Fun Fact: Shoeless Joe Jackson's Great-Great nephew played on our city's minor league team Spokane Indians in 2013. His name was Joe Jackson as well.

Back in the mid-90s, my dad befriended a guy at a card show who found a small box at the local landfill while dumping his own stuff. Bunches of T206s. They were in horrible shape, but included a green portrait Cobb and some other hall of famers.

I love attic find Fridays!!! What a story. I always vision myself being the person who finds the card when you are telling the story. Lol. If I would have sold the card I would re invest half of the money on vintage cards and with the other half I would have brought a property on an island like Puerto Rico or Dominican Republic. Attic find Fridays are 🔥🔥🔥

Thanks so much for the birthday shout-out for Josiah! He was all smiles. (I may or may not have whooped out loud, too, as I didn't tell anyone that it might happen...lol)
Your delivery of the story was spot-on as you shared it, too, Mike. It brought a couple of chuckles to me throughout the episode.
Josiah and I live in WV and did check to see how long it would be to drive up there to Portland, ME for the card show. 13 hours each way doesn't fit in our schedule this weekend, but let us know about other card shows you might go to in the future and we'll see if we can make it to meet you. Or, if you're ever driving through Charleston, WV, let me know and we'll arrange a meetup if you're game.

Awesome story! I would have done something similar with the Jackson - get it graded, sell it , and split up the proceeds for my girls higher education. Would have gotten all the other T-206's graded and get as much as possible - selling in drips and drabs and collecting others cards I like. Thanks again for a great story!

A dream card for me is a Jackson card. If that was my dad's card and he was still around I would have to give it to him. Now even though I want a Jackson card I might sell it to help with the purchase of the last 4 hof t206 cards. That would be the ultimate set to have.

I purchased a Cy Young collection in 2021. I have a few Type 1 photos (from the 50s) from his personal collection. He possibly wrote on the back of one of the photos (It features an old Cy and a young lady standing on a farm). A couple of photos have his personal home signature stamp. I also have a rodeo program that belonged to Cy...this also has his home stationary stamp. There is also a tintype photograph from the 1870s (that resembles Cy as an adolescent boy). Who do I talk to? I've contacted Cooperstown and they said they didn't have the technology to authenticate tintypes. I've also had trouble reaching somebody at the Cy Young Museum in Newcomerstown, Ohio. Is there a Cy Young expert out there I can contact? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

I keep hearing SGC is better. I just bought a high grade 1956-1970 hof lot (79 cards, Majority are 1956-1963) Most look 5s and 6s. 10 Mantles, Multiple Mays/Aaron/Killebrew/etc. I want to preserve the high grade ones. Should I go with SGC? (Look up Mantle Mania by ObsessedCollector) Thats the lot I got :)
