i'm here to defend lunch's place in the album. lunch is such a good theme piece; especially for an album the progression from infatuation to heartbreak. skinny is kind of the prologue. it's the point where you've come to terms with the heartbreak and you're going to share that story. if skinny is the prologue where billie's kind of introducing the story development ("fell in love for the first time / with a good friend, it's good sign" to "and my, my patience is gone / and i, i never did you wrong" as an example), then lunch is the starting point: infatuation. it's a song that doesn't push it self too hard into one extreme or another vocally or thematically. there's no highs or lows. it's just innocent infatuation. the reptition of the song is like the reptition of how you think about someone you're infatuated with. it's that point where you're still in that honeymoon stage and wanting to just be with and be pleased by that person you're infatuated with. i'm just saying. lunch is probably top 5 on album. this my hill to die on frfr.
