That first layer, the base gel is supposed to be sticky and you shouldn't touch and make it less sticky because the sticky layer assures better adhesion of the material your putting on the base gel (builder gel/polygel). Coming from a professional nail tech, do not touch the sticky layer with your fingertips!!😂😂
Lil tips : If you wanna avoid depression you should still have some kind of routine and planning even if it's planning to stay in your bed bc your brain needs to be organized to be happy
Thoughts as to why the nail popped off- -idk if you did this off camera or I overlooked it, but before applying the base coat, you should cleanse the nail with acetone and apply a primer (I use one called No Lift Nails, honestly bomb af). The filing dust probably interfered with the adhesion of the polygel -I personally find dualforms to be kinda tricky because its so easy to get air pockets between your nail and the product, and since your polygel was colored instead of clear, it would be hard to know if there were large spots where the polygel isn't touching your natural nail at all, making it easy for the nail extension to YEET itself off your finger if you happen to smack it anywhere. -I saw someone else mention this, but its worth noting again, every gel product (excluding some gel topcoats) are supposed to be sticky coming out of the lamp. The stickiness of the base coat is important for getting the polygel to stick to it, so touching it a lot is gonna compromise the adhesion (I do polygel on my sister, when she tries to even scratch her nose after I apply the base coat I scold her because I'm dedicated to getting good adhesion 😂) -I know you filed vigorously (please don't do that, it hurt my soul. The general consensus is you only need to buff it enough to remove the shine), but I used to do the same when I started out and still got lifting, I later found out this was because I was excessively filing everywhere except the most important bit- by the cuticle. When your cuticle grows it clings to your nail bed like a newborn to its momma, but when you push it back, some cuticle is usually left on there, so its extra important to make sure the part of your nail nearest your cuticle is free of any leftover skin, or again, the YEETing will occur (Not trying to shade or anything, I don't know what you cut out of the video so I can't say for sure what happened, I'm just trying to potentially provide some advice! I've been doing my own nails for years and I love supporting people who want to get into it for themselves, especially now when nails salons are not an option for most people!) Not a nail tech yet, but I've done quite a few gel sets in my day. Any pro techs feel free to correct me if I am mistaken on anything or left anything out! Slay those nails during this quarantine ladies! 😁
I started using poly gel half a year ago and I have a tip for you: the cuticle area should be as thin as possible :) this makes it look more natural and the out grow is not as visible . You can wrap tinfoil under your lamp and on the backside, so it reflects more. Mine has mirrors inside, I think it will work. You did a great job for the first time!! Loved watching you 😘
you can tell she watched simply nailogical by the way she says "wow" and "bake that shit for a minute" which is confusing cause simply nailogical isn't known for gel polish and fake nails
Our lockdown is starting tomorrow..... Like an hour ago i ran to the store and bought some fake nails and nail glue... Just so i dont chop off my own hands because of how ugly my nails are
Ooh hey lindy it’s really bad to cut your cuticles and even bite your nails because you can cause your fingers to become prone to infection due to the cutting and biting at skin and nail and sometimes can even end up in having to get your fingers amputated. Keep your fingers safe everyone! ✌🏻❤️🙏🏻
everybody the first time trying gel: why is it still sticky?! . ,. . . (the sticky layer is normal, just wipe it off. There are "no wipe" ones without sticky residue :D)
Don't worry, yellow nails don't matter as SimplyNailogical would say! If you use pigmented nail polish they will yellow, it happened to me after I used ONCE black nail polish. Just let your nail grow and the yellow will gradually disappear as you file your nail... or you can just cover them with more nail polish and nobody will notice ;)
I've been doing my own gel nails for years now, it's so easy I don't understand why women spend so much money on it in salons. I buy 2$ polishes from Aliexpress which work just as great as the expensive ones in the regular stores and got myself a 20$ second hand led lamp and thats it.
It’s most likely because there aren’t many educational videos on nails. When there is, as a person who used to search how to do my nails, I didn’t know what Primer or Dehydrater were for, I just thought it was an extra step to just feel fancy lol
I got my first polygel set and got 1 hand done today. It was MUCH less disastrous than my attempts at acrylic. And my mom has been throwing hints that my nail guy I hooked her up with is shut down....which means....I will be taking his place for the foreseeable future. I got the Blue makartt set and I love it!
As a training nail tech she really got me when she just threw the drill to the side [edit] um nvm this whole video made me cringe. Love u lindy thank u for entertaining us even at the cost of ur nails and hair
Idk why polygel didn’t work for me 😢 so I bought some clear coffin full tips from amazon and I use poly gel to stick the covers to my nails and so far they look great 🤗
When you’re a rock climber and quarantine is the only opportunity to make your nails look cute without the risk of ruining it a few hours after painting them xD
You uploading videos twice this week is the best thing that happened to me this month so far 😍 I've said it before but can't help not saying it again : you are my favourite human on earth and you manage to make me happy even through videos.. I'd looooove to have you as a friend in my life🥰💘
I'm wasting press-ons and they look pretty respectable. The key is to get plain ones and paint yourself. Makes them look more real. And scuff up the inside before sticking helps them grip
If it hurts you’re not cutting your cuticle you’re cutting your proximal nail fold which should not be cut! The thing you cut is a clear layer that is directly on the nail bed that you can barely see until you soften them and push them up.
We Stan a beauty guru queen. BUT. The thought that went into this video was exquisite, although the execution was COMPLETELY wrong😂. Cuticle cutters aren’t for gently clipping the top of the cuticle off, so that it doesn’t reattach to the nail bed. In no way should it hurt. You should only file your nails one way, not back and forth. Because that’s how you damage your nails, and us nail biters have enough problems as is. When applying poly gel, treat it like a genitalia, give it effort and time to make it perfect and ready for action. Make sure it’s free of holes, and that it’s generally even as far as thick to thin goes. We also Stan a nail care queen😂❤️
Did you remove the sticky layer of the base coat? And please leave a tiny margin between your polygel nail and where your cuticle begins. First time I did polygel they fell off, too after a few days. It may also be that your nails are too oily...
If you want them to stay better and longer, pushing ur cuticles back all the way & removing all the dead skin from the nail bed will make them last a lot longer. Also filing all the shine off ur natural nail
Yassss when you have your nails done you look much better! I have very long red ones now and I'm afraid that I'll break them (I hope I won't hah). I would love to see the salon in which I make them is open next week because I have an appointment but I feel it won't be soo mehh .-.

That's right!
Yaaas please dont! (Another nailtech over here)
Also, please dont file your natural nails like that!😭 Just lightly buff them

You can fix the under part of your nails with the extra poly gel by using the nail drill with a skinny drill bit.
I started using poly gel half a year ago and I have a tip for you: the cuticle area should be as thin as possible :) this makes it look more natural and the out grow is not as visible .

I’m glad I’m not the only one who just rips their acrylics off their nails 😂. I have never got them removed properly I just bite them off 😬
My mom and I started doing gel nails like 4 years ago. At first it was very frustrating but after like half a year we basically became pros

with polygel, using dual forms will always give you a somewhat lumpy underside. the paper forms work better, personally
I get decent results by smoothing the underside with an alcohol soaked brush before baking
Did you wear a base coat under that neon green nail polish? Because a good base coat will prevent staining!
