Wonderful! One of my favourite 'early' KC classics. I first saw them perform it at Birminghsm (England) Town Hall c.1972. I presume this featured Mel Collins who was also sax/mellotron player at that gig.
The first 4 Crimson albums were the best they ever made! Fripp was the genius behind the compositions & Peter Sinfields lyrics were poetic masterpieces! The Wetton/Bruford/Cross band was phenomenal, great live improvisors, incredible musicians, but the albums they made can't compare to the first 4!
Your final remark is a matter of debate on KC's followers. On a contrary, I think the stage 1969-75 couldn't be overcame for any of the later KC's incarnations.
I hope they play this when I see them on the upcoming tour!! Edit: saw them in St. Augustine and they played it! Such an incredible show- the setlist was great and the chemistry the band shared with us in the crowd was ‘elektrik’ to say the least. IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THEM YET, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO SO!!!
In Florida??? I was at that show! SO fucking mind blowing. I forgot they even played this with how amazing everything was. I wish there was video of that show.
Good version from the Elements album, considering is live like 50 years later, but it only makes me crave for the original in Lizard, nothing can equal that ;)
No it's not. I mean that overrated Jakko could at least try to stay close to the original Gordon Haskell performance on the album. Instead of improvising on a classic like this. Gordon RIP. And I miss John Wetton, he could do this song so much better than this flat soulless Jakko. Smh.
@@mot00rzysta rite ! this isnt d best version... From u.k. They lost me after RED! And believe me I’ve tried, just my opinion. Sinfield and later on Palmer James lyrics. Would transport you somewhere else. Love the early stuff. Just saying. Exiles from larks, one of the best tracks Of all time?
I don't like this interpretation: slow, cold, without passion ... and the singer is the worst the band has ever had in its entire history ... of course the background makes it difficult ...
That light acustic guitar on top of it all is insanity. Fripp you are a genius love tlp777
Man. This song hits hard.
Thanks, King crimson for these heavenly emotional songs.
Ah yes, Araki bringing even my sweet little Doppio here. Thank you.
I was in heaven seeing this performed by Fripp, Jakko and company in San Francisco 2017.
Awesome recording, but sure wish there was video!
Holy moly. Fripp really knows how to put some good bands together. And the music is already written.
Fripp is truly a musical genius!
Beautiful music... outstanding. Thank you Mr. Fripp!
timeless jewel

Immense song.
wassup
Very good!!!!
It's so good to have this music available
KC had a real knack for walking the tightrope between beautiful and downright scary. This song is a perfect example.
Saw them do this at the Academy Of Music back in the early 70s. Brilliant
Crimson Kingdom forevermore
King Crimson is King
This version of cirkus is the best one

Pretty darn excellent. Could use another drummer though. 4 drummers really makes it come together. KC on tour again, yikes.
