I’d say mercury struggles in sagittarius because it isn’t the most harmonious with listening/taking in information as opposed to giving away information, it can also be quite direct and not really think before it speaks, which is another dissonance I notice in general with fire mercury signs but the most with sagittarius. It can be preachy but not really always as good at listening or dealing with practical and intellectual stuff, but rather spiritually inclined. They’re not as focused on the details, small things can easily slip by them, not as perfectionistic and detail oriented, but I admire their ability to see the big picture for what it is instead of the tiny miniscule mistake on it, or even seeing it as a sign of authenticity. I admire the rawness of fire mercuries in general, but especially sagittarius mercury, no one will tell you the truth the same way a sagittarius mercury will and in a way that’s very much needed. I don’t think it’s at all a bad placement, but it represents the opposite values of gemini which is at home/domicile in mercury. So naturally, mercurial themes don’t come to the native as easily, but it doesn’t mean it’s impossible. I have venus and jupiter in detriment, so I get this very well😅

Mercury's dignity swing is very mild and balanced, as is everything about the planet. The detriment shows many in the over-duality, which I tried to bring to light towards the end of the discussion.
