What would you suggest if you walk into a company with a messy GTM n GA4 tracking. How do you audit it, clean the data to basic tracking or do you create a new data stream or use 3rd party ?
Starting with an audit is the right way to go because you will know exactly what you're working with in regard to their setup. The best tool for auditing both GA4 and GTM simultaneously would be Observepoint which you can see here: bit.ly/3toV6Ej I would always try to clean up the current GA account rather than create a new one as all the historical would be lost. I recommend this approach if the account is salvageable.

As of September 2023 Google retired the GA4 Configuration Tag. It's now called Google Tag. Icon is blue but the tag ID works the same.
