I'm gonna be thumbnailing new pages for my comic next month and thought I'd start posting on both Tapas and Webtoon instead of just Tapas- so this is extremely helpful advice- thank you so much for sharing 💕
I've got a webcomic on Webtoons and my weird advice is to "Practice giving yourself room to love your own art". Like every 20 episodes, I think I've made the best looking piece yet, only to make my next try have this extra pressure on. But really, I get better each time in areas I hadn't even noticed to the point where it's not so much my art that's improvement, it's my standard for improving over a longer period of time that gets better. I'm so glad I started.
The whole rant about not having notifications is SO RELATABLE I only started my comic last year so I didn’t have to worry about not having scheduling but yes scheduling is soo helpful!
When you said "Hi ya peeps" It sounded like "Hi ya Pete" which is my name. After this cognitive dissonant moment from the Twilight Zone I found your video very interesting. Thank you. I am a screenwriter and artist. In process of turning one of my screenplay's into a webtoon. You have a new subscriber. 😘
I have to say. I ADORE your new sprites! They’re adorable! Thanks for these tips! I’ll definitely use them when continuing my comic and working on future ones!
Nice return Fiona and your new video is really helpful. I try to make a one-shot comic (traditional) but im always down and not really that focus, but i never give up. I'm glad that there youtube channels, including you, that help people about art and comics!!!
When you said for readers its amazing… I ended up breaking my phone, so i got a new one a few weeks later and i logged into my account. And none of my episodes were saved so unless i was 100% up to date i couldn’t remember what episode number i was on out of the hundreds on the WEBTOON. If i signed in to save my progress why doesn’t it save what episode/chapter i’m on and not just the comics i’m reading. Idk if they fixed this yet, but it was really annoying.
Honestly I really wanna work on a webcomic with someone but it takes me forever to draw just one picture so I wanted to storyboard while someone else draws. I think that I kinda have a very specific art style that I love after doing a few pieces but even when I find the energy to draw, it can take a lot out of me when I have no motivation. Not to mention when I sit down to draw it never works out. If I start doodling on a napkin or a random piece of paper it suddenly turns into something im really proud of...
Dayum! I am loving the animation! Especially the finger tapping. I don't think I could ever make a comic, don't have the patience for it haha. I don't know what my deal is but I can't keep drawing the same characters over and over. I just get bored or frustrated and end up getting distracted. Nevertheless I found this very enjoyable! You make some great content!
Comics are hard my dude, the only reason i keep going with it rly is bc they're all i have in place of a personality so im just gonna keep going lmao And thank you! Glad you like it!
To add to your point about Manga and comics, if you look at the first one shots pitches of famous Manga (AoT, OPM, Naruto, One Piece) they are pretty bad artwise. Like really skribbly and not much focus on anatomy and more focused on drama and the story. I think that's the style people should compare themselves with and not actual Published Manga.
Love the video, Inspired me to actually do a more updated video on my process 😁 I would definitely echo the same sentiments with regards to making a webcomic as well as creating maybe a short story or doing a small project to gauge the amount of work is needed as well as find a simplistic art style, I usually recommend a animation based art style cause though are usually the simplest as will as they are fast to produce when doing multiple frames or panels, keep up the great work and stay awesome ✌
Your new stills and transitions between the sections are so cute, and I love how drawing in the speedpaint turned out! Thanks for the advice in this video, I want to get into comics so it'll help a lot :)
I have done a comics course at a university level, so I'm not sure where I sit with 'not drawing your big story first' as I already have a LOT of practice with that kind of thing (I actually got in trouble for making too many pages in a week's time period, they wanted 5 and I easily managed 13)... That being said I'm unfamiliar with how to format for a webtoon so...?
If you dont have any short story ideas, you can also do a nonsense comic. Slice of life is good genre to try literally anything. I have a very simple slice of life about Catboys mainly because they are very easy for me to draw but the webtoon is more for practice
Readers : WE WANT MORE CONTENT
Also readers: um is that a 3D background? that's cheating!!
Ok but seriously ASGJDV

I have to say I am always glad to hear someone else call people "Peeps" haha, love the stills! I didn't expect the mouth to be moving and stuff!

The sprites and the cutaways are such a nice addition to the video!

The Ava's demon part is so real

As a comic creator and reader
Sometimes I take many minutes and just
Stare
At the art of the comic 💀
For the entire video, I was watching that strand of hair poking through her right eyelash and waiting for you to fix it. Aaaargh!
I update once a month, for good reason. It's a hard process,
