I think it's good thing to see new guides for such an old game, and especially for a private server but I have a few suggestions or corrections for your guide. First thing are the talents, where you say that there's only one choice. I guess you meant for icc/ruby content, because with low gear a blood subspec is the better option. Also if your guild is fairly new to lk hc encounters or you could use the support, you could scrap the 2 points from Dirge and put them in Desecration, which slows the valkyries perfectly and automatically. You also don't need the runic power from Dirge most of the time because you can easily gain it from antimagicshield, revitalize(druid), blessing of sanctuary (prot pally) and/or rapture(disc). For the glyphs you could switch out Dark death with Disease, which is a little bit harder to play but gives you a damage boost if played well and in fights with adds, a damage boost none the less because you spread diseases with your normal rotation. Also if you're able to get t9,75 I would always play with glyph of disease because you can use the snapshot mechanic of it with the overpowered set bonus in figths with adds or trash fights. Also t9,75 +glyph of disease is a better choice than just putting in glyph of death and decay if you want that sweet sweet aoe dmg. The thing about expertise ist not only do you still gain runic power, you still get your trinkets or whatever to proc. Even if your first 3 hits get dodged, your pets still gain power from your procs. Also you skill 5 expertise and if you play orc, for damage reasons of course, you get +5 expertise from wearing an axe. If you still want to play with 26 expertise I would recommend playing with gloves offset as opposed to legs. Another point would be the usage of different sigils. hanged man is the best for boss fights, but for trash fights the sigil of virulence is better. Overall I think it's a good guide, except the expertise cap thing, but there's still a lot to cover left out: Gear, (pet)bufffood, enchants, usage of different weaponenchants, snapshoting, what to play with lower gear and/or in lower content and of course the points I already said at the beginning. Still like your streams and vids, keep it up :)
Great video! Completely new to DK here, but I'm swapping to Unholy in Wrath classic. I'm interested as to how exactly Frost subspec outperforms Blood subspec. With Blood subspec, you take 2/2 Butchery (2 RP per 5) 3/3 Subversion (9% bonus crit to Scourge Strike + Threat reduction) 5/5 Bladed Armor (Lets say you have 10k armor, so 55.5*5 = 278 bonus AP) 2/2 2H Weapon Specialization (4% Bonus damage with 2H) 5/5 Dark Conviction (5% Global Crit) In Frost subspec, you take 3/3 Imp. Icy Touch (15% bonus damage to Icy Touch) 2/2 Runic Power Mastery (30 bonus RP) 5/5 Black Ice (10% bonus Shadow/Frost Damage) 5/5 Icy Talons (20% bonus haste) 2/2 Endless Winter (4% bonus strength, 0 cost Mind Freeze) To me, it sounds like you get more value out of Blood subspec than Frost, at least up until a certain strength/haste breakpoint from gear that outscales the % bonus damage/crit you receive from Blood subspec. Would you say that Frost is better than Blood in all raid situations? Does it ever change based on your gear?
I got no personal experience in this department but apparently on both Frostmourne S1 and S2 Frost and Unholy Dk's were using the blood subspec pre ToC, Idk about ToC though.
It's a question of gearing. Early on you want blood subspec to help make up for the lack of crit and stats on gear. Later on as you push toward ICC you'll have enough inherent crit that the increased weapon damage and haste will cause the swing speed from frost tree to sync even better with necrosis and blood-caked blade. Also, +4% strength and using no runic power to help when silence is called for count for a lot. One weakness of this video is that it dogmatically preaches the spec that was heralded as the end all be all of unholy DPS once a character was mostly or fully decked out in ICC gear without actually explaining why and breaking talents and reasoning down. The blood subspec is generally what will help carry you into tier 9. About the time you're exiting tier 9 you'll need to re-evaluate whether you're ready to switch.
Awesome! I always wanted to try out an Unholy DK now its the time! @Awbee I see you have alot of PoV's of Combat Rogue is it possible to do a guide like this one for it? Keep the great work!
I know that it's an old vid, but you've mentioned both in the video & the comments that SM makes a huge difference and I was wondering.. how much of a difference it is to the dps compared to Glorenzelg(the pre-bis)? People have written all over forums that the weapon doesn't make that much of a difference in the UDK damage since you dont rely on it as much as other classes. Thanks for the great content!
Just stumbled upon your video as I'm preparing for WOTLK classic and I REALLY like your WA's (I think they're WAs at least) that show the timers of your diseases just above your action bar. Could you share where you got those and how to implement them?
Its Need to know, the addons in my discord, links in the description, thats version for warmane 3.3.5 though, you might want to google for a wotlk classic one.
A thing to consider there is that armor penetration will not affect most of our magic damage (diseases, death and decay, death coil, unholy blight). Crit can affect all that plus give more wandering plague procs. Armor penetration will affect our strikes and auto attacks, even indirectly influencing necrosis and scourge strike's shadow damage since they are calculated based on physical damage dealt by the attack. Part of it will be a question of how far down the crit diminishing returns curve you get too. Crit gets less effective as you stack it. Armor penetration does the reverse.
Hey mate, It is often asked question and I understand the thought, as far as I remember it was between Unholy Blight and Morbidity, and Unholy Blight simply gave more damage during a fight, it is also a reason why I suggest going Death Coil > Blood Strike > Death Coil instead of DC > DC > BS, just to inch out a little bit more of its damage. Also it has some serious PvP value and if you've ever played Frostmourne with the Mythic Timewalking custom content from Warmane the dispel resistance was actually useful there but I'm going on a tangent now so i'll stop :p. Is the expertise that you get from talents shown in your character menu ? (If the cap i 26 and I get 5 from talents and 5 from racial trait does that mean that I should cap experience at 11 ??)
It should display on your character pane, yes. The reason is that it isn't conditional upon anything but having the talent active. So you would still reach for 26 expertise, but a naked character with talent should display 5 expertise (or 10 if using a race-related weapon like an orc with an axe).
Then you haven't seen a uh DK in RS25HC or at LoD, you could still argue you can outdps them on single target but even that is hard when Uh has Shadowmourne.
@@GrimJRS Yeah there are a lot of single target fights in WoTLK but Uh is more valuable to the raid then a fdk if there is a blood dk Tank, I have in the past bested many fdks as uh on single target fights too, once you get that shadowmourne its so good.
Why play it over a private server? you wanna be Blizzards sugar daddy after they made WC3 Reforged? or did you already forget they ruined a perfect game for stonks that negatively backfired and they since than have done NOTHING to make Reforged better?
its been a minute since I looked at the talent trees, wasn't 1 point in morbidity 5% dmg and 1 point in unholy blight.. 10% dmg? over time maybe but thats still more then 5%. This debate has been had and is settled, blight > morbidity.
You said that morbidity is useless for end game content because dnd is whoring pretty much. And 30 seconds later you said that glyph of death and decay is good for rs. Isn t that end game content? If you do the math the 5% from morbidity on death coil>unholy blight which is a dot you clip everytime you use 2 death coils in a row. The only situation where unholy blight=morbidity is when you are runic power capped and you can use 2 death coil to apply 3 unholy blight dots on 3 different targets like the p2 at LK.
1/3 morb is a decent talent for some specific fights. There's always that discussion coming to Unholy in what would you spend that 1 point and there are 3 options (we're assuming a single target based spec, pretty much standard): 1- 1/3 morb which will increase DC damage by 5% and the 5 sec CDR on DnD which in some fights is useful, besides that on single target you're using the 5% only. 2- Unholy blight 1/1 trading of morb 1/3, which in a normal rotation where you prio rune usage (as it should be, going the other way around is a strict dps loss) over runic power usage you end up getting bitter results specially if the target dies before the DoT ends. Only becomes better on tank and spank fights. 3- 1/3 subversion instead. This is based of mostly on how well SS scales into crit (the difference with hit/crit due to the shadow part dipping aswell is gigantic, up to 2.5-3 times a damage differential). It is highly recommended to take this specially if you run DBW as 2nd trinket. Overall that talent point won't do any noticeable difference. As any guide says rotation is the key aswell as playstyle, unholy is one of those classes in which the rotation can flex a lot into a fight. DnD usage is not whoring neither a DPS loss on single target if you get full uptime (specially if you compare it to hit SS). Those who say using DnD =whoring have no fucking clue about the class. You can use DnD if you're getting dodged once on SS to get back on rotation pretty quick without loosing almost any damage on a static fight. That brings us to EXP cap, there's a discussion wether if you should reach it or not. No cap: more raw damage yet more RNG. 2 PS dodge is devastating, yet if you don't get them dodged the extra stats you're getting are worth it. Sims have showed that Not capping> capped. But is up to every player choice, once again. P.S: there are many clever ways to play around DnD usage, taunts, etc on uhdk, that's why you flex rotation specially on non-static fights. Is not a TTW playstyle.
If there is something that Awbee managed to get right in this video it is the talent list. Unholy Blight works like Deep Wounds and Ignite on Warmane, meaning that if u do one Death Coil for 10k damage, and do another right after for 10k damage (20k total), Unholy Blight will do a total of 2k damage over 10 seconds so nothing is wasted. On top of that, Glyph of Dark Death and Morbidity dont stack additively and reduces each others value by small amount... Most of the stuff that needs to be AoE'd at end game in wotlk like Valks on LK and Adds on Halion come every 30+sec, so you don't need the Cooldown reduced. You can argue that 25sec CD syncs better with Runes if you have to place it exactly every 30sec, but its not a big deal. When it comes to Unholy Blight vs Subversion vs Morbidity, Unholy Blight will be your best choice if you want to have 1% of total, overall damage increase. If you want DnD on a 25sec CD and not to worry if target dies before Unholy Blight gets at least 5sec of damage on it, you can go Morbidity. If you want more crit on SS and even lower threat, you can go Subversion. But Unholy Blight will ALWAYS do more damage than those two options, the damage is just small, ~0.5% overall damage loss if you pick one of the other two options, so you wont ever notice the difference. You guys should really try to look up some information, at least on Google, or old retail forums, before descecrating something as easy as Unholy DK in PvE. Makes me sad, wont lie...
@@urosdasic8121 If you wanted a dps increase you'd start doing your rotation right in the first place. UHB is a crap talent that has been proven to be inferior on some fights to the other two options. There's people that actually took time to get every variable tested and realized that the other 2 are better options since they are more consistent (not only going by a straight "this shit gives you "x%" increase on your damage kind of crap).
@@vezax8505 I want to know who are those people who said UHB is inferior to Morbidity or Subversion, I really do. And on top of that I want to see the math used for tgat proof... For me, its simple, you open recount after a Boss fight and you can see that UHB does 1% of total damage done, more than Morbidity and Subversion. Case closed. As for rotation, I really dont want to get in to it because I would need a whole video, not just 1 comment.

Hey awbee! Would u do a combat rogue guide or like tips? plss it would be amazing :D
Eventually m8
Why don't you actually read Fluffybully guides on Warmane? You ain't gonna find any better guide for rogue on Wotlk in the whole internet.
@@vezax8505 nicee ty man! appreciated
How much of a difference does it make, roughly, using glyph of disease vs. glyph of icy touch?
Just dont use glyph of desease as UDK mate, sux.
i frkn love your accent and your content
I crushed every unholy dk on the dps list in warmane as a frost dk.
Also back in wotlk.
Then you haven't seen a uh DK in RS25HC or at LoD, you could still argue you can outdps them on single target but even that is hard when Uh has Shadowmourne.
@@AwbeeX57 I was just sharing my experience.
Frost will always to more single boss damage than UH and i feel that more important.
@@GrimJRS Yeah there are a lot of single target fights in WoTLK but Uh is more valuable to the raid then a fdk if there is a blood dk Tank, I have in the past bested many fdks as uh on single target fights too, once you get that shadowmourne its so good.
@@AwbeeX57 So your statement looks like UH DK can Beat Frost ONLY if it Has SM ?!

@@AwbeeX57 damnnn so just sticking to private servers? Why not play?
Why play it over a private server? you wanna be Blizzards sugar daddy after they made WC3 Reforged? or did you already forget they ruined a perfect game for stonks that negatively backfired and they since than have done NOTHING to make Reforged better?

hdlp me i have 62 expertise gademet T^T full pve gear with toc trinks and oxheart hc
Get different gear, nothing else will help.
Your talent tree is all wrong im sorry, you should absolutely take morbidity and drop unholy blight, try it out your dps will increase i assure you
its been a minute since I looked at the talent trees, wasn't 1 point in morbidity 5% dmg and 1 point in unholy blight.. 10% dmg? over time maybe but thats still more then 5%.
This debate has been had and is settled, blight > morbidity.
@@AwbeeX57 i dont get how you dont see how ur nerfing your unholy blight damage by not having morbidity
Do Frost dk pve guide pls
Probably won't be making any guides soon, i'll shift my focus to top 5's.
The cooldown reduction isn't good is what i said which is true. 1 Unholy Blight > 1 Morbidity, we've looked at it on stream so many times.
1/3 morb is a decent talent for some specific fights.
There's always that discussion coming to Unholy in what would you spend that 1 point and there are 3 options (we're assuming a single target based spec, pretty much standard):
1- 1/3 morb which will increase DC damage by 5% and the 5 sec CDR on DnD which in some fights is useful, besides that on single target you're using the 5% only.

How much haste does an Uhn Dk need to sustain a good dps?
