs.com/greatmen.html Great Preachers on the Ten Commandments.
    5. In the book of Hebrews the New Covenant states the laws are to be written into our hearts not done away with. The New Testament directly quotes from the Old Testament Jeremiah 31.
Hebrews 8:8 For finding fault with the saith Behold the days com saith the Lord which I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the hose of Judah. Verse 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days saith the Lord I will put my laws into their mind and write them in their hearts: and I will be to their GOD AND THEY SHALL BE TO ME A PEOPLE.

I listen to the arguments made By Dr. Brown and the seventh day adventist. Invariably Dr. Brown asked question that was a trap and the SDA fell for it. Dr. Brown asked an old covenant new covenant question, why do you not keep all the feasts? The problem with that question is the keeping of the Sabbath by Seventh-day Adventist is not done out of the old covenant It is done as a result of creation, out of the garden, out of Genesis. The calendar system was set up at creation. The festivals were added after The fall and sin entered the world. It is done as a reminder of who God is what he is like and what he wants for us. The garden of Eden is still the goal for humanity. Christ became the new Adam, Which means he is replacing the old Adam. Christ is restoring what Adam lost in the garden of Eden. That restoration will be complete in Christ rules and rains on the earth for 1000 years. The Sabbath was the sign of God's sovereignty in the garden, and the sign that he wanted to come down and spend time with us . It was a weekly appointment. It takes on additional meetings after the fall and in the old covenant, including a prophetic promise of him ruling and regining in Jerusalem, and the promise of sanctification for anybody who sees themselves as unholy, God will do the job to get you ready for heaven you just come and spend time with him.

@Boyd Daane Jesus fulfilled the law. Completed it. Made it obsolete - Hebrews 8:13. Now we have a new covenant. You might notice that Jesus repeated 9 of the 10 commandments in the NT. He never taught us to keep the Sabbath. It was a symbol for God's rest. We have now entered in to his rest (Hebrews 8:9-10) and do not need the Sabbath, although we are told not to neglect meeting with one another and remember the new covenant with communion.
If man was made for the Sabbath, we would need to keep keeping it. But it was made for man, which means it had a purpose, and now it's purpose is done. Heb 10:1 says the law was a shadow of things to come, not the reality. Now we have the reality, Jesus.

Keeping the Sabbath must be understood intently: 1. Sabbath does not necessarily mean rest; it means 'cease'. God didn't rest cos He was tired. It speaks of God's completion on our behalf; ultimately foreshadowing Christ finishing the work on our behalf; hence Christ did a lot of healing, miracles - WORKING on the Sabbath, illustrating the fact that it is God alone who can give us the true rest. 2. People who insist on the day should literally not go to church on that day and do nothing - you are not told to go to church on the day but to REST. Here Paul sums up my point - and He was a Hebrew of Hebrews: "Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ" (Colossians 2:16-17).
And we know that the early Church came together on Sunday.
The reality, Sabbath, true rest is Christ, why are you embracing a shadow?

  • @brianhyde5900
    @brianhyde5900 7 лет назад +28

    As another has said:
"The Bible states very clearly the "sufficiency" of Christ in regards to our justification and reconciliation to God the Father. The simple point is this. Speaking about the commandments, Sabbaths have the "appearance" of holiness but according to the very next verses (Colossians 2:16) "Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. these are "shadow" of the things that were to come; the reality however, is found in Christ." It will always come down to what are we really giving the glory in our discussions. Any time any thing in any conversation is exhalted above Christ. It's time to go back to the Scriptures and check our doctrine. That's myself included of course.
So I guess the point in me quoting that verse was to simply say there is no hope for any breathing being on this planet in regards to "keeping the law" (Ten Commandments). It is hopeless without Jesus Christ. Romans 3:20 "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works/deeds of the law; rather, through the law become conscious of our sin." The Scriptures teach that sin literally gets its strength from the law. 1st Corinthians 15:56 "The sting of death is sin, and the "power" of sin is the law." The Apostle Paul said if it weren't for the law I would not have known how to covet. But now that the law has come I find all types of covetousness in me. We should sprint full force away from the law and into the grace of God in Jesus Christ our Lord. The law is a mirror showing us our sinful state. But we can't wash ourselves with the mirror. We take the "knowledge" of what the mirror has given us and go to wash ourselves in the waters of Christ. As I'm sure you know that comes by our faith in his life, death, burial and resurrection. THE GOSPEL, The main thing, is to keep the main thing, the main thing....LOL. And that's Jesus. .."
To which I also must respond:
But keep in mind that the audience was first century Jews being delivered out of the old covenant law. Not you and I, today. The Jews (not Gentiles) were under the Law for the Law was given to them (alone) and through them the "public spectacle" was made. They (not Gentiles who were not placed under the Law (Romand 2) had a conscience of sin because the blood of animals that they were continually offering, could not make them that offered, perfect as pertaining to the conscience (Heb 9:9), for the very reasons you have stated.
Moreover, under command of Law, the soul was forever kept in bondage to a sin consciousness and death (law being both the source of sin's knowledge and strength of sin's death sting). Contrary things (sacrifice vs mercy) could never co-exist in peace.
There was no release; nothing could deliver from sin's guilt kept "alive" by law's testimony and condemnation. Only the spotless blood of Jesus, the "lamb of God", who bore the sins of the world in His soul, was able to remove sin's guilt. Only through His blood, could man be delivered rom the "body of death" (Rom 7:24). Only through His blood, could man be "purged" from a defiled conscience (cf. Heb 10:22 "evil conscience"). It is in the VERY state of KNOWING Christ had been made sin for him, and in the VERY state of KNOWING Christ had been made wisdom, justification, sanctification and glorification" (at every stage leading to the full measure of a man in Christ and thus always complete Christ) for him that man was set free. It was in the VERY POSSESSION of an UNDEFILED conscience, that man enabled to serve God in his spirit, for it was for freedom that Christ set man free, for where the Lord's Spirit is, there is freedom --, both from the dominion of sin and the law of sin. (Galatians 5:1: 2Corinthians 3:17; Romans 6:14; Galatians 2:19; Romans 7:6).
The condemnation of law and conscience / consciousness of sin, were taken away in Christ Jesus. God made Christ the end of the Law and made Christ the end of sin. "The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus set man free from the law of sin and death and gave man the righteousness of God, a righteousness which has nothing to do with law yet satisfies law. (Romans 8:1-4; 3:21).
Those who try to justify the existence of the old covenant Law, today, do not know what they are talking about (1Tim 1:7). They are attempting to bring man back under the consciousness of sin and sin dominion. They are attempting to bring man under a defiled conscience. They are attempting to restore that which is contrary to man. They are attempting to make man a slave to law. They are attempting to replace a work of grace, for a work of law. They are glorifiers of Law and nullifiers of Grace. They are the enemies of the Gospel of Grace.

Thank you, Frank. But I find your conclusions to be unbiblical.
There was no "Sabbath day" at Creation. The word "Sabbath" does not even enter the language of Creation. There is no evidence that Day 7 of Creation is the same day of the week which the Hebrew kep as a Sabbath, 2, 500 years after Creation. If anything what is written in Genesis is probably Moses writing with the hindsight of Sabbath observance.
With Hebrew hermeneutics the "law of first mention" dictates context as to when something has its beginning (comes in into existence and is recognised). It is always pre-fixed with an "a" First mention is Exodus 16 where the seventh day (the following day) is called "s Sabbath" And again following this Hebrew rule, once something has been introduced only then is prefixed "the", thus thereafter it is called "THE Sabbath"
There is no mention in scripture of Adam keeping a Sabbath. Besides, he did not need a Sabbath not even ceremonially, because when created he was in a sate of permanent rest in his spirit. And even if he did observe a Sabbath it does not mean that what he did not cease doing anything in the Garden for nothing he did was "not holy" for Adam was holy at that stage. Claiming a Sabbath from Creation is claiming a Sabbath from silence which is not a good heremeneutic in my view. I call it assumption.
There was no law in Eden. Adam and Eve had one instruction ro command.
There is no evidence in Genesis that the Sabbath was a Creation ordinance which man would follow by nature, as in natural law. Rather when the Sabbath was given it came by SPECIAL REVELATION. It was given by SPECIAL REVELATION because it was a weekly ceremony with 39 associated legal functions (it came with a whole list of instructions as to HOW it was to be carried out, ritualistically). It was given AS A SIGN (a sign is a symbol) to remind the children of Israel how God had delivered them OUT OF EGYPT. Indeed as Deuteronomy where it plainly states the reason it was given
      Deuteronomy 5
12 “Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest, as you do. 15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. THEREFORE (FOR THIS REASON) Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
The entire ethos of physical rest was of learning to rest in God's power so that one day they would enter into the spiritual rest provided by Christ's redemptive work. ALL the law was a schoolmaster, including ceremonies like the weekly Sabbath. This is why it is called a shadow. It is a ceremony because it forbid one day in seven, what it allowed six days in seven. The Sabbath was not about sin it was about Jewish remebrance.
The context of the Sabbath command makes it clear that it was for the Jews alone. The Sabbath was also a SIGN of Israel's separation from other nations.
      Exodus 31:13
Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily ye shall keep my sabbaths: for it is a SIGN BETWEEN ME AND YOU throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am Jehovah who sanctifieth you.
The last generation was between AD 30 and AD 70
This for a Christian to take a Jewish object lesson and carry out its ritual is as absurd as an adult going back to kindergarten to learn how to be an adult.
The argument from Paul is a facile one. He was an ethnic Jew and this required him to keep the Sabbath. My guess is the laws of the city of Jerusalem were tied in with the law of the Sabbath as is reflected by the gates being closed by the civil authorities on the Sabbath. The Jewish leaders were sticklers for watching for those who broke the Sabbath. And they would have punished any offender.
Which brings me to another matter. Sabbath keepers not only blatantly disregard the fact that with the Law it was keeping ALL 600 plus laws or nothing, (you could not pick and choose what you would follow and what you would not follow) but they blatantly disregard the fact that a law has a penal code that goes with it. A law without is penal code is of no effect; the whole force of law is its penal code otherwise its just as useless as a train timetable without trains. The same applies to all the laws, including the rest of the Ten. There were serious penalties involved in failing to keep the Sabbath.
Sabbath-keepers also disregard the fact that NOTHING could be done with regard to the Sabbath WITHOUT THE SABBATH OFFERINGS and thus WITHOUT the PRIESTHOOD and the TEMPLE.
Moreover, Paul was still under the old covenant law 1. until the first century believers reached the full measure of a man in Christ and were themselves "a kind of first fruits" 2 unitl the Law finally "disappeared" in AD 70 at the destruction of the Temple. The Law ceased to play any further role in the affairs of men the moment ancient Judah ceased to be God's people and the Temple was destroyed and the services ended. And that occurred one generation after the Cross just as Jesus predicted.
      .
The Gentiles were not Jews under Jewish laws and not under the Jewish Sabbath which is why there is, as would be expected, total silence in Paul's writings about anything to do with a keeping of a Sabbath keeping and silence about how it was to be kept by Christians. as far as Gentiles were concerned. Rather he shows how, as with all the Sabbath days, it was a shadow. Paul make that very clear, despite desperate attempts by Sabbath-keepers to twist and deconstruct the meaning of Colossians 2 to the contrary
. ALL the Law was a shadow of things to come. The Law was schoolmaster/tutor/guardian to bring the Jews to faith and to the substance which is Christ. In attempting to restore the Sabbath, Sabbath-keepers are rejecting the true context of the Sabbath and denying Christ as the Substance.
We are not Jews under law. We are Christians under grace. We are not under ANY law. Believers are not counted by God as Jews under old covenant law. They are counted by God as having been raised out of old covenant law into new covenant spirit of grace. Thus they have no standing before God on the basis of the old covenant man in Adam but a standing before God as the new covenant man in Christ (the second Adam). Thus they are dead to sin and dead to the law of sin that ministered to the flesh, and are alive to righteousness and alive to the law of the spirit of life that ministers to the spirit. (Rom 6:1-10; 7:1-6; 8:1-4; Gal 2:19)
There is no authority in scripture for a Christian for keeping the Jewish Sabbath. Indeed its not an act of obedience but disobedience to serve God in the old way of commandments. "...serving God NOT in the old way of the written code but in the new way of the spirit (Romans 7:6)

      Frank,
No, that is not the facts of the case.
There is no mention of the Sabbath until just before Sinai, 2500 years AFTER CREATION.
You are full of assumptions. Why don't you pay attention to what scripture actually says and not what you THINK it says.
God did not "ask" Israel to keep the Sabbath He COMMANDED Israel to keep the Sabbath day NOT HIS REST. YOU CANNOT COMMAND REST They were commanded to keep a DAY and to do so on PAIN OF DEATH. They were commanded to do so as a SIGN (a sign is a SYMBOL) a memorial of their deliverance from Egyptian slavery (Deut 5).
Why don't you pay attention to the context? You have no authority to hijack old testament texts apply them to yourself and try to impose them on others. This is a classic example of twisting scripture out of context. You are using eisogesis not exegesis.
God did NOT command Cristians to commemorate deliverance from Egyptian bondage for obvious reasons. .

Christians were not commanded to observe a physical day, limited by time to 24 hours a week and on pain of death; they were invited to enter into spiritual rest with Christ in God (where their life was already hid - Col 3:3) a rest unlimited by time and in complete freedom.

Dr Brown doesn’t understand the difference between God’s laws (Ten Commandments) and Moses’ laws (613 ordinances). God’s Sabbath is the seventh day weekly one and Moses’ Sabbaths are the annual ceremonial Sabbaths, ordinances, feasts and festivals. There are two kinds of Sabbaths. He is mixing them up.

A Sabbath-Rest for the People of God
1Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. 2For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.a 3Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,
“So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”b
And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world. 4For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.”c 5And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest.”
6Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, 7God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
    do not harden your hearts.”d
8For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works,e just as God did from his. 11Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
12For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
    Jesus the Great High Priest
14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,f Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet he did not sin. 16Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

As for the issue of the New Moon in Isaiah 66:23, "And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD."
The New Moon spoken of here has nothing to do with feast days. It refers to the 30-day monthly cycle in the Hebrew calendar. Why will we come before God every 30 days apart from the Sabbath? This is explained in Revelation 22:1,2 "And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit EVERY MONTH: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."
Even after sin is destroyed our immortality will be dependent on us eating of the tree of life, from which we will partake of every New Moon.

NOT Saturday like our current Gregorian Calendar. Mans calendars have changed over the ages but God's calendar remains the same.

@Messerah I do agree with you regarding marriage. I don't agree with you on the day you say is meant to be the rest day. See you go by the Gregorian calendar that did not exist in those days it come to existence in the times of Pope Gregory. In the biblical times they had the biblical calandar from creation the sun and the moon.
Numbers 28:11 and in the beginnings of the month ye shall offer a burnt offerings unto the Lord.....
Numbers 10:10 Also in the day of gladness and in your solemn days, and in beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with trumpets over your brunt offerings......
Isaiah 1:13-14 bring no more vain oblations, incensed an abomination unto me; the new moon and Sabbath, the callings of assemblies, I cannot awaywith; it is iniquity even the solemn meetings. Your new moons and your appointed feast my soul Gareth they are trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.
*in the biblical times the new moon was was very important. That was the begging of the month and how they would count there days.
In Mark 2:27-28 and he said unto them , The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath.
*The Pharisees were criticising Jesus for working on the Sabbath.
John 5:17 But Jesus answered them, My father workers hitherto and I work.
*Again the Pharisees were criticising Jesus for working on the Sabbath and in his defense Jesus said my father works everyday and so do I.
Romans 14:5 one man esteemed one day above another: another esteemed every day alike Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
Colossians 2: 16-17 let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink, or in respect of a holiday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
      * In the new testament after Jesus died for us we no longer have to do animal sacrifices or no longer worry about the holidays, new moon or Sabbath.
Isaiah 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, said the LORD.
      * Isaiah is talking about the future and how we will worship the LORD when he comes for us. From new moon to another (month to month) from Sabbath to Sabbath ( weekly)
God bless you and thank you for your message.

@Messerah actually the Jews have 2 calendars a civil calander (the Gregorian calendar ) and the festive calendars.
As most of the Jews do not believe and reject The Lord Christ they are not a good example to follow. If you were to obey the biblical Sabbath then you would need to worry also about the new moon. The Saturdays of the Gregorian calendar do not always coincide with the biblical Sabbaths and the years do not match. I'm not changing the times to me it's very clear what the Lord Jesus Christ wants me to do.

    • @alexandedvarla2495

@Messerah it's easy to proof do it for a year. The new moon starts from left to right. Google it and read about the history of the calendars. Then count seven days from when you see the moon. Most months it's on Saturdays then some months are on Sundays and others if I'm remember correctly are on Tuesdays or wed. So basically Sabbath should be on the 8th, 15th, 21st and 29th of every month.

Yahushua the Messiah kept the commandments and we are supposed to follow his example and walk as he walked. Nowhere in scripture is there a commandment to keep Sunday as the day of rest. Those who know what is right and do it not, that is sin. Sin is the transgression of the Torah. There is a growing number of people among the nations who strive to keep the Sabbath and the rest of the scriptural calendar, and everything that Yahweh has spoken. Here is the patience of the Saint, those who keep the commandments of Elohim and the faith of Yahushua. Sunday as the day of rest is nothing but a tradition of man that makes void the word of Yahweh!

I believe I can answer or at least partially answer, the question about celebrating the feast days, following the Jewish calendar and so on. First read Ephesians 2:15. In this verse it talks about doing away with the ordinances of the law. Some versions of the Bible will say man made rules, man made ordinances. Some will refer to these as ceremonial laws as well. However, it says nothing about doing away with the Ten Commandments. And realistically, you can't do away with one Commandment and still say you follow the Ten. You are then following the Nine Commandments. When asked which commandment was the most important, Christ said to follow the commandment of loving God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. To do this, you automatically follow the first four to love God and you automatically follow the last six to love your neighbor. The Bible also says, if you break one commandment, you break them all. So this effectively means each commandment is equally as important. This essentially reinforces Christ's answer about which commandment is more important. Sin is sin, man has been tricked into believing that one commandment or sin is more sinful than another. That can't be the case. Otherwise Christ would have committed "little sins" like white lies and He still would have been call sinless. Of course that is not true. Many in the SDA Church are very legalistic about the Fourth Commandment, to the point where they view the Fourth as the most important and the other nine as not as important. I believe they are all equal. I am an SDA and am active in my church. I do my best to observe Saturday Sabbath just like any other Christian observes not to lie, kill, steal, bow down to idols and so on. Also, I do not adhere to Cannon 29 of the Counsel of Laodicea where the early Catholic Church commands it's members in 334 AD to worship on Sunday and stop worshiping on Saturday. It is even on the Vatican web page where the church takes credit for moving the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. I can list several other points as well but I don't want to drag this out any longer. I do believe Sunday keepers will be in Heaven, but they will be pointed out on Judgement along with those saved that have told a lie, stolen from someone, had and affair, and bow downed to idols. I'm glad I don't have to pass judgement on people.

Simple questions: Ask yourself; why is there such animosity against the Lord's Sabbath? Do you really know what the Sabbath means? Why would so called "Christians" be against the Sabbath? If you don't have to keep the 4th commandment - why do you think that you would have to keep the other nine? Finally; if there is no law - there is no sin; if the is no sin, we don't need a Savior - doesn't Jesus becomes redundant? BTW: Sunday observance is man's tradition - not biblical, it does not replace the Sabbath.

From scripture we can see that the early christians did meet and broke bread together on the first day of the week. Jesus himself after his resurrection revealed himself on the first day of the week. On the 8th day he came again to the apostles. And he also revealed himself to john on patmos on the first day of the week. Jesus himself initiated the gathering with him on the first day of the week.
Ofcourse the first apostles did not go out preaching that the sabbath shouldnt be held on the 7th day anymore. No jew would accept that and they themselves were jews and wered used to go preaching on the sabbath so they kept doing it in the early stages to slowly get to spread the gospel. But its known that they gathered from early on on the sunday, the day of the Lord, initiated by the Lord himself.
Also a point to note is that not everything the appostles teached was written. Paul himself says to hold on to the things he wrote them AND the things he told them when he was with them. So they probably did verbally tell about this change of rest and gathering on the first day. That would explain why it was constitutionalized in the whole church cause why would they otherwise change something all of a sudden a few hundred years later if it was against scripture? That would make no sense. It must have already been the standard in the church since the beginning.

saying you can't be told to remember something that didn't pre-exist, is silly. you be can told to remember to do things that will take place in the future. Never heard of a to-do list?
And I'm confused why sda keep saying the seal of God is the 7th day Sabbath when the Bible clearly says the seal of God is the Holy Spirit ?(Eph. 1:13, 4:30, there is a verse in Corinthians too but I can't remember that off the top my head right now). I think every sda needs to take some time and read through the new testament slowly & objectively, especially Romans, Hebrews, Galatians - like read through that 5 times and 2 Corin. 3.
Sunday law is a fallacy, it will never happen. if Sabbath keeping is the test of who gets into heaven then there is no need for the other commands once you keep that one then you passed the test and your in, even if you murder, steal, fornicate, you keptbthe Sabbath then you get in. Also it cancels the need for grace and Jesus would've wasted His time dying on the cross since all that was needed is Sabbath keeping which has been around since OT. You literally would be working your way into heaven. Works salvation if I've every seen it. Furthermore, there is just nothing in the Bible to support a coming Sunday law, but much there to contradict it, but I'll leave that for another time.

It sure sounds like the caller was saying that when the time comes, the people worshiping on Sunday will either need to convert to Saturday worship or take the mark of the beast.
I have given a lot of time to looking at the Sabbath rules in the OT in the past. It has me thinking that, even today, the gentile Church as well as the Jewish Christians, should set aside one day a week to keep closely, but not necessarily to the same extreme, a day of rest according to the Sabbath instructions.
This is not for salvation or sanctification, etc. but for our own sake. "The sabbath was made for man...."
In today's world, ok, in the USA, everything is fast-paced and stressful. One day a week should be set aside to relax, take off from all work, and spend the time meditating on and focusing on God.
There are some commands that are given to the Jews where God says it is a covenant between the two FOREVER. That being the case, I can understand Jewish Christians following these feast, etc. without passing them on to the Gentiles. As Christians, they are not kept as a requirement of Salvation, but from a covenant relationship between God and the Nation He chose to reveal the Savior/Messiah.
I've only known a small handful of Jews and their families who were Christian, and they celebrated the feasts and other events because they were Jews. They all relaxed on the Sabbath, but I only met one family who really took the Sabbath seriously. They had prepared food from the day before that was either under a cover or in the fridge for anyone who would eat a meal or take a snack. They would worship on Friday evening and then drive home and then begin their day of rest. They spent the day singing hymns, reading the Word, and talking about and praising God and Jesus the Savior/Messiah. I envy their Sabbath!
They did not drive to worship on the Sabbath, as that would violate it, but they drove home on the Sabbath, LOL.
    I miss those people.

The host kept interrupting (very rude) but the SDA could not prove Sabbath keeping appart from Feast keeping... no SDA can.
The confusion SDAs have is with the word "LAW". They believe the term "LAW" is a reference only the the COMMANDMENTS. Not once in the whole of Scripture is "LAW" an indication the DECALOGUE only. The term tranlated "LAW" comes from "TORA". In other words, the DECALOGUE is part of the "TORA".
To keep the "LAW" is a demonstration of loyalty toward Y'HOVÁ ELOHIM and HIS CONSTITUTION, not to be saved, but out of respect. And no, no Sunday keeper will be saved once he does so WILLINGLY, having already been informed of the truth. The term WILLINGLY as it appears in the BritHadasha/Renewed Covenant (aka New Testament) means "dumb on purpose". For which there's no sacrifice.

There are two problems with this discussion I'd like to mention:
    1. The Adventist says that Sunday-keepers can be saved, which is a statement that I've commonly heard from them. Unfortunately, this directly contradicts the logic of their eschatology. SDA eschatology has traditionally taught that Sunday keeping is the "mark of the beast" (the "beast" being Catholicism), and that the seventh-day Sabbath is the "seal of God." The third angel's message declares in Revelation 14: 10 that anyone who receives the mark of the beast "will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb." If Sunday is the mark of the beast, then this verse necessitates the belief that Sunday keepers are lost. I was raised an SDA and still attend an SDA church, but I have yet to hear anyone preach that. (On a related note, SDAs frequently preach about the three angels' message in this chapter, yet try to make the third angel's message into something different, such as preaching the gospel to the world.)
    2. The Adventist also said that the Sabbath will be kept in heaven, using Isaiah 66: 23. This is a common argument made, but it is inaccurate. There is nothing in the Bible that explicitly says the Sabbath will be kept for eternity. That verse is part of a larger prophecy in Isaiah 65-66, and it mentions old men dying at 100 years old, something that would not happen in eternity, where there is no death (Revelation 21: 4). The same verse he cites, Isaiah 66: 23, also mentions the observation of the New Moon festival, which was part of the Old Covenant, and therefore cannot be referring to eternity. On this, both the caller and Dr. Brown are wrong.
I believe in keeping the seventh day Sabbath, but I reject the idea that it is necessary for salvation of that Sunday-keepers will receive the mark of the beast. The Sabbath is not part of the Old Covenant because it was listed in the Ten Commandments. Passover, Yom Kippur, and the other Jewish feasts of the Old Covenant were left out entirely. But we must only use Scripture, and not resort to falsehoods, to defend Sabbath keeping.

Jesus kept the sabbath, and it seems our brother Judah has done the same throughout history (that's one way we can know). I presume by "variable" you are referring to the length of each calendar month? That is true, but it has no bearing on the regular, weekly sabbath. That would only effect the High sabbaths, which designate the moedim, or "appointments with our Creator" (ie; the annual festivals) that were given at Sinai to all of Israel (not just brother Judah, as he represents just one of the 12 tribes). And you are wise to point out that the Gregorian calendar is not sufficient to advise on the sabbath. I think alot of these arguments would clear up if we would all study more, particularly the language the Torah was written in. I know that I need to.

@@stephentoons Thanks Stephen, just to be clear, I'm in no way supporting the Gregorian calendar as a way of knowing the actual 7th day(sabbath). I am the last person to debate calendars. I did however, feel an extremely rare desire to comment on a forum...Jesus kept the sabbath roughly 2,000 years ago, so I am stating that Yeshua knew the proper day. And if you take a look at religious Jews, they keep the sabbath, and I am unaware of any arguments by them over which day is the 7th day. It is correct that the bible teaches to keep track of time by using the moon. I have witnessed people who are trying to be accurate about their convictions, argue over the sighting of the moon. I do not wish to engage in those types of conversations, as they tend to divide, and I prefer to find common ground. I simply wanted to point out that the Jews have kept the sabbath both prior to, and since the Master walked the earth. There is nothing in the Bible that indicates Jesus correcting which day they kept. He did however, correct the way in which some of them were keeping the Torah. Since they were the appointed authority and teaching others, it is understandable why Jesus took issue with them. It seems the rabbi was slightly hostile towards hypocrites...a position that many decent people can find understandable even today. I may be naive, but I believe my brother Judah has done a fantastic job of keeping the "ordinances of God." So my specific point is, we can know the sabbath, but if we are wrong, G_d will correct us. In the end, we will all learn where we were wrong. Hence the need for true humility. Shalom dude

MessengerOfTruth If your going to say that the 4th commandment was only given to the Hebrews and only them, then you might as well say all the others are for them only.
Also the Sabbath was created before man had sinned, so its pre-law. And NO where in the bible does God say the Sabbath in abolished. He came not to abolish the law but to fulfill it.(does not mean remove) MATT :5:17 He kept them perfectly showing us an example. He also said to keep all His Laws and the Prophets in MATTHEW 22:36-40
It's not reinforced in the NW because it didn't need to be reinforced in that time. Back then everyone was keeping the 7th day Sabbath. And its clear Jesus was going into the temple every Sabbath as custom(LUKE 4:16). His disciples also kept God's Holy Sabbath, and as well as the gentiles. When has Jesus ever violated the Sabbath? Are you talking about when the pharisees accused Him of breaking the Sabbath. The pharisees were never right, and could never find anything to accuse Jesus of. And if Jesus is God, how can God brake His own commandment. He would have sinned, and we all know He cannot sin. He never changes, he's immutable. Jesus' disciplines simply went into the field and ate. The pharisees were attaching extra rules and regulations to God's commandments and creating burdens. That's why Jesus said that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. He was telling and showing them that the Sabbath is not supposed to be a burden, but a time to rest from life's weekly struggle and give Him your focus, time, and praise. And he also uses the example with an animal stuck in a ditch...... and healing and stuff.

Clearly it says that he's not destroying the law or the prophets.
Romans 3:31 "Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law."
He says we uphold the law, not to forget about it or not to keep it.
The 4th commandment is part of the law, just like all the other 9. Jesus also said to go by the prophets as well.
Matthew 22:36-40 " Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."
He basically said if you love me first, then you love your neighbor as yourself, all other law and prophets will follow. If you love God with all your heart, you're only going to want to please him. How do you please him? By keeping his commandments. John 14:15 "If you love me, keep my commands"

To use this verse to support the Sabbath, you basically shot yourself in foot. Because if you are saying that Jesus did not come to abolish the laws, then not only the Sabbath must be kept, but Passovers, animal sacrifices, circumcision and other Jewish ceremonial laws. Do you keep these things? Please read over this verse and others and others and study their contexts. Matthews 5:17 is about the fulfillment of these laws which he did.

Just a quick Note you said there is No reference that God instituted the Sabbath at the beginning How about in the Commandment itself Ex 20:11 "For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it"...… That's why they had to Remember it And We today too Forgot it

Ironically, it was never "obeyed" until almost 2000 yrs later. IT IS NOT COMMANDED like you think it is, you can't read your false teachings onto the scripture. And when it was finally given as a commandment, IT WAS GIVEN TO THE JEWS SPECIFICALLY. NOT ONLY THAT, but it is never repeated in the NT like all the other commandments are, why do you think that is????

Gocajoca You're taking a verse out of context and wishing it says what your false teaching think it says but it doesn't, YOU CANT JUST PICK A VERSE AND SAY, THERE IT SAYS THIS. IF THAT WAS THE CASE I CAN SHOW YOU A BIBLE VERSE THAT SAYS "THERE IS NO GOD". You have to read scripture in its context, BY WHAT IT SAYS AND WHAT IT DOESN'T SAY. What does it say?? "THAT IT IS A SIGN BETWEEN GOD AND JEWS". What does it not say?? THERE IS NOT ONE VERSE THAT A SABBATH WAS KEPT FROM GENESIS TO WHEN IT WAS GIVEN AT SINAI, IN OTHER WORDS FROM ADAM TO MOSES AND ALL THE PEOPLE IN BETWEEN

In response to Dr. Brown's question about keeping the entire Jewish calendar, the caller said "Not to dodge your question..." - and then he proceeded to dodge his question!
In any case, Jesus said in Mark 2:27: "...The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath." So, I believe that God will judge us based on how much we loved HIM and our neighbors (Matthew 22:36-40)...and not on how much we observed the law. (Galatians 3:10-11)

Hi Dan, according to Apostle John and Jesus, the way you keep his commandments are a measure by which you show his love to him.
The Apocalypse written by John, makes clear distinctions between those who have the righteous deeds and those who don't throughout entire book. Your deeds will show what kind of faith you have. If you work iniquity, you will not be accepted. How do we explain iniquity today, if we set aside god's commandments? Does the word lawlessness have any meaning today? Or we can do everything we want as long as we believe Christ?

Keeping the Sabbath needs to be defined. Can you name a single person in the Bible that ever kept the Sabbath? Jesus is the only one in scripture that kept the Sabbath. Going to a church on Saturday is not keeping the Sabbath.

2 when did he remove this blessing from the 7th day?
3 Is setting aside Sunday a man chosen day and tradition of man?

In the Law of Moses, the first five books of the bible God never told Israel to worship him on the Sabbath Day, he told them including the herd and cattle to rest. He did not tell them to worship him, the words Sabbath & worship is not mentioned anywhere together in the law.

You ask where are the ceremonial law and the 10 commandments separated.?
Well to answer your question, The ceremonial laws where not kept inside the Ark of the covenant. Only the Ten Commandments where kept in the Sacred Ark. The Ceremonial laws where kept apart outside of the main Ark.
      That's quite a separation, don't you think?
One was temporary, the other immutable.

Wow? Personal attack for telling you the truth? The Sabbath was blessed and sanctified at creation Ted. It has never ended. If you want to obey man's traditions by discarding the true Commandment then I believe the messenger of lies falls back on you. Jesus condemned them that were the elite religious leaders of His day in Mark 7:7, Matthew 15: 5, 6 for their substitutions of man made traditions. You should be thankful someone tries to show you how and why discarding the Seventh Day Sabbath for Sunday holiness is dead wrong.

The reason we do not keep all the feasts is because the sabbath is included in the ten commandments aka the law of God. The other feasts where not. There is also a distinction between annual, monthly, and thw weekly sabbath. The weekly sabbath was blessed and sanctified at creation prior to the fall of man. Every other feast was given after the fall of man

No where in the Bible will you find believers worshiping on the first day of the week. This is something that was brought into the church by paganism. Please read Rome's Challenge. They know what they did and why. It's the reason the reformation failed.
The reason we SDA don't keep the feasts but do keep the 4th commandment is because there is a clear difference between the 10 commandments God wrote with His finger in stone and the ceremonial law which Moses wrote in a scroll which is a "witness against us" which is a "type and shadow of things to come" which was fulfilled in the ministry of Jesus. All the feasts and ceremonies pointed to the ministry of the Messiah, hence it "was nailed to the cross". Was the 10 commandments nailed to the cross Dr Brown? Can we now commit adultery? In what way is the 4th commandment messianic if the Sabbath day was made holy (separated for God) during creation week before Moses was even born? How does the ministry of Jesus do away with one of the 10 commandments of God?

The book of Genesis tells us that God institutes the Sabbath in the first week of creation when everything was perfect, and sanctified it. The book of Isaiah tells us that when God has made a new heaven and a new earth and everything is once again perfect, we will all worship God on the Sabbath.
Meditate and pray on this: God instituted the Sabbath in the very first week of creation, when everything was perfect. He then spent thousands of years drilling the importance of the Sabbath into the heads of the children of Israel. He shows us in his Word that in the new kingdom where everything is perfect, we will all come together and worship on the Sabbath. With this in mind... do you honestly think that Gods intentions towards the Sabbath has changed for us?

I am not a seventh Day Adventist and l truly enjoy listening to this program l will however say that l understood the sabbath when l was seven years old. What many people have failed to realize is that it isn’t so much about a particular day but rather obedience to God. Have you ever asked yourself was God tired? Did he need to rest? When he sanctified and made the sabbath holy there were no jews. People that keep the Sabbath are not doing it to be saved, they’re just simply acknowledging The Creator of heaven and earth . Only the spirit of God can reveal to someone that the sabbath will be a delite and not a burden
