One day, when I was older, I picked the game back up, started it over for the full experience, and even though I could beat Mashtooth easily, it felt just as epic as when I was a kid due to all the buildup.
Legitimately one of the most ridiculous button mashing challenges I have seen in ANY video game. The sheer speed needed to pass that last bit is absolutely fucking nuts to the point where my friend had to have me do it because I was able to mash the button faster than he was. Amazing game
old man lobber is the only boss in the entire game to have actually made me die several times in a row then once i beat him i thought he had a 2nd phase or smth and i accepted his rematch then died leaving the level show as uncleared on the map so i had to go back in and fight him yet again
Here's a tip that helped me beat Mashtooth: When your finger gets tired, pause for a couple minutes, then get back to mashing y, rinse and repeat, and you'll hopefully beat Mashtooth :)

I had this game for over three years before I beat Mashtooth. I'm ashamed at the idea that I beat One Finger Death Punch in less time compared to frickin Starfy. I can say without a doubt that this game has some of the hardest ending levels I've ever born witness to, because I still haven't beaten all of the time trials, let alone the boss trial. BTW , if you stragglers want a tip... ... try using your index finger, you'll get the technique eventually.

You know, I've beaten this game 7 times. Each time was 100% too. My first playthrough was utter hell because of this fight. It took me a month and a half just to beat. Now, it's a breeze, and I can mash buttons like a fucking pro. Even though it got pretty difficult towards the end, this is still my favorite Nintendo DS game. We love you Starfy. Thank you for hours of fun, and many broken DS consoles.
My thumb actually blistered because I pressed the "Y" button too fast AND too many times... Edit: It's 2023 and I've realized something. This game taught me how to properly button mash. My blistered thumbs thank it. xD

The only way I beat this was by pausing after pressing the button a bunch of times and being able to rest. Otherwise, I dont't think I could've beaten this boss lmao

I had to switch hands a couple times. During the Boss Showdown the second part was what got me over the 8 minutes a couple times.

Also he goes SUPER and has the only deathstrike attack in the entire game. It took me 10 times to beat him. But after that he was a pushover for me.
