This video is very inspirational for me. Iv been a subcontracted groundworker for about 13 years. Iv always had a passion for sustainability, biodiversity, innovation, etc, and generally trying to make the world a better place. Iv always tried to influence and teach others good practices while at work (Although hard with groundworks as so little innovation and education has been made in my opinion) and someday hope to have a business which promotes these good practices. For the last 2 years iv been on a Barrat building site. The only thing they care about are deadlines and they will do anything to meet them (or beat them for a better bonus) cutting corners, wasting materials, no consideration for the environment. Iv become deflated about work. Trying to talk sense and reason to the site managers goes unheard. with even threats of loosing my job if i continued to "cause issues for deadlines". Im self employed but even i dont want to be looking for work this time of year. This video gave me back a bit of hope and passion. Maybe Things can change.
This is because of British feudalism. Out of the 60 million acres of inhabitable land on the British isles, 40 million are owned by erstwhile aristocratic feudal families...some 190k of them. This is according to Prof. Niall Fergusson's "The Ascent of Money."
In future, we need to build modular and portable housing. There are so many empty houses now because of market forces. People of the former USSR can just move here now in their thousands and thousands with no intention of returning. It's not sustainable. Freedom of movement is just another word for cheap labour.
"Right buy your own home " "paint your door" bullshit. Right to buy was introduced to creates more debtors. People were always able to buy a house in the UK but right to buy was the beginning of inflicting it on people. The other disaster was uncapped housing benefit. It has to be capped.
Our houses are ridiculously overpriced. Where do you think poverty comes from. It's rigged. The Gov't knew there would be a 4 million house shortfall by 2018. The Germans seem to be able to manage their housing plan without fucking it up. They laugh at us. They never sold off public housing and they know rising house prices are a giant red flag,a warning that there will be poverty generated by house prices and rents gone mad.
You were always allowed to buy a house in the Uk but unlike today it was not inflicted on people.How can a £7000 house now be a 275 000 hose in 40 years .Is inflation that bad .
