I'm so glad they actually gave the opera singer whose voice we heard a prominent credit! Obviously they couldn't pretend it was really Julianne Moore but actually giving the singer a credit in the trailer is not a typical move. Still, as much as I LOVE JM and I want to see this because I love Ken Watanabe too, it would have been nice if they'd hired a real opera singer.

I’m not aware of the original story line but they movie was a 7.5/10. Good acting, great emotional triggers, action (not too much), and no dull moments. I’m not sure why they’re so many negative comments lol.

The book is so beautiful, read years ago and it stays with you, but the trailer clearly sub par with the book, I’ll not watch it , best read the book again
It is based on a real story that happend in Perú but the real story wasn’t like the movie , the hostages really suffer and the MRTA treat them like hell a lot of the good people died but finally we were free from terrorism
Movie would have ended earlier if they had gotten Florence Foster Jenkins.

Soy de Peru, no sabia de Maria antes de esta pelicula. Me encanto su actuacion y ame cuando la escuche hablar su idioma nativo en la pelicula ❤
It's a complete distortion of the real facts which happened in Lima, Peru when terrorists took over the Japanese embassy in Peru.
But is just a Hollywood movie which took as a guiding line the also distorted version of Bel Canto's book. Is just human imagination giving different paths to a real story
So let's not be so critical about it and just enjoy the fictional ride.
This is from novel, of course many alter to differ from real story

Es un libro y película de ficción que puede tomarse sus libertades al no plasmar los hecgos tal y como sucedieron, en ningún momento se menciona al Perú o al MRTA.

Glorifying and romantizing such terrible actions from MRTA is beyond words. Hopefully he younger generations will get that that it is a novel that inspired this movie and not the heinous acts these terrorists tried in Peru

very hard to follow when you have bad subtitles like on prime, there are several languages and accents in the mobie, they should have provided with full english subtitles
Se agradece la intención sabemos que es una version de la toma a la embajada de Japon por los del MRTA , pero en la pelicula percibo q los hacen quedar como buenos y en la vida real no fue asi ! Los MRTA eran crueles con los rehenes ! Pero de niña pude ver en vivo el emotivo restate que el rescate del siglo que jamaa olvidare 🇵🇪😢

¿Era necesario que una producción extranjera tomara la trama para poder desarrollarla? Al parecer, sí. Luego de tantos bodrios en películas de bajo presupuesto, me alegra bastante como peruano que se tomen tramas que fueron tan trascedentales para la historia. La repercusión e influencia del terrorismo en el Perú cruzó las fronteras y varios grupos terroristas fueron formados en base a lo que hizo Sendero luminoso o el MRTA. No puedo decir que será buena, o mala, pero considero que es una gran oportunidad para poder empezar a tomar relevancia en tramas nacionales con una gama de dignos actores y todos los elementos de una genial producción con un sólido presupuesto.
Juan Carlos Torres Lozano toman el tema del MRTA como base pero no ee del todo lo mismo. Lei el libro hace un par de años y no me gusto
Si, aunque esta pelicula no narra los hechos tal como fueron ya que, es una ficción. Sin embargo, se ve interesante
Si, me alegra mucho que en esta película el MRTA sean los héroes. Ciertamente los valores de producción superiores hacen que esta versión ficticia tergiversada a favor del MRTA sea mejor que una versión que busca contar la historia fielmente.
Esta claro que es la mejor manera de reiniciar el debate acerca del terrorismo en el Perú. Con la noble Miss Roxanne y su mascota San Benjamín.

Es un libro y película de ficción que puede tomarse sus libertades al no plasmar los hechos tal y como sucedieron, en ningún momento se menciona al Perú, los sucesos pasan en "algún país sudamericano".
found a bootleg and FF'd through it, and I don't think the movie epilogue preserves the singer/translator relationship from the book. Too bad, that is a compelling avenue for the characters in the aftermath.

For the movie it really only 6 or 7 out of 10 still good movie.

I make spolier because now maybe some not understand end movie but the opera singer so powerful the opera singer and translator both see their dead loved ones its so poetic when opera singer singed for the end.
For me the movie good sometimes this difficult to watch and maybe boring but also very poor movie poor meaning budget very poor but only I watching movie Julianne Moore.
I am just happy Julianne Moore has a big part in the movie not small part.
Maybe then the translator fall in love with the rebel lady and now the rebel lady the wife although I never really see the rebellady loving the Japan translator she never shows love to the translator.
I think it just shows even though the woman is a rebel she wants the translator because he is rich and translate for a rich man otherwide I wonder if maybe the budget very low and it just not matter to show equal loving like a big budget movie.
Regardless I suppose the translator love the rebel or say the translator fall in love.
I have not read the book but maybe in the book it express then equal love between the two.
Then though the ending very nice and emotional.

"se supone" q se basa en la embajada de japon pero no se si el mundo entero sepa eso!! si no fuera por los paños rojos en la cara y ver un japones ... no supondria q es basado en eso ... creo q esta todo hecho desde otro punto de vista y cambiaron muchísimas cosas ... vi la pelicula de los chilenos q quedaron atrapados en la mina ... mucho mejor adaptación
En ningún momento dice "basada en hechos reales" solo dice "inspirada" y eso en el cine se interpreta como ficción. Podrían haberla ubicada en África o Europa sin problema.
