I had an opportunity to stay in St. Agnes for a few weeks this summer and fly with John Woodfield, a real gentleman and great flyer. Traveled south to Cudden Point when the wind was south. Flying anywhere in Cornwall is a treat. Will be back !!
how fortunate to have a site like that wow! nothing comes close here in NZ, not anywhere that is easily accessible or user friendly and if one does find somewhere its a long walk and a lonely one :( its all farmland and scrub with very inhospitable cliffs, there are a few places that folk use, Christchurch has about the best place but thats to far for me in the North island, but so few and far between it makes slope soaring low on the r/c list ..sad . so its all flat field thermal soaring here and in summer because of all the cows here we are covered in bloody flys lol.great video :)
Hi Mark. As far as I’m aware, model gliders, hang gliders & paragliders are still not allowed to fly off the National Trust land at St Agnes. This was instigated by Natural Resource’s England who were concerned about the welfare of ground nesting birds.
If the lads had an all-up last-down competition they'd still be up there 😁 great video Steve, I'll have to pop along one these days. Are you still on holiday?
Thanks Cliff. No I’ve been back about 3 weeks now but going back for a very quick visit a week Saturday and will probably have a few days later in August too. Got a mfc bbq to video next weekend, then a PSSA event on the 24th/25th. Busy, busy
how about a google map link to the location.. it seems ideal with not to much of a walk... getting old now, too much walking and I cant manage ... davereap
It’s to do with the protection of ground nesting birds! Yea I know, mad! Every year there are thousands of walkers with their unleashed dogs that probably do far more damage to nesting birds than model flying.
@@A470RCSoaring Exactly! Bmfa will hopefully get a licence which will probably require a members fee to fly there and probably only after the nesting season. The New Forest club in Beaulieu is fighting to continue flying on the old ww2 runway too.
@@bobi2582 well, Natural Resources England we’re contemplating extending the flying ban after September due to grey seals coming ashore to have their pups! Even I don’t fly that bloody low lol. But it’s another example of the fun police exerting their authority. They just don’t want model planes, paragliders & hang gliders there.

Great stuff. John is such a lovely guy. Have you seen my interview with John on my channel?
Yes I really liked the interview. Also saw his video where he emptied out his shop of all his planes !!!!@@A470RCSoaring
Great place once I have to travel to Cornwall to fly at the coast. Nice video
Now that's a quiver or two. Very Nice
Great to see the sport of slope soaring is very much alive in Cornwall. That looked an exhilarating session Steve 👍
It was exhilarating. But watch my new video published tomorrow which was even more exhilarating
@@A470RCSoaring I'll look forward to that 👍
What a beautiful spot to fly!

I have flown at this beautiful site in the past but the last I heard the BFMA had asked for all gliding to stop there . Has this been resolved?

@@A470RCSoaring what a terrible shame are there any other sites close you can fly from?
@@markpedwell1250 the only place I know of is just along the coast at Perranporth, where John Woodfield flys from.

Gliding at St Agnes has now been banned by the National Trust. What harm is it possibly doing after all these years. Woke Britain!
