  • Hi everyone, today I'm making an Oak Bonsai using a sapling grown from an acorn around 6 years ago.
It's grown kinda funny and isn't really very interesting, so I want to introduce some really drastic bends to make it stand out more.
Hope you find todays video interesting.
    Thank you for watching.

"I'm determined not to spend too much money!" Best advice I was ever given when I first started Bonsia My friend told me don't what ever you do spend lots of money buying trees and stuff. 4 years later I have 100's of trees 100's of pots a Greenhouse and a shed and I have spent less than £300. Not including soil.

SWMBO has a few acorns sprouting that were from the garden over the way. Only last week I suggested to bonsai one or two. Thanks Kit once again for an interesting video.

Howdy Kit! The tree looks super nice. If that poor tree could talk there would be a lot of words like "ouch", "really, and "come on, man, I can'tbend anymore here!" 😄
You are going to have a cool collection of bonsai trees to past on to your kids.👍

Fearless! Keep experimenting. Your pre-bonsai will only get better with time: girth, bark and ramification.

Hi mate. Ah cool, I’m really new to the bonsai world but grown trees in pots for years & watched loads of videos. 🌳🌳

@@GrowWithKit I'm fairly new to all this too,I've always had an interest in bonsai since I was a kid,but never really had the time to sit and research until last may,I slipped a disc in my back and have been off work since,so plenty of time to research and play!
Obviously I went for what was readily available around me,conkers, acorns, maple seeds anything I could get my hands on,I've amassed quite a small collection of things now, mainly acers, yews and oaks.
It's all good fun and exciting especially this time of year,I look forward to working my way through your videos mate!!
      Keep growing

That's bizarre! The first oak you repotted is almost an exact replica to my first 8 year old oak that I was given, only much smaller

Thanks mate, sorry to hear about your back. I basically did the same thing we have a little wooded area that no longer has any saplings 😂 and I’ve picked up things from the clearance bays at garden centres, haven’t got a yew yet. Can’t wait for everything to get growing 😃. I just subscribed to your channel will have a look later at your videos.
      All the best 🌱🌳😊🌳🌱

How about cutting off the branch on the left? I think its taking from the drastic bend to the right by almost balancing it out and making the shape more tree like? ( I know absolutely nothing about bonsai 😅)

Hi Maureen, I did think about it but decided to leave it for now just incase I decide to change the shape later. Have you any interest in Bonsai?
