Hi all! FYI I'll be making some adjustments to the DAV video schedule (thinking longer videos at a lower frequency), so things might be shaky in the next few days. I haven't hammered it all out yet but will update when I have something concrete!
Maevaris is primarily a character from the comics, but she's also been mentioned by Dorian as a friend and ally as well as appearing in his Trespasser epilogue image. 13:00 It's not like they have a sign saying "Shadow Dragons Here!" They have the public front of an ordinary shop, and a hidden hideout in the back. They can't be completely inaccessible, there needs to be a way for people in need to be able to reach them. 31:15 The Shadow Dragons aren't going to be particularly hateful towards Qunari. They are willing to work with Qunari given that Rook can be a Qunari Shadow Dragon and there's a Qunari working in their shopfront. Tevinter may be at war with the Qun, but people in Minrathous are pretty far removed from the war. The Qunari in the city are all going to be those that aren't part of the Qun, or captured slaves (that may have in turn been freed by the Shadow Dragons). 1:16:14 There was a war table operation in Inquisition that involved strange chalk markings and end with receiving a message signed "On behalf of powers across the sea, The Executors", as well as a small appearance in the Tevinter Nights book. There's very little the people of Thedas know about what lies across the sea.
Remember the 'good' old days when you'd pick a skill and were married to it? I really like this modern trend of being able to re-spec any time. Love that necrotic tornado you got going. Wished I had taken it on my rogue playthru.
The companion outings are some of my favorite side quests. They really help you connect with the cast (which is prob my favorite part of the game so far). I can't wait til you get the whole cast together, I'm so intrigued to see your reactions to stuff that happens then.
Thanks for the daily uploads, Welonz. You’re a real g. (I’m not saying I expect daily uploads or anything, I imagine you have a life and a job, I just appreciate the frequent uploads)
The targeting system is activated when you press L3 I think. I ended up pressing this accidentally a bunch during my playthrough, but once I realized what was happening, it became a lot easier to work with.
I agree about the tonal dissonance at this point in the game, like the game wants to be something else but the plot engine built up over the last three games won’t let it.
31:13 I'm not gonna stand on a hill and say the reactivity here is great but I do think the writers came at this game with alot of expaned universe material in mind which does imo paint alot of Northern Thedas as multicultural, even though ironically this game is very newcomer friendly there are things that imo aren't older DA fan friendly and expect you to just roll with. The Antaam breaking away from the Qun is another example I feel of something that if you're a new DA player means nothing but if you've been around since Origins this kinda big thing happening behind the scenes is pretty shocking and you expect more from it. I also just want to say just in case my comment is interpreted in the wrong way, NONE of this stuff botherd me, I didn't have a problem with it nor do I think it's a big deal but I respect and understand if some people were disappointed, I think there's room for multiple opinions on how Bioware handled this.
nah, qunari just doesn't have as much lines same with certain factions if you want to most lines, you go elf lords of fortune (my first faction aw) apparently has the least and mourn watch is one of the most human and elf are always the most played so that's likely why they wanted more specific options for elf (and due to the nature of this game, which is why i chose an elf again) so yes, they do have a lot more lines based on what you pick, you just picked the race with one of the least :/
I get that from a game dev standpoint however not so much from a immersive roleplaying (and worldbuilding) perspective. If you allow players to choose their race and faction then it would make sense, storywise, if certain characters acknowledge your heritage or address biases or prejudices. Obviously not all the time but at least on topical/relevant matters, like the Qunari occupying Antiva. Such personal flavor lines add up imo. So I get what Welonz is saying...

5:27 does anyone got chills when Welonz's voice got double? 😨
oops, editing mistake 😂
@Welonz phew I thought the fade got you for a second 😅
12:53 That's just the shop front to look like a legit business, the sliding door you came from was a fake wall.
The similarity to Kirkwall makes sense given it was originally a Tevinter settlement before the empire receded and the Free Marches assumed ownership.

She’s also Varric’s in-law and Bioware’s first trans character, even before Krem, she’s awesome!

Viper’s voice (Matt Mercer) 🥵
Surely Fenris would have been part of the Shadow Dragons, well maybe not because he is a mage hater.

Going to mission, regions through crossroad triggers one additional banter in crossroad.

42:13 LMAO Lucanis dialogue timing🤣
i think there was supposed to be dialogue about the cat but if you look at the charcoal drawing first the dialogue doesn’t happen
is welonz gonna play indiana jones
