A disgustingly divisive and antagonistic bit of policy. Sowing the seeds of division in the interests of publicity. Utterly reprehensible.

These are very noble words Ms Ratnam. Now you are on big money having been elected into the Victorian Parliament, may I suggest you invest some money into a property in Wilcannia and rent it to some of our hard done by Indigenous. Instead of talking about changing the date, what is of bigger national concern is the average life expectancy of an indigenous male in Wilcannia is 37, and 43 for females: www.theguardian.com/australia-news/ng-interactive/2016/jan/26/life-beyond-the-gap-wilcannias-indigenous-community-on-the-eve-of-australia-day If you don't know where Wilcannia is, it is the town on the Darling River mid way between Broken Hill and Cobar. I suspect you are quite insulated from Aboriginal issues have gone to secondary school in Mitcham and living in Brunswick. In the 2016 census, 0.5% of Melbourne's population was Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (24,064 of 4,485,211). By contrast 29.7% of the Northern Territory population is Indigenous. Tony Abbott whilst Prime Minister used to spend a week in a remote Aboriginial community. I think it would be extremely progressive for you to hang out with the locals in Wilcannia for a week. What I also recommend is building a granny flat in your Brunswick backyard to house and financially support the refugees you welcome. Ms Ratnam, you say a lot of nice things. Acting on these recommendations would highlight that you yourself are not the hypocrite. The Greens have plenty ideas of how money should be spent. Given the passion the Greens have on our Indigenous and Refugees, it would be extremely progressive if your Greens followers were able to provide an extra financial contribution to fund these noble ideas.
