You're absolutely right, Pavlin! This autumn one young guy successfully rode from Moscow to Magadan. He finished his 2 month and 11 thousand km trip at 19th of October. The most weird thing is that this is his 1st riding season (he got his driving licence only in July) and his bike was a 700 euro 200cc used Chinese motorcycle!

Nice to see you have a new trip planned and you are taking your trust worthy Yamaha. Pavlin always great to hear and learn something new from you. Keeping in mind the distance you are about to cover I want to suggest to you to improve the locking/latch system of toolbox. I think it can fail due to constant rattling on bumpy roads. Simple Door Hasp Latch or Bolt type system would be much better. But that is just my advice. Stay safe. 👍

It is below, and behind you, so if you accidentally hit it, all your tools will spill out without anyone knowing.
My thoughts too. 1) have a great trip. 2) worry that the tool box clip might pop open with vibration. even if it's just a big paperclip through the locking loop. Carabiner? Safe travels, looking forward to your prep videos.

Any suggestions about the roads through Europe that you might have? I’ll appreciate your help. Thank you As always ride safely! Cheers
I didn’t realize the 660 was single cylinder. I love thumpers! I have the new Tenere and planning some long(ish) trips. A week not three months. I should find a way to carry tools as well but I don’t know how to make a box like yours. Did you hire a welder? A fabricator?
I always tell people that new cars and bikes are not more reliable than a well maintained old one. I ride a 32 year old bike, my reliable classic car is 86 years old, and my modern car is 29 years old. I am confident that any one of them will take me anywhere that a new car/bike will go. Although in the case of the 86 year old car it will take longer. Enjoy your trip Pavlin. I would rather your bike for the trip than a new large GS.
Hi Pavlin i went to my local Honda agency last week to trade my BMW F650GS in on an Africa Twin ZAR 200 000.00 ($ 12 928.00) - i then thought long and hard about it. i replaced a few items on my BMW and it is as good as New, except it has 152 000km on the clock. if i continue to look after it i should have it for another 5 - 6 years. i can then use the money to travel. my dad always taught me to keep it simple. Thank you for the advice
👍🏻 😄 🙏🏻 It will survive with ease... Why, believe me it's Yamaha they are reliable and strong. Simplicity and practicality it's all about it. Wish you luck 🤞🏻 and I hoop you will keep us posted with nice video's on the way.
....and of course Pavlin you know your bike inside and out but not the T700. you will have a better chance of knowing your capabilities and what may get damaged and how to avoid or repair your XT. but you know this I am sure. I will look forward to your preparations as I think that I have to do some essential maintenance on mine this winter and your videos might be instructive.
Lightness always wins the day that's the bike for the job. :-) Another simple tip to reduce weight, you don't have to take a reel of tape with you is to stick a bunch of insulation tape strips to the bottom of your seat then peel them off as you need them.
This is great news! I too am planning to ride to Magadan eventually, and look forward to seeing what route you end up taking and how things go. Tell me again, what was the Russian word for "...made terribly, but tough."? Great reference to the Kalashnikov by the way!
I completely agree. I travelled Europe on the cheapest and oldest bikes, like a Kawa GTR1000 with 125.000kms, an old and leaking st1100 with a broken cooling fan, and even an '86 Suzuki Cavalcade that was falling apart. I had fun on every trip, yes I sometimes had problems while traveling but it's those problems that made the best stories after years. I also went to the North Cape and Portugal on a brand new KTM 1290 Super Adventure, and yes it was great....but more fun than on the old crappy bikes? Nope.
Supercool project! Best of luck. I think your Ténéré is going to be fine, and that you are capable to handle any eventual technical problem, if something happens. As I have mentioned before, my 30 years old Honda NX650 have worked for many more both kilometers and years, with zero problems. It’ll work fine your Ténéré, it’s japanese! Not a Honda, but the second best. 😉
Woww!Beautiful Varna, looking forward to your next "round the block"trip,Magadan,no less...Let's hope this situation is over ASAP,anyway, greetings from sunny Valencia and take care,by the way,I miss your "ESPAÑA" hat...
It will make it, as you're the person who was looking after it - mileage is irrelevant - you can have a low mileage bike that never seen dirt roads but has been neglected and it will fall apart; had a BMW R1150GS before, not terrible mileage wise, but almost every bolt you wanted to undo you had to drill out - comparing to an older ST1100 which all came apart no problem after standing few years that was a shock. Love the AK47 comparison, I hope - I'm sure you will have a great trip. As for the destination - I think it's much more exciting than most of other 'popular' places. And another thing is, the trip is not so much about location, it's about the journey you make, the people you meet and contact with nature - as for the last bit, I don't think there are that many places where you can see life in the raw form as much as going through those regions... Just got myself a Transalp 700 (couldn't find the right Tenere and this was the closest match :) ), if I'll finally go on a longer trip this will be my destination too. Have a safe journey and see you soon!
Hi Pavlin, good luck on your ride. Can you please share your thoughts on why royal Enfield engines are not that reliable despite being very simple in construction.

As always ride safely!
Cheers
The route planing is something personal and depend from many things.
I didn’t realize the 660 was single cylinder. I love thumpers! I have the new Tenere and planning some long(ish) trips. A week not three months. I should find a way to carry tools as well but I don’t know how to make a box like yours. Did you hire a welder? A fabricator?
I did the cuts and paid for welder.
Thanks, Neale, this is exactly what I plan to do.
Wish you all the best. Ride safe
Thanks!
You are welcome anytime!
Keep regular oil change with clean oil, keeps revs low. You will make it
This is exactly what I plan to do.
Good luck for next magadan trip..
Thank you! 😃
👍🏻 😄 🙏🏻 It will survive with ease... Why, believe me it's Yamaha they are reliable and strong. Simplicity and practicality it's all about it.
Wish you luck 🤞🏻 and I hoop you will keep us posted with nice video's on the way.
Thanks, man!
....and of course Pavlin you know your bike inside and out but not the T700. you will have a better chance of knowing your capabilities and what may get damaged and how to avoid or repair your XT. but you know this I am sure. I will look forward to your preparations as I think that I have to do some essential maintenance on mine this winter and your videos might be instructive.
Thanks for taking the time Chris!
Oh man what an itinerary I’d love to do that🤘🇬🇧from England
Just do it!
Lightness always wins the day that's the bike for the job. :-) Another simple tip to reduce weight, you don't have to take a reel of tape with you is to stick a bunch of insulation tape strips to the bottom of your seat then peel them off as you need them.
Thanks for taking the time!
This is great news! I too am planning to ride to Magadan eventually, and look forward to seeing what route you end up taking and how things go. Tell me again, what was the Russian word for "...made terribly, but tough."? Great reference to the Kalashnikov by the way!
Сделано плохо но здорово!
@@motorcycleadventures That's fantastic! Thank you.
Magan is on my list too.
Are you gonna tackle the old summer road?
Will see
Also really looking forward to following your trip👍
More to come!
can't wait until next May to start your trip and watching it.
Can't wait to start riding!
@@motorcycleadventures it's the bird of liberty :)
Did u get the tool box made or did u make it urself? Looks superb. Seems like I will make panniers for my bike.
I made it just paid for welder.
Nope.
It sounds like a great adventure road less traveled totally agree
I cannot wait to start!
Best of luck with your trip! Be safe!
Thank you! Will do!
Fingers crossed!
Woww!Beautiful Varna, looking forward to your next "round the block"trip,Magadan,no less...Let's hope this situation is over ASAP,anyway, greetings from sunny Valencia and take care,by the way,I miss your "ESPAÑA" hat...
Thanks for taking the time Jorge!
Hi Pavlin that little bag attached to your passanger handle what brand is it I couldn't see it ?Thank u for your answear
Moto detail. I have it from many years.
have a nice trip
Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time and good luck on your future adventures!
I really like your tool box !!!
Cool!
Hi Pavlin, good luck on your ride. Can you please share your thoughts on why royal Enfield engines are not that reliable despite being very simple in construction.
I have a full video about it: ruclips.net/video/qcJ3TZhnbTQ/видео.html
I lolled out loud when i saw those swans enjoying those waves. First time i've seen swans going for a plodge in the sea lol. Beautiful.
Glad you enjoyed! They coming every winter. There is hot water there going into the sea, that's why.
