Great video! It is worth noting that while this truck may share a similar price tag, it is NOT meant to compete head-to-head with a Raptor. They are two different trucks (albeit both badass), designed for two different customers and two different uses. This truck has front and rear lockers, a real payload and AEV enhancements designed specifically for more technical off-road situations/overland travel: stamped steel (winch-ready) front bumper, (5) hot-stamped boron steel skids, stamped steel rear bumper, etc.
Does the sierra AT4x AEV edition really only have 1000lbs of payload? My Colorado bison has 995 I was hoping this had more.

Nice...but seriously, looking at the AEV package in detail, it's way too much money for what you receive.
But might be worth the addition of a factory warranty on that configuration
They didn't even have a bed cover or racks
I always said the same thing about the black widow packages but atleast with black widow you get a lift

If this had the 3.0 duramax this truck would be a dream come true

I think for 2024 there are putting the 3.0 on these and the zr2 silverados

I’m on my 2nd trailboss, currently a loaded out 2023, 6.2ltr with all the options sticker was $73k sold it to me for 65k, no dealer adds but window tint for $100. Now I like the gmc, the AEV add is a joke $9k, no lift, no bigger tires,no diff upgrade, no winch.. it’s all show no go. It’s a hard pass for me, I’ll look at the 2025 maybe
This is much more classy than the Raptor and the TRX. Its for a different crowd although it looks like its still plenty capable off road. For $70k its a buy.
This is an outstanding truck. But I would love to know what this is going to be worth in about 3 years from now compared to my 2022 Raptor with 35s and 801A. I just feel like the Raptors are bulletproof from a depreciation standpoint. Anyone else agree?
AEV looks much better than the standard X! With the standard X this year you still get the AEV front bumper but that’s it, and it matches nothing else in the truck. At least with the AEV both bumpers are painted the same color. 90k that’s a steep price though! Couple months from now bet they will be discounting them.
Over $90 grand for bumpers crazy. This a $68 to $74,000 truck all day

I doubt they will work while vehicle is moving. Pretty sure that's illegal.
It should be noted that the “protection” (I.e. “rock sliders”) aren’t bolted to the frame, I believe. So, they are more for show and will do literally nothing to “protect” your truck during a real rock crawling scenario.

1290lb payload doesn’t get you much for “Overlanding” when you start adding people, food, water, gear, rooftop tent, etc, etc.
I dig the interior and how the screen is embedded in the dashboard

As someone who owns a raptor, still not convinced this Gmc is even in the same league
Just recently got a used 22 ZR2. I do prefer the interior stitching color on this truck, not sure why Chevy did the yellow on the ZR2, but other than that, not really "better". The AEV front bumper is cool but still I prefer the stying of the grill on the Chevy ZR2, honestly I think it's the best looking grill and light design available bar none. I also HATE the square wheel wells on the GMC Sierra in general. Today I saw an ad for this truck locally for sale.. $90k. Not sure AEV added $15k to the valuation..
35's wont fit without rubbing, not sure if cutting plastic will work, I got 34 on my 19' at4, and they rub slightly. Tire guy saying these are same.

They need to make a Yukon version of this with supercruise
$90k and requires premium gas. Certainly won't be a daily driver! Nice truck but to expensive for what it is.

I traded in my 22 Sierra Denali ultimate launch edition that had super cruise and all the options for a bmw x5M competition. I did not like the android system with the low end processor that took 45 seconds to over a minute to load up google maps. My bmw takes 10 seconds to do the same thing. I don’t hate gmc and never had a problem with the truck and was nice but not as nice as my Beamer.

This obviously competing vs the tremor and rebel but yes price wise this worth buying if you not racing off road and use it to bog on the Alaskan tundra or Mississippi clay.
For a purpose built high speed off-reader the Raptor still wins. However, comfort and feature wise, a GM is a bit nicer thanks to the engine options.

@@longacre1041 if your referring to straight 0-60 times with the engines technically the high output 3.5 eco that comes standard on the raptor has more power and the truck weighs less with the aluminum body panels so it’s quicker, I would make an argument too with the fox suspension the raptor has as well for high speed running purposes it’s the better choice however for looks and creature comforts in the cab it’s a personally choice between the two of them for each of us

I just can't get over the shape of the wheel wells/fender openings. If they looked more like the 2500's I think I'd like it more. That and the ridiculous price. Just not worth it to me for that price.
My thought exactly. It seems those wheel well limit the size of rims and tires you can put on it.

@@BenHardyCars thank you! It would be really awesome for truck reviews to add a close up of the door jamb payload sticker since it can vary based on options. This really helps for new trucks since the mfg claim the max numbers which usually represent stripped down base models.
Bummer they make it “High clearance” then put the suspension right in the middle still ruining that clearance”
It's crazy that 90k+ is the norm for trucks now.
Only for high trims. 60k seems to be the magic number for average buyers. Which is still very high.

The only problem is that engine is ancient only 420hsp and 460 trq from a 6.2 liter ..I think that engine has been around from 2007......Not Good Enough ..It should be making somewhere around 550hsp and 640 trq ...Just saying
Tht is not the aev edition doesn't have the tow hook on front they don't come out till fall 2023

Of course you are comparing this to a Raptor... You can't do a review without contrasting everything to the Raptor. You could be reviewing a 1973 Buick Regal and would constantly bring up how it compares to the Raptor. Video title: *Is Your Grandfather's Buick Regal Better Than a Raptor?" The AT4X and ZR2 aren't Raptor competitors! AEV didn't put any desert running mods on this AT4X. They made it better for technical trail use.

@@longacre1041 raptor has more ground clearance, more suspension travel, more torque, more horsepower, strengthened frame, 5- link coil suspension, torson diff, better approach and departure angles. Did I miss anything? Oh no class action lawsuit for pending lifters and pushrods.
I like the at4x alot but its not a raptor. At 90k, I'd rather buy a tremor for 70k and put 10k into upgrades.
