Yes. I was working there when that accident happened. Made me pretty nervous because my shift was the last people to touch the airplane before it crashed, turned out to be pilot error though so we were in the clear. Sucked that we lost her though
I did not know that they had blamed it on the pilot. He knew that this is a short strip and had to plant it on the numbers to stop safely. If that dirt pile was not there everything would have turned out OK. I just think the pilot was not 100% at fault here.
I'm surprised to see the magnetos switches on off as you start the procedure ... So the engine starts with the prime & spark boost switches only and the magnetos turned on later ?
This is awesome! Love this old bird. I just purchased the PMDG DC-6 for MSFS and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites.
Me too! I feel at home watching this video.
I wanna buy it so badly, I am saving up
The propellers look like they're variable pitch? Forgive my ignorance. I'm glad these old birds are still around!
Yes, they are constant speed with feathering and reverse as well
These videos are fantastic! I know you meant them for the PMDG DC-6 group, but would you mind if I share them over at California Classic Propliners?
Dont mind at all
This DC-6 was written off in a landing incident not to long ago. This is the blue one..right?

Are there any companies in US that give tour rides in any of these classics?
👍

No. They are left off until 12 blades have turned. Then the mags are turned on and ignition boost is applied
@@joshloar7090 Oh ok, thanks for the answer. I'll modify my flight sim procedures. :)
