My favorite is the one from my Eva crown series, which reflects the nature of the tarot cards of tarot reading. Like the lead god being the world, and the most evil being the devil, as well as the literal embodiment of death and undeath being the death card. All cards hold a faction that each character is aligned with and each god interacts with the world in unique ways, like the outer gods in Elden ring. The only similarities between the gods is the fact that they are powerful, but all are bound to their own natures which contradicts one another leading to conflict. As a result many gods are either plotting against another god or have already conquered them and beaten them down to near nothing until they are a shell of themselves, making each faction different as well

I'm a Christian so it's not gonna be that hard on my religion but on the other hand on the Islam part... *Sigh* it will be difficult. I know Islam is one of the strictest one in terms of putting on a story or in any form like I don't wanna be that one author who wrote a book that disrespect the religion and caused a lot of Muslims go in a manhunt to kill him or anyone involved. I'll just consult to my Muslim friends and do research on it.

      I mean to be fair, you're not obligated to respect anyone's religion. There are plenty of books that make fun of religions in a honest and truthful way. I mean, even Sekiro (a video game) takes Buddhism in a really cool direction. It's all about how you approach it and what your goal is with the religions in your story.

    I recommend that if you’re referencing a real living/reconstructed tradition, as long as you’re not writing stuff from a closed tradition, things that require initiation, or could have adverse consequences if practiced incorrectly, go for it. It’s important you refer to people who have experience with the traditions. It’s also important to reference deities, teachers, and spirits appropriately, especially if they’re from a marginalized community.

    I personal find your first reason incredibly lazy. Like, what's the point of writing if you aren't coming up with the ideas? Like "the work is done for you" isn't a good reason to do it. The work is why you write...its it's own joy. It's the purpose of why people do this. Might as well get GPT to do it if you don't want to do it yourself, cause at that level it's a grift. Might as treat it as one. Second reason is...purely marketing. And, not a good marketing. As people avoid stories about existing religions who actually respect them...because they find it offensive. Especially if they practice a religion. Only dead religions get this sense of coolness from having new stories written about them.
    I think the only good reasons to make a story about a real religion or myth is
    1- You enjoy those storiess and want to make stories about them.
    2- You have commentary on those subjects. You have a message to discuss and you need to include these subjects to do it.
    You should always be tactful, even if your opinion is one of full denial. There is no place for hateful stories or stories that are careless even if they don't intent to be hateful.
    People should write on anything...but also be fully aware of the gravity of it.

    • @inspired.author
      @inspired.author  Год назад +5

      The first reason is lazy! But you have to take something that is also existing and turn it into something original! The bare-bones are there for you to take - but that's the case for most story-telling. Most stories are inspired by other stories.

    • @Liz-with-a-smile
      @Liz-with-a-smile Год назад

      @@inspired.author I suppose for some people that's the case. I personally find that good stories are informed by reality and experience not second hand story retelling. For example, something significant in ones life turned into a metaphor or even a fictionalization can be extremely powerful, and far more meaningful then taking inspiration from a story you only witnessed as someone else's story. Religious experiences as stories, if they are ones own experiences, can be hyper powerful, as can just daily life and those moments shared among many, left unspoken but very much so noticed. You can transfigured a thought or feeling into an entire plot, into a power system, or even a world. Originality is far from dead, but many fail to practice anything but inspiration out of the false belief it's the last source of thought.
