Actually, the survivors of the sack of Ost-in-Edhil, the capital of Eregion, were led north by Elrond to found Imladris. So that's the origin of Rivendell. And Celebrimbor was defending the Gwaith-i-Mirdain, which was the smithing guild where the Rings were forged.
Bro I can’t express how happy it makes me that you’re getting back to your roots. Lord of the rings is life and your videos always get me fired up to play third age. Keep these up 👏
I was playing M2 and I was in the multiplayer lobby with synn of the darkcloud and son of imladris and a few others and I'm fairly sure they were doing the battle for this video
A lot of the elves fled to lothlorien and 2 of those elves were Galadriel and celebrimbor who took charge there and the dwarves of Khazad-Dûm helped them.
Had to double check the date to make sure the video wasn't years old! Love the channel, love the Lord of the Rings appreciation (it's what linked your channel to my interests), and I love the commentary! Also just become a lore master so you can really get into the true magic of Middle Earth!! You'd love the crossing of the Elves (twice) and the dynamic between Feanor and Fingolfin. It's the First Age that really always leaves me stunned. Anyways, cheers Apollo, hope your move is going well.
Pls upload more third Age Total war. I don't understand why this video got not so many views, because this was one of your best battle replay's!! Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Apollo is like that one really cool history teacher who goes way off topic for 20 minutes about something really cool before he continues on with the lesson. Which he also makes really cool.
The >elves knew Sauron from the first age, as the lord of the werwolves of MORGOTH. But in the elven court after the war he lied to them and told them he would be free of Morgoths will now. So they were suspicious but not enough.
You look to things like this, and you think to yourself, "Man, I could not imagine having to stand there, knowing it's do or die, fight or all is lost, knowing your gonna die," But then you remember that Warhammer is a thing and this happens to billions of people, which is a scarier thing to consider.
When Celebrimbor died from torture, his body was shot and desecrated by arrows, and he was paraded by Sauron when he attacked the elves. Tolkien could get hella dark sometimes.
Of course the alternate ending to this is that Celebrimbor was forced to create the One Ring because for some reason Sauron didn’t want to. And then Celebrimbor raised his own orc army and fought and died against Sauron. Then Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War happened.
It feels like the Mordor factions aren't as bad as they used to be, they got a huge amount of new decent units which makes the battle kinda uneven. Certainly because they also get extra money to start off with...
Thought the same thing, not to mention the nearly 21k in numbers compared to the Elves 3200, seems like there should have been a way to play for time on this one.
Hey Apollo! Did you know that when Tolkien was writing about middle earth he actually meant for the tales to seem as if they were real stories. Interesting that you brought that up!!
A 2v6 is basically impossible. Also bcz of the troll catapult, de many troops of trolls, the 1 or 2 units of black guard of barad dur and the annoying rerouting drakes who just didnt die or stayed broken
Well Imladris wasn’t a thing back then and Elrond actually established imladris as a refuge camp of sorts to give homes and a hidden haven for the elves and quite a few of them were eregion elves. So technically kind of lore accurate to have imladris elves
The thing is that the elves really wore the Rings but the rings didnt have the corruption of Sauron in them because he forged them before the Master of Lies tricked him
I'm planning on making a custom scenario where dwarf balin and others take back moria from the orcs then when they join forces with Dale to defend and get defeated by the orcs
If this battle was in the third age this would be a huge number competitions for gimli and legolas Screaming across the field legolas 987,988,989 Gimili: 430, 431, i will not be out shot by a pointy ear
i think lotr was inspired by norway in the viking era, when it was just a bunch of minor kingdoms fighting each other, you see a lot of cultural inspiration as well.
Lotr was much inspired by most northern countries. Finland was one of the biggest inspirations for Tolkien. It is quite easy to spot the Nordic-mythology influence - in his works :)
A youtube channel called History of the Ages made a lot of videos covering this war. There's also a game called Shadow of War that has Celebrimbor in it, you get to wear and use a ring of power, sack fortresses in Mordor, and its definitely worth checking out.
Celebrimbor is Noldor, the grandson of Feanor. Celeborn is Sindar, the husband of Galadriel and not a really utterly important figure in the history of the Middle Earth.
Big thanks to the players and Synn Of the Darkcloud for setting this up! It is a huge help while I wait for internet!
You should show more third age videos
How are all the og’s like synn doing Apollo!
Thanks man (T_T)

This is so much better than your usual 5 fps pitch black Atilla gameplay...
Basically, Sauron got pissed that the Elves aren’t wearing his jewellery
The elves didnt accept his marriage proposal.
Luckily the humans were all for it.
@@oriontipuna586 they were just more progressive 😂
Celebrimbor did the Rings for the elves, and was hiding them from Sauron. Because of that the Elven rings are the „good ones“
Actually, the survivors of the sack of Ost-in-Edhil, the capital of Eregion, were led north by Elrond to found Imladris. So that's the origin of Rivendell.
And Celebrimbor was defending the Gwaith-i-Mirdain, which was the smithing guild where the Rings were forged.
where can u get that info from? I just read the LOTR books.
@@dragobch perhaps Silma?
@@sethleoric2598 There are 12 more books with the Middle Earth history, plus Tolkien's letters, used as the source of information.
@@Slaveknight_gael wait those book of lost tales things are in LoTR's universe?
@@sethleoric2598 Yep. Along with Shaping of Middle Earth, Lays of Beleriand, The Lost Road, Beren and Luthien, Children of Hurin, Morgoth's Ring, etc.
When I see Apollo has finally released a new Third Age video.
He will probably start to do it more often when the Amazon LOTR comes out, because it will be "trendy". At least, I hope.
@@nezahaucoyotl244 yeah hopefully the graphics will be good as well

Apollo: People die when they are killed.

The fellowship passes through this land before reaching Moria and ruins can be seen.
Oh right, I think they can even be seen in the extended edition of Lord Of the Rings.
Please more battles like this they really make my day 😃

As I know maybe I'm wrong, the region was called Eregion not the city, Ost-in-Edhil was the name of this city
Eriador? you mean Eregion
Yes, thank you hehe :)
Awsome video. Huge supporter since 2014. Great to see Third Age reforged. Brilliant underated game
I’ve been asking for a eregion battle. And here it is narrated by the best total war commentar ever!!

I was beginning to wonder when you'd bring out more Total War content. Love you Pix!!!!!!
It’s awesome to see third age content again. Always great commentary.
The >elves knew Sauron from the first age, as the lord of the werwolves of MORGOTH. But in the elven court after the war he lied to them and told them he would be free of Morgoths will now. So they were suspicious but not enough.
Ur commentary is by far my favorite I love that positive energy
I love Rome total war vids too but I was so excited to see the return of 3A. Keep it up Apollo!

34:33 Anakin flashbacks
'They weren't completely eradicated...but they were utterly destroyed'. Poor elves
When Celebrimbor died from torture, his body was shot and desecrated by arrows, and he was paraded by Sauron when he attacked the elves. Tolkien could get hella dark sometimes.
I don't follow Lord of the Rings lore too much, but I think you did a great job explaining it, I understood it pretty well. Love the vids, keep it up!
FINALLLLLLYYY!!!! Thrid age

for a 14 year old game M2TW sure does still look pretty good, and by far the best Total War ever made.
It feels like the Mordor factions aren't as bad as they used to be, they got a huge amount of new decent units which makes the battle kinda uneven. Certainly because they also get extra money to start off with...

Yeah no matter what you do you can't win that
Third Age after so much time thank you Apollo
In older videos i didn't really care about who won but these new lore videos pretty much force me to root for one side
be wise like an elf be simple like a hobbit be brave as a man and imaginative like Tolkien
My favorite thing about Third Age is the elves firing arrows
Celebrimbor gave up the locations of all the rings except the elven rings because he died before revealing who had them.
Hey Apollo! Did you know that when Tolkien was writing about middle earth he actually meant for the tales to seem as if they were real stories. Interesting that you brought that up!!

Long has the return of third age been foretold
Sauron got big mad about the elven forges so slaughtered some elves. This should actually be in one of the seasons of the lotr show
Apollo should play shadow of war🙌🏻
The day may come, when Apollo don't upload Third age anymore... But it is not this day! Today we watch a video!
So happy u posted this 💓
it took a century for the elves to realise that the rings that THEY FORGED THEMSELVES had massive power in them. smug bastards smh
What happened to a bunch of these videos you like stopped making these and now you’re starting again please keep making these these are amazing
This is exactly what I've been waiting for.
Eregion is one of my favorite regions in Lord of the Rings Online. I wonder if Apollo played that.
Poor pointy eared woodland sprites!
Can't wait to see the next part

Only after Sauron lost his.
Eregion was destroyed but its people survived and founded Rivendell (Imladris).

It has been ages...
If I'm not mistaken,, Elrond was one of the Eregion survivor then found Imladris or we know as Rivendell..
A youtube channel called History of the Ages made a lot of videos covering this war. There's also a game called Shadow of War that has Celebrimbor in it, you get to wear and use a ring of power, sack fortresses in Mordor, and its definitely worth checking out.
honestly this is better than the rings of power version
If I remember correctly, this was briefly touched upon in Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War
No, I think that's in Third Age as in this war Gondor didn't even exist. It was made not even 300 years before the Last Alliance war I think
just checked. Siege of Minas Ithil represented in Shadow of war is TA 2000-2002
They had flashbacks in game during Celebrimbor's side quests that covered this slightly. Not much, but it was mentioned.
This looks absolutely amazing , will there be bend but dont break strategies ?
I swear those are the elven barracks in The battle of middle earth 2😆
I just realises Celebrimbor was that guy from the Middle Earth game! I thought you were talking about Celeborn 😂
Celebrimbor is Noldor, the grandson of Feanor. Celeborn is Sindar, the husband of Galadriel and not a really utterly important figure in the history of the Middle Earth.
POG APOLLO VID
