    Was clueless looking through hours of my teacher's PowerPoint. This video was very informative and straight to the point. Thanks a lot

    Determinants are very straight simple, no wonder why it’s 1st taught in precalculus, I’m starting high school this year

    Couldn't you simply find the value of Y with subsituting value of X in any of the 2 equaitons? Why go to the lengthy process of calculating the det ?

    • @MichelvanBiezen
      @MichelvanBiezen  3 года назад +4

      There are at least 7 different methods by which you can solve simultaneous equations. With simple cases like this it is of course easier to use substitution or elimination, but using matrices or determinants have other practical uses, especially when there are more variables and with computer applications.

      @chrisjanson7237 2 года назад

      yes. It's just that when you now go to three equations & three unknowns....uh oh; the determinants are sort of easier.

    can I use this method to find the intersection between 2 vectors?

    • @MichelvanBiezen
      @MichelvanBiezen  2 года назад +1

      Vectors have magnitude and direction, BUT vectors can be moved around (while keeping their magnitude and direction), so we cannot apply the concept of intersecting vectors like we do intersecting lines.
