    I'm a former Owner Op, got out in 2010. We all have a few small mistakes on the road, especially when rookies, but was not as bad/widespread as this when I was trucking

      Wow I wish I could say the same, now days on the road during my trips I see at least 1 semi accident per trip, not necessarily to this extent but not far off sometimes, Iv seen a guy drive into the yellow poles head on at a CAT scale :/

    You're 25 years old and you have 20 years of experience? And you see a jackknifed rig and tell him to reverse out of it? Shine on you crazy diamond.

      The way I understood his comment, he was saying the best way out of this predicament would have been to reverse back up the hill BEFORE attempting any sort of U-turn. Who knows, maybe the driver might have been able to do so had he come to a smooth stop. It's entirely possible, however, that the previous low clearance signs were covered by even more vegetation than this one was, and when he realized what this one was saying he locked up his brakes and jackknifed his trailer in the process. The video is just a driver trying to not have to report a jackknife and ending up having to report even more damage in his attempt to get out of it. That's but one possibility.

    Good stuff John. I am extremely careful when simply driving on the freeways, I won't allow a Swift truck to get within a 50ft radius of my truck, I don't trust them to stay within their own lanes. I know we all started somewhere, we all made rookie mistakes, but we learned and improved. It seems that Swift driver turnover is so high that they have rookies in most every truck in the fleet. I don't want to paint with an overly broad brush, Swift might have some really great drivers, but there is so much video evidence of that company's mistakes, it naturally draws us to make assumptions about their drivers in general. Stay safe out there John.

      I could not agree with you more, we can’t help but make these assumptions based on all the evidence that’s out there, the good ones (swift drivers) don’t get talked about because we don’t see anything about them on the internet haha just like all the other good companies we don’t know about 😅

    A number of years ago a driver rammed the back of a car and killed a number of people - includeing children. It was found the truck was not registered, not road worthy, the driver had bribed state testers and truck inspectors to get his licence and registration. A lot of testers lost their jobs and those drivers they had passed had to be retested - many failing.

    • @John_Bunk
      @John_Bunk  4 месяца назад

      Oh my that is tragic, it’s very unfortunate for those drivers that passed without having to bribe that tester to pass but still having to come back an re do it because of their low morals

      @@John_Bunk Drove a box truck years ago, that's about it.
      Have had a love of trucking ever since I heard my first 6V53 Detroit in a day cab delivering across the street at RCA in Moorestown NJ, sometime in the late 60's. The shipping and receiving driveway was a treat to watch. Moon, Sun, REA Express, Navajo, lots of fallen flags that are no more. McLean, St. Johnsbury and a few other transport companies. Now I work for a small mom and pop transportation service in Alabama, but I work on the Coroners side.
