Awesome, I really enjoyed watching that. After watching that other YT dude putz around with an "abandoned" twin engine Cessna 401, it's nice to see someone actually accomplish some goals in a project like this. You're the one who should be getting millions of views.
There are two twin Cessna rebuild videos. Stop being a hater. If it’s aviation it’s for me.
@@superskullmaster You're right, there's two twin engine Cessna guys. One is actually rebuilding a plane, and is hugely entertaining. I wasn't referring to him. The other one appears to be involved in a grift.
Not a bad project to have!
This is exactly who you hope shows up to buy your old airplane. A young kid with stars in his eyes and a camera.
I remember when the AirBike came out! I built a Team Aircraft Max-103 from the company in Tennessee. almost finished it before I was nagged into selling it. I sold it to the uncle of a friend of mine here in SC. He'd probably sell it to you. It even has a Kawasaki 440 in the box, never been flown.
I've owned a Challenger II light sport since 2004. I've cleaned it with lemon pledge since day one. It's cheap, cleans well, even on the lexan windscreen. I clean my Pitts S2 with it as well. Get a box of industrial size cans...will last you forever. Smells good too. Great plane purchase man, you'll love it!
And it leaves a lemony fresh fragrance too...
Stoked you got another plane. The Airbike has always been a short list plane for me. I just bought Kitfox 5 bush gear from John Roberts. He told me flying ultralights was the most fun he'd had flying. Can't wait to see this thing fly
Yes!!!! I’m so ready for some flying footage again!
I have an idea. You can put your basic VFR minimums and then put an iPad in the centre of your panel. Then yuo can get a Garmin GLD 51 or similar to give you GPS and ADAHRS. Plus you can remove the iPad to do flight planning at home.
Even if it's old footage, it's very nice to see you flying yet again.
That looks like a whole lot of fun!!
Thanks for sharing!
Definitely looking for Capella videos!
the fact that it was so dirty and you cleaned it so well is a great way to know every nook and cranny of that plane.. great video Jonas!!
Test the fabric....Test the fabric....Test the fabric....Test the fabric....Test the fabric....Test the fabric....Test the fabric....Test the fabric! Cheers from Winnipeg.
Fabric would be on my list well before powder coat
Can’t wait to see the air bike in your new hangar next to your house.
LoL, I'm thinking, man, he should just strip it, blast it, and coat it. Just as that thought finishes, you say the exact same thing. Nice.
Super exciting!
about time man. So happy for you. get back in the air. sell merch. Save the air bike.
Almost bought one 2 years ago ! I had a huge crush on this airplane must a lot of fun to fly !
Would love an overall cost breakdown after this rebuild is done. This is something that would be in my price range 😂
thanks for askin for this it would be cool to see a lagit entry costs
It'll get you into the air again. I'm thinking about getting an ultralight. I want a Trike. Uses a beefed up hang glider wing.
I have a nice trike for cheap. In storage and 25 hours.
@@horacegardner3516 Send info and photos please. mobiltec@gmail.com
Hell YES! Just picked up an ultralight myself.
Jonas, it is a joy to see a new video from you. You are so enthusiastic you could make a video of grass growing and it would be fun to watch. Thanks.
Now THAT is awesome!
Nothing like it!!! Great edit!
Hey Jonas, this new plane looks funny to fly ! Hello from france...
Made my day Jonas, been looking forward to a video like this. Woo hoo 👍🏻💪🏻
Very cool...I recently purchased plans for an Affordaplane. Hope you're back in the air soon!
I got the plans last year, have been watching Jon at tipoftheweek, its very interesting. Will probably never build one, but I still have learned a lot. I should start socking money away for one.....
@@orbitalair2103 I'm waiting on a couple of doors to build my table...then I can start.
That really *does* look like fun!
Ho jonas! Glad to hear you again!
Oh yea you will have it flying in no time !!👍
Wood wings. Be careful. I worked with an engineer on metal wings for the Airbike and also did a CAD design which widened the fuselage so your legs could go inside.
Love the ‘get to it’ attitude with the new airplane! Great to see you wanting to get back in the air. Would love updates on the Capella, and Defiance.
Oh yea can’t wait for that. I had one about 15y ago. They are a blast.
Hey Jonas You could fly the Air bike while your fixing the Capella, and then Give it to Silvia (hopefully I spelled that right) So you two could fly together and separate some days. Just put a Helmet radio in it so you can talk while you fly together. I know she wasn't totally there yet when the crash happened. But she will be one day, like giving her her own car.
The Angry Dragon.......what crash? Oh dear, i must have missed that what happened?
@@okgo8315 Last October they wrecked the Capella, thats why its in pieces behind the Air bike. and Jonas has not really been in the air all winter. He has to rebuild it, and is taking the time to make the upgrades he wanted to turn it into a bush plane. The Airbike will at least get him flying again, and once he gets the capella fixed and then Gets Defiant built. He can let Silvia fly the capella after she has her License and the Airbike before.
Angry Dragon....thanks, i don't know how i missed such an important/unfortunate event but obviously glad they are both ok...cheers👍🇬🇧
@@okgo8315 never a problem, it was two videos, so it was easy to miss.
@@theangrydragon4746, you don't seem angry.
Near us us "The Happy Dragon" where my awesome wife and I went to eat for our anniversary. :)
Looks like loads of fun ! Bless ya ! Enjoy
Jonas watch Jimmys world will give you some good ideas! Great vlog!
Way cool brother… That looks like a real blast… I’ve always liked Air bikes!
Cool! Can't wait for you to be back in the air in your own plane.
Cool stuff Jonas!!! Good to see you play with planes again!!! Been missing you in the air!!!
Congratulations brother but as M Patey says Back to Work ………..looks like fun
Thanks Jonas. We missed you!
Nice! Those air bikes are some great little aircraft.
Awesome video, I am just glad that you got an airplane. Looking forward to more videos.
You beat me to everything!🙄 just, haha
WOOOOOOOHHHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! So nice to see airplane work again!!!!
I flew a 2 place Challenger with a Rotax 447, it performed quite well with two folks in it.
About time....all the best Jonas.
Awesome brother I have a airbike with a Kawasaki 440 on it love my airbike
I had a John Deere snowmobile in the very early 80's that had a 440 Kawasaki in it - great engine.
Congratulations Jonas, I'm looking forward to seeing you getting back in the air!
Looks like a total BLAST to fly!! Nice purchase!
You can actually get kits (fuselage, wing, and complete air frame kits), as well as plans, from Jordan Lake Aero for the 103, standard, & tandem Air-Bikes. I'm currently saving up for the complete 103 kit.
SWEET! New toy! I had forgotten about this model. I recall hearing about it when I first got into aviation, watched some vids on it, then got lost in all the other endless aviation vids out there. Looks like a ton of fun for summertime flying! Great visibility out of that! Nice score, Jonas! 👍👍🍻
yay!!!!! about time!!!! i want one. buy that arcade for your hanger too
Congratulations 👏🎉 you both deserve it. Now we can get more videos 😉.
That’s going to be fun! Can hardly wait to see it fixed up and flying.
Incredible!
I have a bridge (Brooklyn) and a boat (USS Neversink)You might be interested in CHEAP....
great work, flying yourself is a real attitude builder.👍
Nice!
I guess if you bought it, then it wasn't really "abandoned" lol. Jordan Lake Aero in Indiana is the current dealer for the Airbike. Those tundra tires are a really nice upgrade. 👌 I'm actually looking to buy one of these if I can sell my sweet little Yamaha sport bike. Happy flying!
Congratulations! I can feel your joy.
Very cool
It was good to see that you had real Foot brakes on your plane. Mind you braking that way could see you with an Indian name like "Broken Leg". Regards, Jim in NI UK
lol 😜
Congrats, Jonas. Now you own a real plane and an ultralight, just like me.........well, I own the ultralight, and my wife says the plane is at least half hers.
I flew an Airbike for several years (250 hours). One of the nicest flying planes ever.
I'm here for this! Would be cool to see this thing in new condition lol have fun!
I'm building an AirBike from plans. I stumbled across this video, you should totally tag AirBike and Jordan Lake Aero so folks know where to go to emulate you...
Good idea
I can so relate to that: bought an avid flyer barn find and really felt the urge just to clean it to see its beauty right after the purchase.. in my case it was mice rather than birds though ;)
Have fun with this additional project, airbikes seem so much fun!
Love it
You absolute mad lad. You've been one of my inspirations to get my license as a diabetic (which is doable btw!). Congrats on the new buy and thanks for your awesome vids! Fly safe!
Worth messing with! And I said that before learning about the Robert's connection.
This should be a blast to watch!
Nice work, good to see you getting airborne soon! Be interested on your observations of flying characteristics of a well loaded Tandem vs new Airbike when the time comes.
That is Super Cool. Get it some brakes though.
Looking forward to the follow ups on that Jonas. Great project.
👍
Love the simplicity I would fly it.
Congratulations.
When you say “don’t think I’m not giving up on that” it’s a double negative that means you’re actually giving up on that 😂
The two happiest days of an aircraft owner. 1st, the day you buy it. 2nd, day you sell it.
Wow Jonas! What a great story about your early air bike flying. $1500 for a flying experience that looks incredibly fun. I really enjoyed the video of you flying your first air bike. Now that’s flying! Happy for you man!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like a good time, enjoy! Be safe!
Look forward to seeing it fly. I would put a Polini 303 on it and call it good. 😎
That thing is awesome, I want one too!
My first plane was an airbike. Many great hours of fun. You should put a 503 on it.
What about your other killer bush plane you've been working on? Status please on the Capella and the Bush Plane. Love your flying videos.
About the Capella. I know you are in love with that plane and I think you are trying to make it a bush plane. From an old pilot, a mechanical engineer, and the owner of an XLS, an XLS Super 100 (2), and a Fastback, I highly recommend leaving your Capella ....... STOCK !!!!!!!!! From high school to college, my friends and I came across several unfinished Capella planes that we purchased cheap. We modified the crap out of them. We learned over 160 mph, the rudder needs to be larger (we made 185 mph with clipped wings and a turbo BMW motorcycle engine). We learned to achieve a stable slow flight, we needed to lengthen the wingspan by 18 inches. The Capella wing is for cruising, not for slow flight. We installed wings from a Just which worked better than the Capella wings. We installed a bush-style swing arm suspension with shocks and a sway bar. Finally, after twisting two fuselages from excessive power, bending another, and cracking (to failure) the fourth fuselage (bush trim), we left the remaining two planes stock. We kept them for several years and used them for cruising, while we used aircraft from Just, Piper, Rans, and a KitFox for backcountry flying. Please leave your Capella for cruising. The fuselage isn't made for bush-type abusive landings and the wings will stall on you again if you try to cheat with power for a super slow landing. Get a real bush plane .....again. Thanks and be safe.
For sure! It needs engine power to fly slow. I'll keep it stock for the most part.
I just want to get it flying so we have a plane to travel in and then I can get back to work on Defiance
I love it dude it's got that paramotor or powered glider vibe
Great to see another video Jonas!!! What an exciting project!
Dud! I wish I knew you were in the market! I just got a shinny new hart attack So now my Corbin Baby Ace is going up on the market , just needs skin and paint! 5k takes maybe some traid for that 447! I have a Trike that needs some power!
Dang! The 447 might be up for sale
@@JonasMarcinko dude I'm on the road now but let's talk, soon.
love your videos can't wait to see some more. very cool air plane will be very nice when you get done with it. can't wait and have fun....
Im in utah, and just sold my airbike.. didnt have enough wing area for this elevation. Also had a 503, so more power... Hope you have a better experience.
What do you weigh? Be honest....
@@portnuefflyer I'm 6'8" tall, 250lbs. Doesn't help much, but I have a hangar full of ultralights that I fly all the time. The airbike (single seat) has a wing area around 120 sqft, which isn't quite enough for higher elevation.
I'm not bagging on the airbike.. I've always loved them, I just hope he has better luck
I want one, awesome!
Did you get a 43-13? Take good pictures before you take it apart. Definitely replace the fabric just to be safe. Have you thought about powder coating the frame?
Labas Jonas! Great vid, as usual! Nice project except the bird poop would have slowed my decision to buy. Looking forward to the finished product. Take care, be safe…Aciu…
That looks like a blast.
Hello from Minnesota! Looks like a fun project!
Finally: an airplane video!
No breaks! No surprise there 😂
Jonas you and this little aircraft are going to make general avation grow by showing people that you don’t need to be independently wealthy to own an airplane.
Jumping out and crashing it was exactly what I was thinking. :-D :-D
My ONLY issue with the air bike is that your legs are outside the fuselage. It just gives me the willys lol. Sweet project!!!
