There’s no way I will take to children to Ghana whiles am overseas, I want my eyes on them if I can’t train my kids well then no one will do that for me, if u want ur kids to visit ur country u must have a vacation for that may be once in 1 or 2 years it depends on how u want to arrange it, most of them bring down there children here because they want more time for themselves and their work no responsible parents will be alive and still want someone to take care of their children my opinion though 😂😂🤣 no hard feelings.

Anecdotes nkooa. Why will u leave the responsibility of raising your children to another person in Ghana. I have 2 grown adult children (48 & 47) who grew up in America. They have turned out right. It depends on one’s perspective as a parent. U mold your child the way u envision them to be in future.

But why should the kids leave their parents? We Ghanaians make that mistake all the time. Separation anxiety, depression and the harsh environment will be alien to them, especially dumsor. Lights never go out in America unless there is a force majeure. I think kids have the right to stay with their parents and no one else. Period.

Life is a choice. Many people have different reasons why they like to raise their children in abroad or Ghana, retire in abroad or do things differently. We should choose what best for us and leave people alone. What work for Mr. A won't work for Mr. B. The consequences of these choices is individual affair.

I came to the US when I was high school. It was such a struggle adapting to their way of learning. If you ask me, I don’t think its advisable to have your kids finish high school in Ghana. We have the perception that Ghana school are better but let me tell you it’s a lie! I noticed how learning here in the US was more practical. Things like watching movies in class for learning purposes was soo foreign to me but it made soo much sense. I realized ghana school was just struggle learning for no reason. I get that he wants his to acquire Ghana sense of identity but you can equally achieve that by having regular prolonged visits. That’s what I plan on doing.

The last advice he gave is the gospel truth. It happened to me. My dad was just supposed to get me a US passport because I was only 2 when he became a US citizen. So I came with a green card. Not until it was time for college and my friend told me I literally could just go the post office with my dad and they’ll process my US passport. We did that and two weeks later, my American passport had arrived in the mail. I still had that green card lol. But I got rid of it eventually.

I like some of the things he said. He gave a lot of information about retirement . On the other hand, I think in my opinion no one can raise your kids better than you the parent if only you don’t chase money and have time for them. Having education here is far better than in Ghana. In Ghana they don’t have all the teaching materials for the kids to learn and understand better.
When you talk about good morals and character I believe it’s all depends on both parents what you teach them because the parents are their first teacher.❤️🙏

It is not the guys fault. The women when they get abroad prefer life here permanently to the African cultural ways so they will not have their children return to settle in Ghana for good. You are lucky your wife allows you to relocate your kids to Ghana when you are ready to. Most women will not endorse the move of the kids to Ghana and you need their okay to do so.

Many at times those moves dont work out. I took my son to Ghana and after sometime the system back home couldnt affect him in anyway.Parental supervision is less since we were not there, Grandparents or other family cant affect that much change in them. No matter how long you leave them there, the least chance they get they will gladly fly back to their country of birth without thinking twice.

Please Ghanaians abroad hear me out, don't depend only social security for retirement. If your employer has 401k or 403b, take advantage of it. Max out your contributions. Also, invest in index funds whilst you're young and energetic working. If you're able to do this consistently for years, you'll be able to retire earlier and live very comfortably in the US or anywhere in the world. Ghanaians, please educate yourselves with financial independence wae. Ah, How i wish to be interviewed.

They way some Ghanaians in US talk against Ghana really bores me.If you have nothing positive to say keep quiet. You can't bite the hand that fed you .There is not much difference between Ghanaians and Americans. We are even more hardworking .The only difference is our leaders refuse to think and also America is able to send its printed money to the world so there is not much inflation in the US ie There is not too much money in circulation in the country. If we were hypothetically in the same position maybe we could also do better. There interest rate is also very low so you could start a business as soon as you have an idea.

As a parent it’s your duty to make certain decisions for your child, until the kids are old enough to make their own decisions.

You don’t live in Ghana so how can you live big in Ghana? You work and live here so if you build back home whilst you are here, family members will take over that property and live big for you, you work and buy a home here, make life comfortable for yourself here, before you build home for your pension.

My last baby who is even in kindergarten amazes me every day with her level of intelligence. Just walk into the classroom of American schools and you'll be sad of what we have in Ghana. Yes we all have our American passports and visit Ghana anytime we want. This man is living backwards. Anyways, to each his own.

Kids born in Ghana who later come abroad usually succeed and reach higher heights than those who lived abroad all their lives. The President of Bank of America is a Ghanaian who has secondary education in Ghana. We can talk of the likes of Prof. Ollenu, Ave Kludze, Thomas Mensa etc. All of these great minds had secondary education in Ghana. What is intelligence? Is it the ability to speak English? We need to re-educate our minds as Africans.

    • @hubertbaidoo6517

I have studied abroad and have mates from all over the world. No human being is special. Not Asians, not Americans, not Europeans. We're all the same. It's just a matter of opportunities. I challenge you to put your intelligent kid in the same class with Ghanaians and test them on anything. Just anything. Ghanaian kids just don't have opportunities. When I was 3years old, I could write paragraphs of essays. Same as my little brother. We were all born and bred in Ghana. Bad parents who are not exposed think that ipads, tablets and games are what make a child intelligent.

In Ghana where when the skies are cloudy, automatically teachers don't go to school. You really think this does not affect the kids. I would just say you don't know what you're talking about. Ghana education system is a complete joke. Travel and see, or simple drown in your ignorance or foolishness whatever it is.
