    Lyrics
    Another head hangs lowly
    Child is slowly taken
And the violence caused such silence
    Who are we mistaken?
But you see, it's not me, it's not my family
In your head, in your head they are fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs, and their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head they are crying
In your head, in your head
    Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What's in your head? In your head?
    Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie-ie, oh
    Another mother's breaking
    Heart is taking over
    When the violence causes silence
    We must be mistaken
It's the same old theme, since nineteen-sixteen
In your head, in your head they're still fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs, and their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head they are dying
In your head, in your head
    Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What's in your head? In your head?
    Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie-ie, oh
    Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, eh-eh-oh, ra-ra

For those who haven't caught on, this alternate version is a radio edit that has been shortened by cutting out the instrumental ending. The scenes belonging to the ending have been interspersed among the rest of the song, making it a messy patchwork. Definitely go to the original if you can spare 56 seconds!

As a little kid I remember watching this, in the north of Ireland, well, hearing it as we didn't have satellite tv, but the message was pure then, in the lyrics I mean. She was an Irish hero of her time, (still is), with a prophetic voice of youth, talking what young ppl could hear the purest. I understand how hard it was for older generations to move on and let go. That's why we need every young generation, to blow a breath of fresh air into the adult way of the world. That's what God does. Isn't it like a cosmic game. Amen.

I love how her dialect bleeds through her vocals. It really helps the audience connect with the artist a little more.. like we hear the person who sometimes talks in casual conversation too, not just the superstar. Celtic heritage can also be quite a mystifying topic so I'm eternally grateful to have Dolores O’Riordan's angelic pipes to perpetually enlighten and inspire me. Love the message here which can transcend universally. I mean when a mother's heart is broken because her child died as collateral to urban socio-economic/geo-political disagreements, "we must be mistaken"

It's performed by children who have not lived or had enough experiences to express genuine emotions into their music. Also the music they perform is almost always not even written by them. When they do play live the vocals are almost always not even live. Today's music sucks !!! Those that like it are just preprogrammed sycophants with no intelligent thought processes.

When I was a child I loved to sing this song, even though I couldn't understand a single word. This is the perfect example of the power of music...even when you don't understand anything you can love a song because of the music, the voice and the way of singing. Now that I understand the words and the meaning of them it's not just a song that I love, it's right there in the Olympus with the untouchables, an evergreen that will never die despite the tragedy. After all these years still gives me goosebumps
